lot is happening this period as Nigeria clocks 54. Of course, it is a time to celebrate and that is what we at 4clique will not bore you with. But we also want to use the period to reflect on a lot of things going on in the country as it marks a new year. The anniversary is disquieting as it is in the midst of rumblings of

war in the northeast of the country. Although, our soldiers have stepped up the fight against Boko haram and its leader, Mohammed Bashir, bearing the name of the initial Shekau, has also been killed. But the Chibok girls are still missing and I think there is activities behind the curtain as the United States wants to know why some top army brass are stashing huge funds abroad while the army is poorly armed despite the billions earmarked for the army in the budget. Just as the world joined us in the clamor for the ‘Free Our Girls Campaign,’ we also want to join the world to clamor for the release of Alan Henning. This is the taxi driver currently being held by ISIS, another terrorist group that is like Boko haram here, only this time on a global scale. ISIS is terrorizing the Levant (Syria, Iraq area) and trying to carve out a caliphate state. The world can never have too much love, but too much war is bad. Like we believe in 4clique, let us love one and all regard-less of color or creed. Love is a beautiful gift we can share and this was what Alan went to share in Syria. Being a non-Muslim, he went to help other Muslims before he was kidnapped by the ISIS who now wants to execute him for being a ‘westerner.’ As Bob Marley sang, “One love, One heart, let’s come together and feel alright… there is one question I really want to ask (One love), is there a place for the hopeless sinner, who has hurt all mankind just to save his own beliefs?” Meanwhile as our boys battle Boko haram in the north, we should be conscious of Ebola in the south o. Anyways, guys know how to chop knuckle. But what about our girls now, do they still hug? Unilag girls sabi hug! Shakara too much. Boys who want to runs them babes will find some tips in this edition to what girls, especially in Akoka are looking for in a dude. But apart from the jokes and poems we have in this edition, let us also mull over the thought of who is cheating more in relation-ship these days. Men or women, and why do women do it – if at all? And hey, that reminds me: have you got wind of the latest phablet and smartphones en vogue? I hear some phones are smarter now than many men…. We have a list of such phones. Do not dull yourself, get a smart-phone! Let the world be at just a touch of the finger away from you. You will be surprised at the whole new world of ideas, information and social net-work that will be opened to you at the touch of a button. Akokites, we celebrate with you the memory of the late Professor Ade Ajayi, the former vice-chancellor who contributed immensely to the transformation of your enviable university. He was such a gifted leader that he was called Head of State. Three gbosa for Baba!

In our quest to bring interesting gist to our readers, we went after one of the renowned names in Nigeria’s music industry. We were able to hold an exclusive interview with Oluwa-seun Morihanfen popularly known as ‘Sean Tizzle’. Born in late 80’s, Tizzle dazzles in many videos, both single and featured, with many of his songs creating rhythmic tremors in clubs and at parties within and outside Nigeria. gist around the world

igeria is definitely a force to reckon with in African

politics, in the least. At 54, the country can be said to have

made some remarkable strides as an African hegemony. However, the kind of leaders produced are still nothing much to write about thereby, slowing down the growth of the nation. It is like a man with a mouth full of milk teeth. If all hands can be on deck in all quarters, the growth of the country will not only be exponential but as well astronomical. Nigeria being hegemony in Africa, especially West Africa, is fast slipping down that awe. It is a shame that army of ragtag terrorists could be a pain in the neck for the Nigerian Army. An army that would always give nightmare to Charles Taylor and his NPFL, and as well as the RUF in Sierra Leone, an army that performed well in the deserts of Mali. Now, the Cameroonian army is scoring more records of success against Boko Haram than the Nigerian military. Corruption had become so bad that the Nigerian army has become so poorly armed and funded. The high level corruption in the military (air, army and navy) is the result of contract inflation and purchase of obsolete equipment and arms for these soldiers facing death. The high level of corruption among senior officers at the risk of the sol-diers’ lives resulted to a mutiny by some soldiers against a general. These soldiers were court-martialed and sentenced to death. This rot and corruption that showcased poor and obsolete equipment in the Nigerian army affected the morale of the Americans who were here as techni-cal and military advisers in the fight against Boko Haram. In 2012, the defense budget was N34.36 bil-lion with N5.71 billion earmarked to purchase equipments for the army. That is a huge sum in a budgetary year alone, for there not to be anything

