It gives me immense pleasure to announce the commencement of the admission process ofMBA in Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Venture Development programme for theacademic year 2019-20 at the Department of Management Studies, NSUT.

Netaji Subhas University of Technology (formerly NSIT) is nationally known for holisticeducation focusing on research, innovation and application. NSUT has a 36- year-old legacyof excellence in education and technology development. Our vision, at NSUT, is to be aworld class university through education, innovation and research for the service ofhumanity. We are focused and committed towards empowering our students with theknowledge and skills that let them open their wings and fly high. The university is on thepath of expending its horizons by starting new management programmes at the UG and PGlevel like BBA, MBA, and MBA in Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Venture Development.

The MBA in Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Venture Development is designed with apractice-based curriculum. It is a hands-on MBA experience where the students will have theopportunities to fulfill their dreams of venture development during their MBA, byestablishing and developing a venture with knowledge inputs, experiential learning, trainingand support from the University. ABOUT UNIVERSITY

Netaji Subhas University of Technology (NSUT) is a centre of higher technical educationin India. NSUT (formerly Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology (NSIT)) was anautonomous Institution under the Govt. of NCT of Delhi and affiliated to University ofDelhi. It was established in the year 1983 as Delhi Institute of Technology with theobjective of meeting the growing demands of manpower in the emerging fields ofengineering and technology with a close social and industrial interface. Over a period oftime, the institute has carved a niche for itself, both nationally and internationally, forexcellence in technical education and research.

The University has grown by leaps and bounds since its inception, both in size and in thescope of its activities. The overall academic environment in the University is highlyconducive for achieving excellence in higher education and research. It has beenconsistently ranked as one of the top engineering colleges in India and has featuredprominently in various national level surveys conducted by reputed professional and trademagazines.

NSUT has the legacy of achieving excellence in education and research in the area ofEngineering and Technology. Apart from being instrumental in providing quality

With this legacy, NSUT further strives to broadenits education areas by introducing various programmes at UG and PG levels to impartknowledge in the area of business administration in the Department of ManagementStudies. Currently NSUT offers Bachelor of Engineering, Master of Technology and PhD.

NSUT INCUBATION AND INNOVATION FOUNDATION (NSUT-IIF)

NSUT-IIF provides a host of support services to start-ups, and organizes selection of

newer incubatees. Some of the startups incubated by NSUT-IIF are Readers Crib, an e-

commerce marketplace for renting of books; CacheFi, linux smart routers powerful

enough to run multiple applications; Triposse, a tech aggregator for bespoke group travel

services; newer startups in the area of low-cost technology and the best harvesting

practices for horticulture crops farmers community; smart mechanization for small

farmers; making roads safer using in-car technology to make driving better and monitored

for drivers, authorities, as well as third parties; machine learning startups to get the best

price from all major online stores in India, and compare it with the offline stores; and

Stories Worth Sharing for teenagers and adults, and are in the process of financing.

NSUT has a mix of subject matter experts and management focused faculty members

along with motivated students, technical societies and an alumni network to

operationalize innovation and startup activities. Various societies at NSUT like IEEE,

SAE, ISA, CSI, and C.E.D.T. Lab have helped students learn skills to develop projects.

DEPARTMENT OF MANAGEMENT STUDIES

The Department of Management Studies at NSUT was established in the year 2006. Theprimary objectives are to impart broad based knowledge in the field of managementpractices and their applications in addressing the challenges of the emerging globalbusiness environment and society. The department is committed to sharpen managerial,communication and leadership skills with emphasis on professional ethics amongstudents.

Currently the Department of Management Studies offers elective courses in diversedomains of management such as project management, financial management,entrepreneurship, human resource development, etc. to engineering students at the UGand PG levels at NSUT.

The department shall begin the following programmes from academic session

The objective of this program is to impart necessary knowledge and skills so that studentsunderstand and appreciate nuances of business and are able to convert their ideas into start-ups.

The program will facilitate learning innovation and its management, entrepreneurship andventure development from foundation to advance stages and side by side enable students toapply their entrepreneurial skills in real life situations, validate ideas, build innovations, testmarket and try to build a successful venture out of it.

This four-semester MBA program has, in addition to classroom learning, three ActionLearning Segments and three Capstone Projects to enable students to learn to recognize,create and shape a business opportunity, develop leadership and build a start-up team,construct business models and assess market feasibility for launching new start-ups.

NSUT has a promising innovation and start-up ecosystem in campus with existence of anestablished incubation Centre. The labs with workspaces for incubation, mentoring and otherexperiential elements will be offered under the direct supervision of incubation unit of theinstitute and will be under administrative control of University. The resource of incubationunit and department, both will be used to deliver the programme. The University incubationunit will draw the expertise within and outside such as incubates/ start-ups, successfulgraduate start-ups, mentor-experts, industry-investment practitioners, IP and regulatoryexpert, design experts to teach and deliver the programme.

