Risk

UN/ISDR, 2004

risk = expected impact (EI) x propability of occurence (PO)

risk priority figure = EI x PO x capability of reaction TUM BWL, 2006

Landslides

Krautblatter – Wunderlich - Straub LANDSLIDES SS 2012

Trigger for Landslides

Landslides, though generally disposed geologically are frequentlycaused resp. activated by other occurrences, called triggers:

earthquakes

volcanism

erosion

heavy rain, flooding, snowmelt

freeze-thaw cycle, upward movement of permafrost line

structural interventions in slope equilibrium

Extent of losses of minor importance according reassurancecompanies, but clearly increasing – alpine space most affected!

Geodetical Monitoring

GNSS-based procedures (global)

Remote Sensing (regional)

Terrestrial procdures (local)

Triangulation / Trilateration (conventional precision surveying)

Tacheometry / Total Stations as Observation Robots (TPS)

Laserscanning (TLS)

Ground based interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (Gb-SAR)

Geotechnical explorations, Fibre Optic (Strain) Sensors (FOS)

Geo Sensor Networks (GSN)