en-

cour-aging

for the soldiers to com-bat an enemy with properly. Mean-while, General Ihe-jirika is reportedly one of the richest retired generals in Nigeria and so far, he is gun-ning to contest for election in Abia governorship election. U.S Ambassador to Nigeria, James Entwistle, met recently with President Jonathan in Aso Rock and revealed that the U.S was concerned about the sudden riches of General Ihejirika who might have diverted billions meant for the army to foreign accounts. President Obama and the U.S secre-

tary of state, John Kerry, are expected to discuss the need to probe senior

army officers at some close ses-sions with Jonathan during

the United Nations General Assembly. Nigeria is a mature

country at 54 years old, but it is a shame that its leadership class is like a set of milk teeth

in the mouth of this adult. An adult is not expected to still be eating from a feeding bottle. And adult is meant to be responsible. Irresponsi-bility is flaking off the honor of this great nation and funds that should be used for national use are being diverted for selfish purposes. If each leader can be responsible in his field, this country will be an envy of the world.

he international version of Nigeria’s Boko Haram right now is the ISIS fighting for an Islamic state in Iraq. The ISIS under the leadership of Abu

Bakr al-Baghdadi has shown itself to be brutal and uncompromising. So far, the ISIS has dislodged thousands of Iraqis who fled into other countries as Baghdadi and his mu-jaheddins slaughter non-Muslims and moder-ate Muslims in an attempt to establish a strict Islamic caliphate. The ISIS is a Sunni-dominat-ed group that is in control of large areas of Syria and Iraq. The group has beheaded three Westerners, Haines and two other American journalists, James Foley and Steven Sotlof.

The executions were described by the ISIS as a “message for the Americans and her allies” carrying out airstrikes against ISIS. Now, there is a fourth Westerner in ISIS captive who is likely to be executed too by the group. Alan Henning is a taxi driver from Manchester, UK, who volunteered to help people in Syria. The father of two was captured by ISIS in a convoy with his Muslim friends to go and help people in need in the war-torn area. It was the day after Christmas that he was captured and now being threat-ened as the fourth Westerner to be beheaded by ISIS.

There has been message of pleas from the family, friends and Muslim clerics for the ISIS not to execute this good man who was trying to help those who badly needed help. This would not help ISIS in any way, besides Alan left his country to help Mus-lims in war-ravaged Syria even as he is not a Muslim. Alan’s compassion to commit himself to volunteer work should be seen as a good heart to be spared by the ISIS fighters.

Mrs. Henning has sent a message to ISIS that “Alan is a peaceful, selfless man who left his family and his job as a taxi driver in the UK to drive in a convoy all the way to Syria with his Muslim col-leagues and friends

uying a new smartphone is a lot like ordering a pizza: You think it’s a relatively simple task until you realize the vast number of choices you must

make. Along with choosing a form factor, screen size, and preferred platform, you must also make sure the price is right, decide on a

voice and data plan, and ensure the phone is supported by your carrier of choice. Anyone remember when your only smartphone choice was a BlackBerry? We’ve culled 7 of the most popular devices on the market today, and why.

iPhone 6After many months of speculation, rumors and leaked images, this next-generation iPhone 6 features a 4.7-inch Retina HD display (while the aptly named iPhone

6 Plus boasts a 5.5-inch Retina HD display) sold a record of more than 10 million iPhones the first weekend two new versions

hit stores, helping Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook in a push to narrow Samsung Electronics Co.’s lead in bigger-screen smartphones.

Samsung Galaxy S5The well-rounded Samsung Galaxy S5 might not be earth-shatteringly different from the S4, but this thin and lightweight Android device include a sharp 5.1-inch Super AMOLED full HD screen, advanced

cameras, a long-lasting 2800 mAh battery, S Health fitness tracker with integrated heart-rate moni-

tor, download booster (over Wi-Fi and LTE) and fingerprint scanner for

added security.

Sony Xperia Z2Available in white, black and purple, the Xperia Z2 has a stellar camera phone that can shoot ultra-high definition (4K) video. What’s more, it rocks a clear 5.2-inch HD screen, loud and

clear audio through its stereo speak-ers, and exclusive Sony con-

tent, such as the latest Michael Jackson album, Xcape, downloadable for free.

