This individual possesses the complex knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care and transportation. Paramedics function as part of a comprehensive EMS response, under medical oversight. Paramedics perform interventions with the basic and advanced equipment typically found on an ambulance. The Paramedic is a link from the scene into the health care system.”

Semester I: The first semester of study will focus on the paramedic practice of emergency care for patient conditions resulting from illness. Learning outcomes for the first semester of study include:

• Learning how to manage respiratory emergencies and use of basic and advanced airway adjuncts.

• Obtaining vascular access on patients exhibiting signs and symptoms of chronic or acute illness. • Mastering the assessment and treatment of patients experiencing cardiovascular emergencies. • Integrating the comprehensive knowledge of pharmacology and drug calculations to formulate a

treatment plan to mitigate medical emergencies. • Use of medical monitoring devices to effectively assess and treat patients with various medical

conditions. Semester II: The focus of the second semester of study is on the assessment and treatment of the victim of trauma. Learning outcomes for the second semester include:

• Selection and appropriate use of basic and advanced airway adjuncts to manage the ventilation and oxygenation of trauma patients.

• Providing fluid resuscitation to trauma patients when indicated by clinical findings and the trauma assessment, while providing safe transportation of the patient to the most appropriate medical facility.

• The assessment and treatment of patients experiencing life-threatening bleeding and shock. • Demonstrating an understanding of the kinematics of trauma to better understand and predict

injury patterns and consequences in order to formulate treatment plans based on the patient’s injuries.

Semester III: Students attending the third and final semester focus on completion of their “capstone” project which involves their field internship. Student focus is also on EMS operations during specific events such as disasters and mass casualty situations; special and functional needs patients and those experiencing behavioral or mental health crisis. Learning outcomes for the final semester include:

• Demonstration of specific ventilation and oxygenation considerations of specific patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics and functional need patients.

• Mastering the physical assessment of various patient populations including pediatric patients, bariatric patients and geriatric patients.

• Describing and demonstrating safe, empathetic competence in caring for patients with behavioral and substance abuse emergencies.

Each semester, the student will be required to successfully complete supervised hours and competencies in approved clinical and prehospital sites as determined by the OSDH, CAAHEP/CoAEMSP, and the Program. The purpose of field/clinical practice is to allow the application of learned principles in

First Semester:

The Student will be able to accomplish the following objectives after completion of the course:

1. Demonstrate the ability to establish and/or maintain a patent airway, oxygenate and ventilate a patient utilizing appropriate equipment.

2. Demonstrate the ability to safely and successfully access the venous circulation and administer medications.

3. Integrate pathophysiological principles and assessment findings to formulate a field impression and implement the treatment plan for the patient with shock.

4. Integrate pathophysiological principles, history, and assessment findings to formulate a field impression and implement a treatment plan for a patient with a medical emergency.

5. Integrate comprehensive knowledge of pharmacology and drug calculations to formulate a treatment plan to mitigate emergencies.

6. Identify and appropriately manage all major cardiac dysrhythmias, demonstrate proper techniques for defibrillation and cardioversion as well as recognizing proper safety techniques for these procedures.

7. Demonstrate the ability to utilize medical monitoring devices effectively and appropriately.

Second Semester:

The Student will be able to accomplish the following objectives after completing the course:

1. Demonstrate the ability to establish and/or maintain a patent airway, oxygenate, and ventilate a patient utilizing the appropriate equipment.

2. Demonstrate the ability to safely and successfully access the venous circulation and administer medications.

3. Integrate pathophysiological principles and assessment findings to formulate a field impression and implement the treatment plan for the patient with shock and hemorrhage.

4. Integrate pathophysiological principles, history, and assessment findings to formulate a field impression and implement a treatment plan for a patient with a traumatic injury.

5. Integrate comprehensive knowledge of pharmacology and drug calculations to formulate a treatment plan to mitigate medical emergencies.

6. Integrate the principles of kinematics to enhance the patient assessment and predict the likelihood of injury based on the patient’s mechanism of injury.

7. Demonstrate the ability to utilize medical monitoring devices effectively and appropriately.

Third Semester:

The student will be able to accomplish the following objectives following this course.

1. Demonstrate the ability to establish and/or maintain a patent airway, oxygenate, and ventilate a pediatric, geriatric, bariatric, and special needs patient utilizing appropriate equipment.

2. Demonstrate the ability to safely and successfully access the venous circulation and administer medications to a pediatric, geriatric, bariatric, obstetric and special needs patient.

