Hey Key Clubbers,

Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving break! It's time to kick-off De-

cember with some fun holiday-themed events, including a mini-service event to

write holiday cards for children in Englewood hospital and the annual Holiday Pa-

rade!

But first, a recap of November. November was a really great month of fund-

raising! We held the Zombie Run fundraiser, led by the newly-made Social Outreach

Committee and assisted by the Eliminate Committee (really great job, guys!) In this

fright-filled fundraiser, zombies (ahem, I meant Key Clubbers) chased unwitting rac-

ers to the finish line while chasing away MNT!

November had a huge focus on Movember, or "no-shave November" for

men's health awareness and fundraising. Teachers at our school, including our very

own advisor Mr. Nelson and the event advisor Mr. Millar, grew out their mustaches in

support of the Movember cause. We also sold light blue ribbons for prostate cancer

awareness! I am so glad that I was able to lead such a comprehensive and im-

portant fundraiser, and I hope we continue doing the fundraiser every year!

Finally, the Tenafly Key Club also participated in the division 16 and 17 Elimi-

nathon, where a Tenafly High School team won the tournament! We had a great

time hosting the event in our own school and spiking out MNT!

This month, I really hope to see everyone participating in and leading more

events, especially with club and division/district elections right around the corner!

Many of you guys have racked up impressive hours, so keep up the amazing work!

You guys are what ultimatley keep the club alive and functioning, so don't hesitate

to be as active and enthusiastic about service as you can and to take on more

leadership roles in the club!

Yours in Caring and Service,

Mabel Zhang

In order to raise awareness for Men’s physical and mental health, we asked these teachers to pro-

mote this month-long event by growing out their facial hair, or by wearing a fake moustache

Thanks to everyone who participated and donated!

As mentioned before, this month we focused heavily on wide-

scale, school-wide fundraising such as Movember. That means a

BUNCH of counting for all the money we raised. This also includes

money from the Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF fundraising held at the

end of October. Overall, we were extremely successful. Selling

ribbons to bring awareness to mens’ health raised around $200,

and we’ve raised another $200 throughout the month to make a

grand total of around $400. To top it off, we made more than

$1,500 for Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF! Good job everyone!

The cold’s setting in and the snow is start-

ing to fall—and you all know what that

means! That’s right, holiday season is

coming! Every year, Key Clubbers make

sure the children of Tenafly have a

bunch of fun at the Holiday Parade. This

year, we’re meeting at the semi-circle

across from the post office at 5:45pm on

December 11th. Come to see Santa get

carted around town on top of a fire

truck! And yes, there’s a bunch of bal-

loons involved too.

Eliminathon Recap

On November 22nd, many Key Clubbers and non-Key Club-

bers alike participated in a volleyball tournament for the Elimi-

nate Project. Teams from all over Division 17 showed up, in-

cluding people from North Bergen, Millburn, and Emerson. We

had food, drinks, and a gigantic amount of ice-cream—a

large amount of which was donated by Secaucus and various

stores around our town!

Tenafly Key Club member Tomoya Otsuka says, “The Elimina-

thon was loads of fun! It was awesome to meet and play

against other key clubbers from division 17. However the best

part about the Eliminathon was playing volleyball and as well

as making some really sweet friends, Terry, Daniel, Jonathan,

Adalia, Iskander and Abhishek. Though none of us were out-

standing volleyball players we all gave it our all and played

hard till the very end. That’s something that I really appreciate

about Key Club, it’s a place where the most hard working and

courteous people gather to strive for a common goal. Overall

the Eliminathon was a successful charity event and everyone

had a great time! GO WILDKATS!”

Another member, Terry Kim, says, “I had a lot of fun participat-

ing in the Eliminate volleyball tournament. It was awesome

seeing people trying their hardest for a good cause! While

making some new friends I also saw some old faces. I hope we

can do this tournament again soon!”

I am so inspired by Sam's enthusiasm and dedication to everything she does!

She's been a huge asset to Key Club this year, taking on many leadership

positions and being a great club member. She led a fantastic mini-service

event on December 4th's meeting, I'm so excited for the great things she will

do in the near future!
