At the moment, POS for Magento 2 only manage Simple, Virtual and Configurable products.

2. Installation

First InstallationTo install a boostmyshop magento2 extension on your platform, process the following steps:

• Download zip archive from your boostmyshop customer account

• Upload files on your server : once uploaded, module must be in directory app/code/BoostMyShop/PointOfSales

• Connect on your server via SSH, and run the following commands:

php bin/magento module:enable BoostMyShop_PointOfSalesphp bin/magento setup:upgradephp bin/magento setup:di:compilephp bin/magento setup:static-content:deploy

Once everything is done, go back in Magento, select menu system > web setup wizard, then click on the componentmanager button : you should see the new extension here.

UpgradeThe upgrade process is exactly the same as the installation process

Disable extensionTo disable an extension, select menu system > web setup wizard, then click on the component manager button.

Find the extension you want to disable and select “disable” in the “Actions” column.

3. Configuration

POS configuration

General

These settings will define the global rules of POS.

Cash drawer

These settings are related to the cash drawer opening pop-up that will help you to define which amount is in the cashdrawer of your shop at the beginning of each working day.

There you can define guest customer data, that will default customer data used when orders are created withoutcustomer selection.

Flush current user settings Flush all POS settings from Magento registry

Multiple Payment configurationMultiple payment is a payment method part of POS extension, that will allow you to affect different payment methodsto a single order, created through POS.

Multiple Payment settings are available from menuStores > Configuration > Sales > Payment methods > POS Multiple Payment :

Option Description

Enabled Defines if Multiple Payment method is enabled

Title Multiple Payment method title, displayed through Magento backend

New Order Status New order status affected to order created with this payment method

Sort order Payment method sort order

Methods Payment methods available when Multiple Payment is affected to an order

Method to use for change given Payment method used for the change when payment amount exceed ordertotal

Note

Method used for cash : Before being able to configure this, save previous changes clicking on Save.

Use example : When you create an order using Multiple Payment method, payment records total exceed ordertotal : order total is 78$, customer gives you a 100$ bill. In this case, POS will create an additionnal record of -22$to handle the changeusing the Method to use for change given payment method.

Methods : In this field, you have to separate all payment methods by a coma.

For example : cash,check,credit card,bank transfer

4. CheckoutThe POS interface is available via menu sales > Point Of Sales > Checkout.

You are directly redirected to the screen to place a new order

User and store switcherPOS supports Magento multiple store and users : when you create a new order, it will use the current store and user.

To switch to a different store or user, use the button at the top of the screen (click on the user name / store name).

When the order is created, the selected user is stored in the order. You can retrieve the user that created an orderfrom the “Sales menu” on the left.

Select customer modePOS orders support 3 different modes :

• Guest: you don’t need to enter any customer details to create the order. In this case, the system will use thesettings configured in sales > point of sales > configuration > Guest customer to create the new order and fillcustomer details.

• Existing customer : choose an existing customer from Magento database.

• New customer : create a new customer entering customer name, email address and group.

To select a mode, click on the customer button a the bottom : a popup opens where you can select the customermode.

Whatever method you use, you can enter or edit the customer address and details in the first tab of the popup“Customer details”.

Once you have configured the customer settings, click on the “Done” button to apply.

You have 3 different possibilities to add products to POS checkout screen :

Using the search function

Click on the magnifier logo in the top right corner, to open the “Search products” pop-up.

It will allow you to search products by Name, SKU or by barcode (depending the barcode attribute configured inthe module configuration).

Once results are displayed, click on any product to add it to the current quote.

Using the shortcuts pop-up

Click on the “Shortcuts” button at the bottom of the Checkout screen to open the “Shortcuts” pop-up.

To add a product to the Shortcuts list take a look at your products attributes, you should find a “POS shortcut”one that will add product to the Shortcuts list if set to “Yes”.

You can set it to “Yes” for a single product at a time from the Magento product view, or for multiple ones usingthe “Update attributes” mass action from the Products > Catalog grid.

