Thailand Rated As One of TheBest Markets for Water andWastewater Treatment ProgramsAsia-Pacific comprises a huge market for water and wastewater treatment equipment and technology. In 2010 alone it generated around US$5 billion in revenue. Currently the area ranks as one of the world’s most lucrative water markets in the world – and it’s projected to stay there through 2016. The municipal segment makes up 60% of the water and wastewater treatment market and about 40% goes to industry. The equipment market is divided, with 35% going for sanitized water and 65% for wastewater treatment. Overall growth for the whole area is projected at about 9.7% until 2016.

Right now many countries in Southeast Asia are instituting new legislation for wastewater treatment which is increas-ing the demand for equipment in both the municipal and industrial sectors. From a demand and growth perspective, the most attractive markets between 2011 and 2016 will be China, India, Indonesia, the Philippines and Thailand.

Thailand to Invest More Than 350 Billion Baht in Water Management Programs Over the Next 4 Years

Thailand will invest at least 150 billion baht in water management infrastructure within the next 12 months, according to Thailand’s Deputy Premier Kittiratt Na-Ranong. And a total of more than 350 billion baht will be invested through water management programs. 300 billion Baht will be for infrastructure development in the Chao Phraya river and eight subsidiary river basins. The remaining 50 billion Baht will be earmarked for 17 other basins around the country.