Career and Employment Opportunities

The objective of this program is to prepare young minds towards self-employment and createemployment opportunities for others through enterprise development. It is expected thatmore job creators will come out and most of the graduates of this program will start andthrive with their own start-ups launched during the study period.Moreover, graduates from this program will find lots of opportunities to get placed in start-ups because of their close understanding and working experience in innovation andentrepreneurship throughout their study period. Furthermore, these graduates will get jobopportunities to coordinate and lead pre-incubation centers in academics, incubation units,acceleration units, angel and VC firms, etc. They will find preferential space to work withCSR arm, social enterprise arm and spin-off arm of corporate, NGOs, social enterprises.However, NSUT will not facilitate their placement with companies in this regard, and theywill be encouraged to become entrepreneurs, and enhance the job creation. If they wish towork in the incubator space, they will be given a lot of networking opportunity in this period,to create such opportunities for themselves in the spirit of the program.

Exit options

The course is designed to offer incumbent students an opportunity to exit after successfulcompletion of the first year. First year focuses on Entrepreneurial motivation, venturefoundation development and experiential learning. It has the provision for the candidate toexit with innovation and entrepreneurial abilities and management capabilities to manageincubation and start-up environments. After successful completion of first year, for studentswho wish to discontinue the program, NSUT may issue a certificate titled “Certificate inInnovation Entrepreneurship, and Venture Development”.The second year focuses on advancement of entrepreneurial skill and validates theenterprising skill by setting up real ventures with incubation support as part of the 2nd Action

Learning Segment. Upon successful completion of two years, a degree certificate of ‘MBA inInnovation, Entrepreneurship & Venture Development’ will be awarded.

ELIGIBILITY AND ADMISSION PROCEDURE

Eligibility Conditions

A candidate who has passed any graduate examination with minimum 50% marks in aggregate orequivalent CGPA from a recognized university/institution is eligible to apply. However, arelaxation of 10% marks shall be given to SC/ST/PD candidates in eligibility criteria. Those whoare appearing in the final semester examination may also apply, provided they submit the proofof eligibility and graduation marks at the time of Personal Interview and Evaluation. Nocandidate will be allowed for personal interview and evaluation without graduation marks.

The student should hold a degree from any of the universities incorporated by an act of central orstate legislature in India, or other educational institutions established by an act of Parliament, ordeclared to be deemed as a university under section 3 of UGC Act, 1956, or possess anequivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.

In case the conversion formula for CGPA is not provided by the concerned Institute/ University,then equivalent percentage will be computed as per the NSUT guidelines.

Note: At any stage of the programme, if it is found that the candidate does not fulfill theeligibility criteria, his/her admission shall be cancelled.

Selection of Candidates

The minimum academic eligibility for a candidate to apply for this program should be a graduatein at least three-year degree program recognized nationally, with at least 50% marks ingraduation. Reservation criteria at NSUT will be followed in accordance with the Universitynorms.The selection will be based on graduation marks, gender diversity, academic diversity, writtentest/Essay and Interview (based on business plan/idea and personal characteristics such asentrepreneurial motivation, passion, degree of engagement, creativity and quality ofunderstanding of innovation, entrepreneurship, etc.).

The reservation of the seats for SC/ST/OBC, EWS and sub categories Defence/PD are as per theGovernment norms.

Reservation Policy

a. Scheduled Caste (SC): 15% of the total seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste candidates.

b. Scheduled Tribe (ST): 7.5% of the total seats are reserved for Scheduled Tribe candidates.

c. Other Backward Class (OBC- NCL): 27% of the total seats are reserved for OtherBackward Class (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates.

Sub-categories namely ‘Defence’ and ‘Person with Disability’ are available under each category(General, SC, ST, OBC-NCL).

d. Defence Personnel: 5% of the total seats (Horizontal) in each category are reserved forcandidates belonging to Defence sub-category in the following priority

Priority I - Widows/Wards of Defence Personnel killed in action.

Priority II – Wards of disabled in action and boarded out from service.

Priority III - Widows/wards of Defence Personnel who died in peace time with deathattributable to military service.

Priority IV - Wards of disabled in service and boarded out from service with disabilityattributed to military service.

Priority V - Wards of ex-servicemen and serving defence personnel/para military/policepersonnel who are in receipt of the following Gallantry Awards: 1. Param Vir Chakra 2.Ashok Chakra 3. Mahavir Chakra 4. Kirti Chakra 5. Vir Chakra 6. Shaurya Chakra 7.Sena/ NauSena/ Vayu Sena Medal 8. Mention-in-Despatches 9. President’s PoliceMedal for Gallantry 10. Police Medal for Gallantry

e. Person with Disability: 5% of the total seats (Horizontally) in each category are reservedfor candidates belonging to ‘Person with Disability’ sub-category.