3. Integrate pathophysiological principles and assessment findings to formulate a field impression and implement the treatment plan for the pediatric, geriatric, bariatric, obstetric and special needs patient experiencing shock, trauma or medical emergency.

4. Integrate comprehensive knowledge of pharmacology and drug calculations to formulate a treatment plan for the pediatric, geriatric, bariatric, and obstetric patient to mitigate emergencies.

5. Describe and demonstrate safe, empathetic competence in caring for patients with behavioral and substance abuse emergencies.

6. Integrate pathophysiological principles and assessment findings to formulate a field impression and implement the treatment plan for obstetrical patients experiencing normal or abnormal delivery.

7. Apply psychosocial principles to adapt the assessment and treatment plan for diverse patients and those who face physical, mental, social and financial challenges.

8. Demonstrate the ability to utilize medical monitoring devices effectively and appropriately on the pediatric, geriatric, bariatric, obstetric and special needs patient.

9. Integrate the assessment findings to formulate a field impression and implement a treatment plan for a patient who has sustained abuse, neglect and/or assault.

Research Paper:

The student will complete an applied research paper after attending a Research Paper Orientation in the TCC Library. The paper shall utilize at least 3 scholastic resources, at least 1 on-line source and cite references correctly using APA formatting. The paper will be completed using Office Word.

To successfully complete the Healthcare Specialist/Paramedic, the student must:

1. Earn an average of 70% or higher on each course exam. There are seven modular examinations each semester that are each worth 100 points. If the student earns less than a 70% on the “A” form of the exam, the student must take the “B” form. The student will RETAIN the original score for final grade purposes, however, a minimum score of 70% on the B form is required to maintain good standing within the paramedic program.

a. Prior to taking the “B” form examination of any module, the student must attend remediation during the scheduled time. If the student misses the class remediation, it is solely the student’s responsibility to contact the instructor to make other arrangements.

i. Failure to attend remediation, and take the “B” form of the exam, may result in termination from the paramedic program.

b. A student not able to maintain a minimum score of 70% average, will receive a grade of “D”, and not be able to proceed with the paramedic program. The student may, at their discretion, complete the course, however, the highest possible grade will be a “D”. The student may choose to withdrawal from the course.

2. Successfully complete the end-of-course comprehensive written examination with a minimum score of 70%. A failure of the student to score a minimum of a 70% average will result in a grade of “D”, regardless of course average and the student will not be eligible to take the National Registry exams, or progress to paramedic.

a. At the discretion of the Program Director, on the advice of the course faculty, students may be offered a second attempt to successfully complete the course, if they have maintained a record of good standing, with the exception of the final comprehensive examination. This may involve a review class, at an additional cost, and an additional attempt at the comprehensive written examination. If the student is still unable to meet the minimum score, they will receive a grade of “D” and the student will not be eligible to progress in the paramedic program. A student who is unsuccessful on the final comprehensive exam, and is successful on the second attempt, following the review class, will receive a grade, no higher than a “C” for the course.

3. Successfully complete the end-of-course comprehensive practical examination with a maximum of 3 attempts. Each failed attempt will result in a loss of 20 points for each skill failed. A student will have 3 attempts to successfully complete each skill station.

4. Submit all (both successful and unsuccessful) skill evaluation sheets after each lab. Complete the minimum number of required repetitions for each skill documented in FISDAP.

Failure to properly document lab skill completion may result in a grade of “D” and the student will not be eligible to take the National Registry exam, or progress in the paramedic program.

5. The student will complete all modular assignments and quizzes, discussion boards, homework and other assigned activities by the due date of each assignment. Late assignments may be accepted, however, a loss of 10 points for each assignment will be deducted. Completing assignment, even if late, will still help the student by reinforcing critical information covered in the module.

a. Special assignments – successful completing is mandatory for course success. Although points associated with these assignments may not result in overall course failure, failure to complete special assignments will result in a grade no higher than a “D” in the course.

