WHAT IS AN UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE FUND?

The Danish word “a-kasse” means unemployment insurance fund.

Grant you benefit if you become unemployed after your graduation

Free student membership while you are studying

NB! A trade union is not an unemployment insurance fund

HOW AND WHEN TO BECOME A MEMBER…

You must:

be older than 18 years :o)

have residency in Denmark before you begin your education

have maintained residency in Denmark at the time of application

apply for membership no later than 2 weeks after you have graduated….or apply today :o)

UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFIT – WHAT DOES IT TAKE?

You must:

have a valid Danish residence and work permit. The permits must be valid through the entire period for which you apply for benefit, and also give you the right to work full-time

register as unemployed on jobnet.dk

enter your CV into Job Centre’s CV bank

apply for at least 2 full-time jobs in Denmark every week
