2. How to prepare your classes

Aim of the course • understand a spoken text without help • being able to use the words actively (in conversations)

How to achieve that aim?1. Use book(s) + online version

2. Learn the text• step by step• first with all help, and gradually less help • 4, 5, 6, 7 times …..• 1 text takes 2 - 3 hours

3. Preparing classes takes about 8-10 hours a week

• with conversations on topics in the text

• knowledge of the text is essential

• Minimum result of 70% necessary

1. Oral skills shown in class

2. Weighted average of attendance, result of 3 written tests, 2 writing assignments , number of listening tests taken

In case of an insufficient grade for speaking in class: additional speaking test

In case of an insufficient grade for attendance + tests: additional paper & pencil test The final test is ___ text with blanks. You have ___ fill in the missing word. All sentences are from ___ text book.

• BSc/MSc/exchange students. No pre-enrolment = no placement in a group in Q3

For TUD PhD / PDeng students

• You are already enrolled! But …..

• You have to sit the introduction test on Wednesday 10th of February:

- Failing the test: the secretary will remove your name from the list - Passing the test: the secretary will send you the timetable.

• If you pass the course you will get 3 Graduate School credits.

• If you cannot make it after all, please send an email a.s.a.p. to the secretary.

• PhD + PDeng: If you don’t finish the course your department will get an invoice from the graduate school!

Introduction test - Wednesday (February 10)• Obligatory: all BSc/MSc and Exchange students, PhD/PDeng students

• Content: texts 1 & 2 of the text book “Nederlands voor buitenlanders”

• Format: listening test (dictation), minimum grade for both texts 80%

• Needed: Bring your headphones

• Place & time: CiTG Faculty (building 23) - computer room 0.20 (route: ask servicedesk)

• Results of introduction test: Next day (Thursday February 11) on Blackboard (wm1115TU) before 11.00 hrs.

• If result for both texts is 80% or more? • Check if your number/name is in the announcement • Enroll via Blackboard from 11:00 onwards (wm1115TU 2015-2016, Q3)• Enroll in the group that suits you best - first come, first served

• If all groups are full?• Put your name on the waiting list - place in next quarter guaranteed• Prepare chapters 1-5 before February 18 in case a place becomes available

• If Score <80 %? No enrolment allowed.Options:1. Do self-study and sit the final test of the course + do speaking test send an

email to delftsemethode@tudelft.nl (after February 22)2. Full enrolment procedure in the next quarter: pre-enroll in the organization for

the introduction lesson + introduction test again (open after February 22).

Information for BSc/MSc/Exchange students

If you enroll you are supposed to finish the course.Only enroll if you have enough time (8-10 hours a week in total)!

If you drop out nevertheless:

• Notify your teacher and the secretary

• You cannot take the course again later - you can do self-study and sit the final test and do the speaking test

• You may get a poor result in Osiris - which you can improve by doing the final test + speaking test