6. Affective evaluation – Initial evaluations should reflect an improving trend, to culminate in a minimum of “3” in all eleven categories by the end of the program to successfully complete the course, as evaluated by the course instructor. Each evaluation obtaining less than “3” (competence), or above a “4” requires supplemental documentation by the instructor and a signature by the student. All evaluations below “3” require an “action plan” for improvement developed by the student and acknowledged by the instructor. Failure to achieve a minimum score of “3” in all affective categories may result in a grade of “D” and ineligibility of the student to progress in the paramedic program. Additionally, students will:

a. Comply with all program policies and procedures;

b. Adhere to the EMT Code of Ethics;

c. Exhibit professional and appropriate behavior that reflects positively on the profession, paramedic program and TCC, in the classroom, lab and clinical settings;

d. Earn a mark of “3” of higher for each item on the affective evaluation form as observed by the course and lab instructors, or “2” in clinical by the preceptor by the end of the semester. The expectation is that the student will show improvement in any area they received a mark of “3” or “2” respectively.

7. Extra-credit may be offered to allow students who are passing the core content with a minimum of a 70% to enhance their overall grade. Extra credit may not be used to assist in passing the core content.

CLINCIAL

1. A complete clinical packet must be provided by the published deadline. The student is required to meet the published minimum paramedic program competencies. Failure to submit a complete, and accurate, clinical packet may result in a grade of “D” and ineligibility

of the student to progress in the paramedic program.

a. Each clinical rotation is worth 50 points. The student will lose 50 points for each no-show/no-call missed clinical.

b. Once a clinical rotation is scheduled, changing shifts will only be permitted by documentable extenuating circumstances, and must be approved by the instructor/clinical coordinator. Rescheduling clinical rotations will result in a loss of 20 points per occurrence. Excessive schedule changes may result in a grade of “D” and the student’s ineligibility to progress in the paramedic program.

c. The student will receive a 20 point deduction for each missed clinical with notification prior to the clinical starting date and time. Documentation must be provided to the instructor via email, along with a phone call.

2. Grading for complete clinical work, will be based on:

a. Use of correct medical terminology, grammar and spelling in the Patient Care Report (PCR). The PCR may be returned by the instructor for edits and additional points.

b. Response to FISDAP clinical experience questions when provided;

c. Use of an appropriate and accurate documentation format on PCRs in FISDAP.

3. Clinical rotations should be scheduled in FISDAP by the deadline. All clinical paperwork must be valid through the end of the semester. Required clinical paperwork includes:

a. OSHA and HIPAA Training;

b. CPR certification (AHA Healthcare Provider);

c. Immunizations and tests;

d. OSBI background check;

e. Drug testing;

f. Insurance

4. FISDAP data must be submitted to FISDAP within 24-hours of each clinical rotation, or the entire rotation must be repeated. The clinical will be assigned by the instructor. The student will lose 10 points for each occurrence.

a. Failure to properly document in FISDAP will result in a grade of “D”, and the student will not be eligible to progress in the paramedic program.

5. If competencies are not met the student must schedule additional clinical rotations until each competency is completed. Unmet clinical competence may result in a grade of “D” and the student will not be eligible to proceed with the paramedic program. Due to the unpredictable nature of emergency medical work please plan your clinical so that you have adequate time

for additional rotations if they become necessary.

REQUIRED SOFTWARE

Students will need to have updated virus protection installed on your personal computers, such as Norton or McAfee. It is the responsibility of the student to protect their personal computers against virus attack. It is unlikely that viruses will be intentionally introduced or spread by members of the TCC learning community; however, most viruses/malware are spread unintentionally by users who have no knowledge of the infected files.

COMPUTER ACCESS

It is highly recommended that students have regular, daily access to a computer with broadband internet access. This course can be completed using public computers at TCC (available in the FACET Center at NEC) or other public access areas. However, be aware that using public access computers may create a student hardship. All course requirements remain the same whether computer access is private or public domain.

STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES IN BLENDED ON-LINE COURSES

Many students find the student responsibilities and expectations for online learning courses to be different from those of traditional on-campus courses. Not all students are willing or able, due to time commitments, to accept those responsibilities. The following statements highlight student responsibilities in the blended course. If you are unable to agree to all of the statements below, perhaps you should reconsider taking this course in a blended format.

1. I understand that I must ask questions directly and immediately if I do not understand the assignment instructions or due dates;

2. I understand that I must organize my time in a way that allows me thoughtfully, and thoroughly complete assignments, on time, in the format required;

3. I understand that I am completely responsible for keeping up with assignments, submitting them on-time, in the format required;

4. I understand that technical problems related to computer connections or equipment malfunctions are not a valid excuse for failure to complete assignments or to participate with online discussions. Attendance (whether online or classroom) is an essential component of maintaining a quality learning environment.

