• Biggest collection in TDSB?• Books are identified by students by

title so are sorted by title• Students are currently concerned

about the space series are taking– New initiative:

to make boxes like in Labyrinth

– Label boxes by genre: e.g. Action, Romance, Comedy

– GNC activity

Circulation•Hours: 8 – 4… 4:30… 5 pm

– Not open during 60 minute lunch

• Do not collect overdue fines

• GN = Overnight Loan

1. Collection consists of 1 copy of each book

2. Peer pressure gets books returned on time

3. Accountable, reliable use of materials

Club• For past regular and reliable users

of the library • Express anxiety of being away from

their favourite books• Siblings also borrowRULE: return books on time • Often stay & read for the afternoon

– Visits are enjoyed by all GNC members/friends

• Day before a long weekend or Holiday e.g. Christmas, March Break

• Students – often fill a mail bin – Bring a bag big enough to carry

lots of books

• For students who have been regular and reliable users of the library

• Trust must be established: screening– Must have demonstrated proper care of

books– Student sets own limit– Occurs on an Exam Day

Manga: Grade 8 Tours

• Guidance Department organizes tours for potential Grade 8 students from Feeder schools

• Tours begin in the library– Great promotion for the library– Manga is a BIG attraction

Circulation: Returns

• Manga are returned the very next school day, in the morning

• Preference is to receive books at the circulation desk– Speeds return of the GN to next potential

reader– Opportunity to speak to each individual

student e.g. “Thank you”, “Good Morning, How are you?” “ How was the read?”…

• Process date on each Bar Code • Two return trolleys,

– GN or “other” or…– New books are placed in the Viz Box for

promotion

Books are shelved before and after school by students for Community Hours.
