Bad Power point Presentations

-Too much text -have hard to read colors-have just one word -have too much animation (distracting)-have text that is too small-use a trendy font-have copywrited photos/clipart-have pixelated photos-photo collage-have bad grammar-slide for each and every section of presentation-crutch for those who don’t practice-copy and paste from the outline

Good Power point Presentations

-Bullet points for the information-Use key words and phrases-3-4 points per slide-Text is in same font throughout-No more than two fonts/colors-consistent and minimal animation-text is atleast 27+ point font-use a standard font (Times, Arial) -not always but preferred-simple, lightly colored background behind a dark colored font-consistent colored slides throughout presentation-have balanced slides with text and photos/clipart-have graphs with titles that are easy to read-use slides sparingly and only to emphasize certain information

An example of where a photo collage works- Title Slide. Could also be used on the final slide.

Some corporations have company powerpoint templates to match their branding.

Consider coming up with your own template that matches your website. You do not have to fill every inch of the slide. Include your name and website on each slide.

Balance your slides with graphics. Don’t be afraid to use relevant photos/graphics/clipart in conjunction with the text.