You will be expected to log on to the course site at least once per week;

You will be expected to attend all assigned labs;

You will be expected to attend all scheduled clinical rotations;

You are expected to participate in all assigned activities in the course;

Attendance is measured by thoughtful completion of all course assignments.

Just as in the business world, assignments are varied, integrated and overlapping. Students must focus on multiple issues, projects and demands simultaneously. Students must, therefore, take all responsibility for planning and pacing their own work, as well as developing time management skills.

ADMINISTRATIVE WITHDRAWAL FOR NON-PARTICIPATION OF STUDENTS

Students who fail to complete all assignments in the course for the “Start Here” module by the end of the first week of course access will be administratively withdrawn from the course.

Teaching methods and strategies may include, but are not limited to the following:

1. Reading – You are expected to read resources such as textbooks, PDF files, course documents, blogs, and various other documents in order to understand and comprehend course material.

2. Viewing – You are expected to view videos provided in order to understand and comprehend the material.

3. Applying critical thinking skills – You are expected to apply your critical thinking skills by reading the assigned material, participating in the required activities, and successfully differentiating between essential and non-essential information.

4. Demonstrating you comprehension – You are expected to demonstrate your ability to

understand and comprehend the material by successfully participating in class discussions, completing writing assignments, completing projects, obtaining the appropriate certifications, and completing all tests and assignments at a satisfactory level.

5. Successfully demonstrate all psychomotor skills – You are expected to perform all required psychomotor skills in a competent manner of that of an entry level paramedic.

6. Scenarios – You are expected to use you critical reasoning skills, knowledge and psychomotor skills to appropriately manage a simulated patient during a scenario.

7. Demonstrate an understanding and appreciation of professional behavior – You are expected to behave in a professional manner at all times; in the classroom, in labs, during clinical rotations and when meeting other faculty, staff or students. You are expected to be a role model for other students, or those just entering the program.

EVALUATION TECHNIQUES

Your grade in this class will directly reflect the quality of your writing, comprehension of the material, and demonstration of skills and attitudes of a professional paramedic. Letter grades will be assigned based on your successful completion percentage of all required activities, participation points, and any extra credit points earned throughout the semester.

The student is required to pass all examinations with a minimum score of 70% before extra-credit and assignments are considered in the final grade.

Assignments will be evaluated and graded using the following criteria:

1. Adherence to the assignment directions;

2. Clarity, concreteness and conciseness of your expressed thoughts

a. Organize blogs and writing assignments according to the main ideas as detailed in the assignment directions.

c. Connect all parts of your writing with logical, smooth, and understandable transitions.

a. Use a business writing style that is related to the level of formality of the communication desired.

b. Base your style on the audience you are addressing.

c. Choose a format that is appropriate to your audience, the purpose of your communications, and your organizational context.

d. Write grammatically correct sentences that are punctuated correctly.

5. Rubrics specific to the assignment are provided as a part of the assignment directions when appropriate, or vary from the norm.

TENTATIVE SCHEDULE OF ACTIVITIES AND AGENDA

The instructor may change the assignment schedule at any time with notification by email or posted in the Announcements section on Blackboard.

Assignments are due by 9:00 am (CST) on the date stated in the Course Schedule.

The Couse Schedule is provided on the “Start Here” page in Blackboard.

Assignments should be completed in the order in which they appear according to due dates.

ONLINE TESTING POLICY

All of you assignments such as blogs, essays, and tests/quizzes within this course are administered online. Even though you are taking them online, they are still “real” tests and will become part of your grade. The online testing procedure is as follows:

1. All modular exams must be completed in the TCC NEC Testing Center located in the Academic Building. Make sure you have adequate time to complete the exams by the deadline. Don’t attempt an examination unless there is the full time allocated for the examination available at the Testing Center (don’t start an exam you have an hour to complete, if the Testing Center is closing in 30 minutes). All modular exams are timed, 50 questions in 60 minutes. Academic dishonesty will not be tolerated.

2. All other assessments are to be taken by yourself (independent effort), unless the assignment directions indicate that you may use other resources such as a group activity.

3. You may use your textbook and other course materials for any assignment, except Modular exams.

4. You must complete assessments by the due date and time indicated in the Course Schedule to receive full credit.

5. Timed tests will automatically submit when the time is up, if you have not already finished and submitted the examination.