LG G3 “Simple is the new smart” is the tagline for

LG’s just-launched G3 smart-phone. Features include a

Quad HD screen (2560 x 1440 resolution), power-ful Qualcomm Snap-dragon 801 processor, 13-megapixel rear-facing camera and long-lasting and removable 3000 mAh battery.

Nokia Lumia 1520This Windows Phone offers a number of ex-clusives not found in its Android and iOS coun-terparts: the resource-ful Start screen with “live” tiles that display info and images in real time; multiple colors to choose from (green, red, yellow, black, and white); support for the full Mi-crosoft Office experience (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote,

and others). Along with its phablet-size 1080p HD screen, other notable features include a 20-megapixel camera, long-lasting 3400 mAh battery, and Cortana, a voice-activated personal assistant that bests Siri in a few areas.

Motorola Moto XThe 2014 Moto X fea-tures a bigger display,

more dura-ble metal body, better bat-tery and

some exclusive software. Powered by the latest Android platform, Motorola’s latest sports a 5.2-inch 1080p HD display, an improved rear-facing camera that can shoot 4K video, and infrared sensors to sense your hand or face to wake up the sleeping phone.

Huawei Ascend Mate 2 4GThis “phablet” – half phone, half tablet – delivers a huge 6.1-inch IPS display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3, quad-core 1.6 GHz processor, expandable memory (microSD) and dual cam-eras: 13-megapixel rear-facing and 5-megapixel front-facing. Despite its size, this Android KitKat-powered device measures just 9.5mm slim, therefore it still fits comfortably in your hand, and weighs in at only 202 grams.

Infectious Mononucleosis (IM)

lso known as mono, glandular fever, Pfeiffer’s disease, Filatov’s disease, and

sometimes colloquially as the kissing disease (from its oral transmission) is an infectious, widespread viral disease caused by the Epstein–Barr virus (EBV), one type of herpes virus, against

which over 90% of adults are likely to have acquired immunity by the age of 40. Occasion-ally, the symptoms can recur at a later

period. Most people are exposed to the virus as children, when the disease produces no noticeable or only flu-like symptoms. You’re most likely to get mononucleosis with all the signs and symptoms if you’re an adolescent or young adult. Young children usually have few symptoms, and the in-fection often goes unrecognized. If you have mononucleosis, it’s important to be careful of certain complications such as an enlarged spleen.

SymptomsFatigue, general feeling of unwell (malaise),sore throat, perhaps a strep throat that doesn’t get better with antibiotic use, Fever, Swollen lymph nodes in your

neck and armpits, Swollen tonsils, Head-ache,

Skin rash, Soft, Swollen spleen. The virus has an incubation period of approximately four to six weeks, although in young chil-dren this period may be shorter. Signs and symptoms such as fever and sore throat usually lessen within a couple of weeks, although fatigue, enlarged lymph nodes and a swollen spleen may last for a few weeks longer.

TransmissionEpstein–Barr virus infection is spread via all body fluids: saliva, sweats, blood, etc. and has an in-cubation period of four to seven weeks. The length of time that an individual remains contagious is unclear, but the chances of passing the illness to someone else may be the highest during the first six weeks following infec-tion. Some studies indicate that a person can spread the infection for many months, possibly up to a year and a half.

PreventionMononucleosis is spread through saliva. If you’re infected, you can help prevent spreading the virus to others by not kissing them and by not sharing food, dishes, glass-es and utensils until several days after your fever has subsided and even longer, if possible. The Epstein-Barr virus may persist in your saliva for months after the infection. No vaccine exists to prevent mononucleosis.

Amazing Health FactsEverybody has one strong eye and one weak eye.

A normal human being can sur-vive 20 days without eating but can survive only 2 days without drinking.

The only part of your body that has no blood supply is the cornea in the eye. It gets its oxygen directly from air.

The colder the room you sleep, the higher the chances are that you would get a nightmare.

The hardest bone in the human body is the jaw bone.

The strongest muscle in the body is the human tongue.

Ebola Awareness

Avoid spreading unverified infor-mation to reduce sudden fears.

Make sure your environment is always clean and wash your hand regularly.

Visit the nearest hospital if you notice any increase in your temperature.

to help those most in need,” she said in the statement. She expressed concern that his captors weren’t answering her calls for his release. “I have sent some messages but they have not been responded to,” she said.

