THE PROBLEM OF HOUSING PRICE FOR
YOUNG PEOPLE IN SPAIN
Patricia Pérez, 2ºC English, EOI Avilés
My name is Patricia, I’m 26 years old and I’m going to talk about the most important problem for
young people in Spain: “The problem of housing price”
Patricia Pérez, 2ºC English, EOI Avilés
If you look for a new flat in Spain, its average price is about 180.000 euros (at least in Asturias, where I
live).

The average price of a flat is a very high price...
But the average salary is not so high.
And this is a problem!
Patricia Pérez, 2ºC English, EOI Avilés
The average salary of Spanish young people is well below 800
euros so if you buy a flat...
Patricia Pérez, 2ºC English, EOI Avilés
...you have to take about 500 euros away to pay the mortgage,
Patricia Pérez, 2ºC English, EOI Avilés
...and then you need to take about three hundred euros away to pay the electricity, the phone
and the gas bills
Patricia Pérez, 2ºC English, EOI Avilés
...and you must live all the month without money, so you can’t eat ...
And this is a problem!
Patricia Pérez, 2ºC English, EOI Avilés
The answer to our problem is our parents’ patience...
... because Spanish people don’t leave their parents’ house until
their thirties.
Patricia Pérez, 2ºC English, EOI Avilés
If we live with our parents for a few years while we work...
...we can pay our flat and eat at the same time.

What good luck!What good luck!
