Pishwanton has a small flock of six Lleyn sheep, two Shetlanders and will soon buy two Hebridean sheep. These form the basis of spinning, felting, weaving and knitting courses in the Wood. You can learn how to look after sheep and goats, comb out cashmere, shear sheep, card, spin, felt, dye and weave wool in a series of courses led by Eta Ingham Lawrie well known throughout the U.K. for her plant dye and creative weaving classes. Moira Dornan—local spinning and crafts woman and Marilyn Caddell—fungal dyeing expert.

Courses are suitable for people with special needs.

• Spin wool into yarn on a self-made drop spindle or spinning wheel

• Weave some cloth or a wall hanging on your own loom with self spun yarn

Mar 2nd / 3rd - W/E (1)

Choosing and cutting the trees for your loom forming the loom, learning joints and making the frame. Choosing wood for a drop spindle and learning how to use it. Spinning yarn to weave.

Mar 16th / 17th - W/E (2) Warping up the loom, spinning and weaving your own cloth or wall hanging

Plant dying and spinning wool and cashmere with Eta Ingham and Moira Dornan Jun 8th / 9th

Shearing, scouring, spinning fresh fleece from our sheep Jun 2013 - date tbc

Study, Paint and Weave the Landscape with Eta Ingham Law-rie and Margaret Colquhoun

Jul 5th / 6th Learn how to “See Landscape with New Eyes” connect to the essence of the place with painting exercises. Weave the place in plant dyed wool to preserve the sum-mer mood of your chosen place forever.