But ISIS had shown no regard so far for pleas from the families of its Western hos-tages. Days before James Foley’s killing was made public on August 19, his family sent the extremists a message to show mercy but they never heard back. The week before Sotlof’s execution, his mother released a video pleading with ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi not to kill him. And news of Haine’s death came the same day that his family re-leased a brief message to his captors through the UK Foreign Office. Yet, all these men were beheaded without mercy.

A volunteer doctor who was with Alan be-fore his capture, Islam-Zulfiqar has also sent a message for the people holding Henning. “As your sister in Islam, I would implore you and beg of you: please spare the life of this in-nocent man,” she said. “He is not part of your struggle. He is not to blame for the actions of Western governments that you fight.” She said members of the volunteer convoy gave Henning the affectionate nickname “Gadget,” for his love of all things technical. “He really is the guy that fixes everything,” she told CNN. She mentioned his smile, his concern for those around him and “his beautiful, beauti-ful golden heart.” It is strongly hoped that ISIS know that Alan was out there helping their fellow Muslims in a display of love.

ho qualifies to be the greatest cheat, the man or the woman? Society for very long

has got us believing that the man is more likely to be the one to cheat in a relationship than the woman. But is this true? Are most of our societal beliefs about women wrong? Are women final-ly revealing the fact that women are as much likely to cheat in a relationship as men? Statistics are showing that at least even the girls most people consider as “good girls” have cheated while in a relationship at least once. This might sound scandalous but it is true. Girls cheat as much as men if not more than men these days.

This is not to say that every woman would have cheated at some point in her life or in her relationship. The fact still remains that some women cheat and some never cheat all, all their lives. But the issue at stake is that more women are now more likely

to cheat so easily on their part-ners than ever before. Why is this now the case? Are women that easy to trick or are they getting confused and unwise?

Well, fact is that women around the world have more going for them these days. They are more exposed to the liberated cultures

of the west these days than was previously the case. Via television and the internet, several women have acquired attitudes and traits from western role models on television shows and movies. These popular stars loved and watched around the world are often of questionable character. The pressure thus is to want to look and be like them. These stars and several reality shows they follow religiously cheapen their

view on sex, morality and fidelity and end up influencing their moral choices. Also, the internet and social media has contributed to this degenerating trend. They make it easier to hook up with any category of people for any reason of your choice. There are loads of social sites, hook up sites, dating sites etc on the Web. A woman is lonely now only if she chose to be.

The modern woman these days is very bold and fearless and is not restricted to living out her wishes and desires. But the woman is still traditionally the weaker sex. Women are easier to be influ-enced emotionally than men,

despite the fact that they are the ones to initially play hard to get. In the end they always fall for the girlfriend stealer who knows the right trick to play on them. Women form emotional bonds very fast. They love the man who can give them the emotional shoulder to lean on. A woman who moves outside of her relation-ship and cheats on her partner would very easily deceive herself that her attraction for the new guy is love. The truth is women have stronger emotional needs than men, they are consciously or unconsciously in search of that relationship that would satisfy those emotional needs, So they fall in love and out of love very easily depending on if they are getting those needs met or not. A man can remain in love with his partner but cheat on her out

of sexual excitability because he does not have very strong emotional needs as the woman but he could have very strong sexual needs. A woman’s emotional need is to be loved, be appreciated thought as beautiful, held in high esteem, desired, and showered with material gifts

and flattery. She keeps moving trying to get these needs satisfied and ends up sleeping

with people she didn’t plan to.

Several women these days are upwardly mobile like the men folk, working on careers, fighting for promotions and privileges,

running businesses and heading organiza-tions. This is a very good age for women. They are getting not only more power-ful but having more feeling of being able to achieve anything they want .This feeling

is what gives some women the freedom to explore their sexual-ity as freely as their male coun-

terparts .This is very common among the senior single girls. Not only this, women have been said to cheat for the dumbest reasons. It could be being in too close contact with someone of the opposite sex, not being able to resist material temptations, not being able to say no, low self appreciation or low self esteem, to get back at their partners for cheating, for not getting enough attention from her beau etc. whatever is the case they are proving that the scale is tilting towards women being equal cheaters as men these days.

