Production Sale

Dear Cattlemen,

We would like to extend a big thank you to our past customers for your support of our program and invite you to our 2016 Production Sale. We are a family operation and our children also have their own cattle within our herd so you will notice additional prefixes besides our DCHD prefix.

The calves came in heavier at weaning this year. Average daily gains are calculated from the day of weaning to current weights. The bulls have been fed Harvest States Bull Challenger along with free choice hay to ensure good structural develop-ment and longevity. This year’s set of bulls have been doing exceptionally well by averaging 4.4 pounds/day at catalog time.

Some of the bulls have been genomic tested and polled tested plus all black bulls have been coat tested; results are noted within the catalog.

A select number of 2 year old bulls are available by private treaty.

We strive for problem free calving, excellent disposition and performance in our cattle. A good disposition is a must as most of our cow workers and calf pushers are kids. Our cows have to be moderate framed & able to travel across pastures as they are not pampered. Our cows are proving to be productive and have good longevity as we are seeing up to five generations all still producing in our herd. We were honored to be the home of 25 Dam of Distinction and Dam of Merit cows. All of these cows were born and raised here at GBG. We were also listed in the top 20 Dam of Merit and Dams of Distinction Owners and Breeders in the AGA for these elite cows in 2015.

We have been selling replacement heifers by private treaty for a number of years and are including registered heifers in the sale with the commercial heifers available for sale at the ranch. The heifers have been fed chopped hay with some corn mixed in for a very modest gain. We believe in sending replacement heifers out to pasture ready to grow and breed easily in the spring. With this method of feeding the heifers really bloom in the pasture and breed easily.

They are noted as such in the footnotes if applicable. Adjusted yearling weights and scrotal measurements will be available sale day in the form of a supplement sheet.

FEEDING & DELIVERY: Heifers:Please talk with us if arrangements need to be made regarding the heifers.Yearling bulls: Option 1: Take your yearling bulls home the day of the sale and receive $50 off your purchase price. Have your veterinarian perform a breed-ing soundness exam within 2 weeks of breeding season or before you turn your bull out.Option 2: Golden Buckle Gelbvieh feeds and cares for the bulls until April 1, provide a breeding soundness exam and delivery or we will work with you on delivery if located outside of ND. Buyer assumes all risk if bulls are left for Golden Buckle Gelbvieh to feed.

INSURANCE: Ownership transfers at time of sale. It is required that bulls be insured, if buyer chooses option 2 in feeding and delivery and the bulls return to Golden Buckle Gelbvieh.

SEMEN RIGHTS: The respective owners reserve 50% semen rights on all bulls selling and reserves the right for in herd use of semen from any bull offered for sale.

GOLDEN BUCKLE GELBVIEH COW HERD HONOR:The American Gelbvieh Association Herdbook releases Dam of Merit females and Dam of Distinction females for the Gelbvieh breed on an annual basis. Only 3.6 percent of the active cows in the AGA herdbook qualify for Dam of Merit & only 0.8 percent of all active cows qualify for Dam of Distinction.