Using a barcode scanner

Once the barcode attribute has been configured fromStores > Configuration > Point of Sales > General > Barcode attribute, you will be ableto add any product directly from the POS Checkout screen, simply scanning its barcode with your barcodereader.

If the barcode scanned is not recognized, a warning message will de displayed.

Edit product details

When a product has been added to the cart, you can then edit it clicking on it.

In this new popup, you will be able to update its quantity and also its unit price.

CLick on the “Done” button to apply changes made.

Chose shipping methodPOS orders support any magento shipping method : you can then use a regular shipping method (for instance UPSor FEDEX) when you create an order to handle store to web orders.

POS extension adds a new shipping method in Magento : Store Pickup. You can customize this method title in stores> configuration > sales > shipping method > Store pickup.

You can define the default shipping method for POS orders in sales > Point Of Sales > Configuration > Checkout >Default shipping method.

If you want to change the shipping method in POS, click on the “Shipping method” button at the bottom (the first one): a new popup opens, then select the desired method.

Set payment details and create orderTo complete the order, click on the “Pay” button at the bottom right corner : it displays the final popup where you canenter the discount code, payment details and finish the order.

If you have a discount to apply to the order total amount, the only way to do it in POS is to use a Magento couponcode.

To use a couypon code, please fill it in the “Coupon code” text box and click on button “Apply”.

If the coupon code is valid, the order total will be updated accordingly.

Currently, POS supports every offline payment method in Magento.

The list of all available payment methods in this screen is so the one of all enabled offline payment methods inMagento.

Also, POS introduces an additional payment method named Multiple Payment.

This method allows to fill several payment records for a single order.

By this way, you will be able to create for example an order with $100 paid by check, and $50 paid by cash, for anorder total of $150.

To use this payment method, fill all payment details in the differents multiple payment fields, and click on the “Createorder” button.

5. Other featuresThe main POS interface provides additional screen, useful to manage your store business.

Checkout

This is the main screen of Point of Sales, from where orders will be processed.

Sales

Displays the list of orders in magento, according to the current store selected.

Clicking on an order, you can get the order details and re-print invoice / receipt.

Customers

Customers menu displays the list of the customers.

Clicking on a customer, you get the customer details but also the orders history for the current customer.

Reports

The reports menu displays several reports to analyse your business.

Every reports use the date range set at the top (from and to text boxes). If you change these settings, click on the“Refresh” button to apply.

List

• Totals : this is the turnover for the selected period and the selected store.

• Payments : summarizes the total per payment method

• Best sellers : displays the best seller products (quantity and total)

• Sales by vendor : this is the turnover per vendor

Z-Report

You can print the Z-Report using the “Print Z-Report” button at the top of the screen.

The Z-Report is designed to summarize every details for the sales and payments for the current date.

You can print the Z-Report on your receipt printer, it uses the same layout.

Z-Report details :

• Report date : the date when the report has been printed

• Register : current user and store name

• Start date / closing date : dates configured in the reports screen

• Opening total : this is the cash drawer level at the beginning of the period

• Item sales : total sales

• Item returns : total of items returned

• Tax : total of taxes

• Total : total of the sales + taxes minus returns

• Tax collected : this is a summary of the taxes grouped by tax rate

• Total per method : this is the total of the payments grouped by payment method

• Transaction per method : this is the number of payments grouped by payment method

• Sales : displays the list of the sales with the payment records (if a sale contains several payment records, itis displayed -several time)

• Cash drawer expected: this is the value of the cash drawer at the end of the period

Cash drawer opening valueAt the start of each day, you can enable a cash drawer opening pop-up to define the amount of money being in thecash drawer :

That pop-up can be enabled from the module configuration : Point Of Sales - Cash drawer configuration.

Then, this opening amount will be displayed on Z-Reports generated from POS :

Like that, you will be able to get a correct value on Z-Reports for the line “Cash drawer expected”, where expectedamount will be the total amount of opening value plus all sales orders made from POS.