A man can remain in love with his partner but cheat

ummer is one period when families like to travel for vacation and use the op-portunity to spend private

time together as a family. Either trave-ling outside the country or within the country, spending valuable and private time is together very impor-tant. Sharing travel experience and/or family vacation with one’s family can be a bit stressful just like I had trave-ling with my family for the first time. Most travelers’ favorite destination for the summer holiday is the United Arab Emirates because of their exotic culture and fast growing economy. I decided to take my family on a 10-day visit to the country. Contacting local agency, visa, flight, transport to hotel, booking hotel reservation and site excursions had all being pre-arranged, which made the journey smooth and easy. On board the flight, the kids had a wonderful time and the journey began as more of an experi-ence than just a vacation, and doing things which I would normally not do because of my busy schedule. Despite being on holiday, I still found Bloomberg financial reports my favorite on the flight, listening to different CEO’s and how they got their companies on a multinational and multimillion platforms. Upon arrival at the UAE, transportation to the hotel went smoothly and after we checked

in, the vacation began proper. Where and where do we visit? Apart from the pre-arranged excursion visits around the UAE, thoughts came and thanks to Google, which is always a friend to help in locating more interesting places to visit. Starting the excursion with visit to Atlantis where you have the New World of Wonders, like the lost chamber, Aquaventure (the kids would always refuse to go home). Going for shop-ping at the malls is always interesting as well and so visiting the Emirate & Dubai Mall was fun. There was also the Dubai Aquarium and Under Water Zoo at the Dubai Mall. My family and I also visited The Butcher Grill @ The Walk, JBR. You are not likely to visit all the places listed in your top-to-visit list because interesting places to visit keep coming up. And oh, I almost forgot to mention spending a weekend at the Jumeirah Beach, which is always an interesting place where you can meet people from diverse cultures, all in the UAE to have fun. Yes, you can have a Dhow Cruise with dinner too to make the day so

‘turquoise-marine’ perfect.

If you also love movies, do please visit the Reel Cinema at the Jumeirah Beach, for it is also a wonderful experience with a world class cinema, offering an unparalleled movie experience. I could go on and list more places visited along with the experiences but my family and I needed to leave the UAE and return home to Nigeria. Coming back home, the flight was also interesting back to our be-loved country Nigeria, and my children would not have objected to extending our stay in the Emirate country.

What is your plan for next year summer? Where do you plan to visit? Dubai? London? Las Vegas? Miami? Paris? Rome? Berlin? Wherever you plan to visit, always make sure you get the good memories because they are GOLDEN.

ith the evolution of the game, new rules of soccer are introduced at regular intervals. The soccer rules regulations were formed

in 1886 and have not changed drastically. However, they have been modified and have taken a changed shape in order to meet the demands of the game. These new rules for football are further revised annually by FIFA usually in the month of July. It is important for all the players to be abreast with the latest rules so as to understand the game both infield and out of the field equally well.

The Changed RulesHave soccer rules changed? If this is the ques-tion going on in your mind, here is a summa-ry of a few rules that have changed in recent times. Beginning with the fall 2008 season, the soccer rules change for shin guards are that they must meet the National Operating Committee on Standards for Athletic Equip-ment (NOCSAE) specifications in terms of material, shape, etc.

Till the last season the first caution (yellow card) for an illegally equipped player was is-sued to the coach. However, as per new rules

of soccer, all subsequent cautions for illegally equipped players will be issue directly to the players and not the coach. The coach is re-sponsible for his or her players to be properly and legally equipped.

Issue of sportsmanship is to be addressed by the head referee during the pre-game conference with the head coach and team captains. At this conference, the referee will inquire from the coach about proper and legal equipment of the players. The commit-tee altered the rule regarding the allowable width of fields keeping in view the involve-ment of several college and professional fields. Maximum width was expanded from 75 yards to 80 yards.

Regulation of usage of portable goals was introduced. These goals should be anchored at least 2 yards in front of the base line of the existing football goal posts.New rules of football over the yellow card issue is that a player given a second yellow card of the competition in the semi-finals is not suspended for the finals, if his team quali-fies. Earlier if a player picks up a yellow card in quarter-final and semi-final, he was always suspended for the finals.

Other points of emphasis are team benches, knee braces, game management, pre-game responsibilities and handling. Conclusively, you will see the evolution of the game into something even more competitive as time goes by.