6. The time allocated for tests may vary due to difficulty and content. Most quizzes and assignments will not be timed.

7. Exiting the test does not stop the event timer, it continues to count down on the server.

8. If something happens, and your computer freezes, or Blackboard crashes you must sent an email to [email protected] or your instructor as soon as possible detailing what occurred and when it occurred. Please include the course number and section on the subject line of the email.

9. If you lose your ability to access the internet during an assignment, call the Program office (918) 595-4746 and explain the situation to the Director, or leave a voice message when prompted. Do not wait until the assignment is due to explain why it’s late.

SUBMITTING ASSIGNMENTS

1. Assignments are to be submitted through the assignment item in its module section in the Blackboard class site.

2. Students should also keep an electronic copy of all submitted assignments on their personal computers until the end of the semester.

3. TCC utilizes a plagiarism detection system called “SafeAssign”. Assignments should be submitted through SafeAssign for an originality check prior to submission for grade. Issues of plagiarism are serious academic offenses.

4. Please do not wait until the assignment is due to submit them. Submit as soon as the assignment is completed to your satisfaction to account for any issues with computer connections, loss of internet, or issues with the Blackboard site. Hardware and/or software issues are not valid reasons for tardy submissions.

5. All assessments will be conducted and submitted through Blackboard. Do not send the instructor(s) items directly, unless you have been given specific permission in advance to do so for a specific assignment.

6. Your instructor will only accept assignments directly by email during emergency situations when there are unexpected and unreasonable problems with equipment or internet failure at TCC lasting more than a day.

7. If TCC connectively results in issues in submission of assignments by the due date, we will work out a mutually agreeable solution to the problem.

8. Any known difficulty, or adjustment, affecting the entire class will be relayed by TCC email and through Blackboard email, if functional.

WRITTEN ASSIGNMENT FORMAT

Written assignments will be presented following the formatting below:

1. Standard 1” margins, entire page;

2. Single-spaced text, in size 12 font, black text;

3. Double spacing between paragraphs only;

4. No paragraph indentation (Left justified).

GRADED ASSIGNMENTS

1. Assignments that are submitted by the due date will usually be graded and returned within 1 week of the submission.

2. Your graded assignments with comments about the quality of your work can be accessed through the Student Gradebook.

3. When available, click the “View Rubric” tab to view the scoring rubric and any instructor comments regarding the specific assignment.

4. Please ensure you read the instructor comments.

5. For tests, click on the underlined score or checkmark to view your test attempt.

MAKE-UP AND LATE ASSIGNMENT POLICY

Students are responsible for turning in all assigned work on or before the due date for full credit. Please notify your instructor(s) if you cannot comply with the due date as posted in the Course Schedule on the Start Here page. There are three (3) important things for you to remember about your assignments, assessments and activities.

There are NO make-up assignments.

Late work will receive point deductions.

Missing work will be counted as a zero (0).

EXTRA-CREDIT ASSIGNMENTS/ACTIVITIES

Extra-credit assignments and/or activities can be located in the “Extra Credit” are of the course menu, when available.

1. Extra-credit assignments are available to all students.

2. The points earned through successful completion of extra-credit work will be added to the total points earned for the course.

3. All extra-credit assignments or activities must be submitted on or before the due date stared on the Course Schedule. Late extra-credit assignments will not be accepted.

ACADEMIC INTEGRITY – PLAGIARISM

The cornerstone of intellectual achievement is academic integrity. Tulsa Community College recognizes that academic honesty is the vital key to a student’s true intellectual growth and ultimate personal satisfaction and success. Academic dishonesty or misconduct is not condoned nor tolerated at campuses within the TCC system. Academic dishonesty (cheating) is defined as the deception of others about one’s own work, or about the work of others.

Plagiarism is a specific type of academic dishonestly. It is claiming, indicating, or implying that the ideas, sentences, or words of another are your own; it includes having another person do work you claim as your own, copying the work of another and presenting it as your own, or following the work of another as a guide to ideas and expressions that are then presented as your own. Cases of academic dishonesty on assignments and activities in the course will result in the following disciplinary actions:

1. The student will receive a zero (0) on the assignment;

2. The student will receive a negative affective evaluation, which may also impact the students total class score/grade.

3. Instances of academic dishonesty in any patient care reports, clinical documentation, modular or final exams may result in the immediate removal of the student from the program with a resultant final grade of “F” for the entire course.

COMMUNICATING WITH THE INSTRUCTOR(S)

This course will primarily utilize two methods of whole class communication; Announcements and Email.

1. Usually, during the week, announcements will be placed in the Announcements section of the Blackboard course site, highlighting certain aspects of assignments or alerting students to important course issues. Also, an email will be sent to the student’s TCC email account.

2. Students are solely responsible to ensure they can access and use their TCC email account.

3. Students may wish to set up their TCC email account to automatically forward TCC emails to another email address.

4. The preferred method of communication for this course from student to instructor(s) is from within the Blackboard course site utilizing the Email Instructor tab in the Course Menu.

5. Email is typically checked after 9:00 am each day, Monday through Friday.

6. Please allow for a 24-hour reply time. Emails and/or voice mail may not be answered on the weekends.

CLASSROOM BEHAVIOR

All students are expected to display tolerance of other’s viewpoints on all Discussions and blogs. They are also to refrain from the use of any inappropriate language. Open, and mutually respectful communications of varied opinion, beliefs, and perspectives during online discussion encourages the free exchange of ideas that is essential to higher learning and to the ability to learn from each other. The instructor(s) or Program Director, reserve the right to terminate any discussion where these guidelines are violated. Inappropriate behavior will result in affective documentation and may result in dismissal from the paramedic program.

BLACKBOARD SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE

Regular sever maintenance in scheduled every Wednesday morning from 12:15 am until 3:00 am. Blackboard may be inaccessible for all, or part of this time. Please plan your work accordingly.

CREDIT TRANSFERABILITY

Please check with the TCC Academic Counseling Center or Counseling Center of the college of which you would like to transfer, to determine the transferability of any previously completed course work at TCC.

COURSE WITHDRAWAL

Students who are earning a failing grade (a grade of “D” or below, will not qualify the student to take the National Registry of EMT exams, or progress through the paramedic program) should consider withdrawing from the course by the official drop date.

1. The deadline to withdrawal from a course shall not exceed ¾ the duration of any class.

2. Check the TCC Academic Calendar for the deadline that applied to the course.

3. Begin the process with a discussion with a faculty member assigned to the course, or the Program Director.

4. Contact the Counseling Office at any TCC campus to initiate the withdrawal from a course (“W” grade) or to change from credit to audit.

5. Withdrawal and/or change to an audit from a course after the drop/add period can alter the financial aid award for the current and future semesters.

6. Students may receive an outstanding bill from TCC if the recalculation leaves a balance due

to TCC.

7. Students who stop attending/participating in the course and fail to withdrawal will receive a course grade of “F”, with may have financial aid implications for the student.

8. An “AW” will not be submitted for students who earn failing grades in the course beyond the “Y”.

9. Students are expected to know when the “Y” of the date range of this course is complete.

1. Unprofessional behavior in the classroom, lab, or clinical site may result in the lowering of my grade. A minimum of 20 points will be deducted from the affective score for each verbal counseling.

a. Egregious behavior; those that result in a student being denied access in the future to one or more clinical sites may lead to termination from the paramedic program and a final grade of “F” for the course. This denial by the clinical site may be received by the program through verbal communications to either the Clinical Coordinator, or Program Director who will document the incident(s) in writing if the clinical site is unwilling to do so.

2. I must earn a minimum of a 70% or higher on each course module examination. If I earn less than a 70% of the “A” form exam I will retain that score for the final grade purposes, however, a minimum score of 70% on the “B” form exam is required to remain in good standing within the program. An exceptional score on the “B” form exam, above 90%, will result in an adjustment to the recorded “A” form exam to a maximum of a 70%.

3. I understand to successfully complete the semester I must document the minimum number of lab skills as noted in FISDAP. It is my responsibility to assure that both peer and instructor check-offs are met. These include, but are not limited to:

a. Review of EMT skills each semester by a peer, including:

i. Oxygen administration;

ii. BVM;

iii. Spinal motion restriction, seated and supine;

iv. Traction splinting;

v. Glucometer;

vi. Nebulizer;

vii. Nasal medication administration;

ix. Bandaging;

iv. A minimum of 10 successful peer and 1 instructor verified check-off in

2. Dynamic cardiology.

1. Cricothyrotomy (combined needle and surgical);

2. Chest decompression;

c. Semester 2 Skills, including:

i. A minimum of 1 successful skill/week of each of the Semester 1 skills;

iii. A minimum of 5 successful peer and 1 instructor verified trauma intubation;

iv. A minimum of 5 successful peer and 1 instructor verified nasal intubation;