Note-I

i. In case of category (a) and (b), the vacant seats are interchangeable.ii. In case, sufficient numbers of eligible candidates from category (c) are not available, the

vacancies will be treated as unreserved.iii. Seats under sub-category (e) are interchangeable within the sub category if sufficient

number of candidates is not available in a particular group.iv. In case, sufficient number of eligible candidate from the sub categories mentioned at (d)

and (e) are not available, the vacancies will be treated as unreserved in the respectivecategory.

v. Under CW sub-category, the seats will be filled based on the priority i.e. all eligiblecandidates of priority-I will be allotted seats based on their ranks until the ranks exhaustor seats exhaust under CW sub category. Remaining vacant seats, if any, will be allottedto the priority-II in the similar way, and so on.

vi. The reservation under CW sub category is available only to such candidates who fallunder the listed priorities.

vii. It is the sole responsibility of the candidate to prove his/her eligibility for claimingreservation under any of the reserved categories / sub categories. The candidates claimingreservation under SC / ST / OBC categories, CW / PD sub-categories will be required toproduce the original certificate of the respective reserved category/ sub-category issuedby the competent authority (as mentioned in this information brochure) at the time ofdocument verification. If the reserved category / sub-category certificate is not found tobe in order, no benefit of the reserved category/ sub-category will be given andprovisionally allotted seat to that candidate will stand automatically cancelled. Suchcandidates may be considered under General category/ sub-category in respective statequota for subsequent rounds of counselling on submission of a request in this regard.

Note-II

1. In case of tie in the final merit list, the following criteria shall be use

a. The candidate with higher graduation score will be ranked higher

2. In case of tie in graduation score the candidate shall be ranked according to the PersonalInterview score shall be taken; if tie persists, age in days will be used for selection.

3. The University may invite fresh applications against vacant seats, if any, by following analternative admission criterion, to be announced with a fresh call for admission toremaining seats.

The selected candidates will be required to pay progamme fee online at the link to be activatedas “login id” of candidate as soon as the documents of the candidates are verified. Theprovisional admission letter shall be issued subsequently. It may be noted that the admission ofthe candidate is complete only after the payment of online admission fee within the prescribed

time limit. If a candidate fails to pay the fee within prescribed time, then his/ her provisionalallotment of seat shall be cancelled.

Withdrawal Policy

The university follows the following policy for the remittance and refund of the fee, if a studentchooses to withdraw from the programme of study in which he/she is enrolled

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED AT THE TIME OF ADMISSION

Following is the list of documents required for verification at the time of PI process andcounselling:

1. Print-out of the online application form duly signed by the candidate

2. Degree and Marks sheet of the qualifying examination

3. Date of Birth Certificate as indicated in High School or equivalent examination

i.e. Class X

4. Reserved category / sub-category Certificates, if applicable

CERTIFICATES REQUIRED FOR RESERVED SEATS AT THE TIME OF DOCUMENT VERIFICATION

Candidates applying for any reserved seat (i.e. SC, ST, OBC-NCL, CW, PD) must produce theoriginal certificates (as applicable) as mentioned below at the time of document verification.

(i) Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST) /Other Backward Class (OBCNCL): Foradmission to a seat reserved for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/Other Backward Class(NCL), candidate must produce a certificate, in original, issued from an approved districtauthority stating the Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe/ Other Backward Class (NCL), towhich the candidate belongs. A list of approved authorities is given below:

a. District Magistrate / Additional Magistrate / Deputy Commissioner / Collector / AdditionalDeputy Commissioner / Deputy Collector / 1st Class Stipendiary Magistrate / CityMagistrate (not below the rank of 1st Class Stipendiary Magistrate), Sub-DivisionalMagistrate / Taluka Magistrate / Executive Magistrate / Extra Assistant Commissioner.

b. Revenue Officer not below the rank of Tehsildar.

c. Sub-Divisional Officer of the area where the candidates and/or his/her family normallyresides

d. Administrator/Secretary to Administration/Development Officer (Laccadive & MinicoyIslands).

NOTE

1. The candidate seeking admission under reserved categories has to mandatorily produce thecaste/category certificate in his/her name at the time of counseling. The certificate in thename of either of the parents (mother/father) or any other family member is not acceptableand the candidate will not be entitled even for provisional admission.

2. OBC (NCL) candidates are required to produce a caste certificate issued after June 30,2018 from the authorities as mentioned above. However, if the certificate is issued prior toJune 30, 2018, it must be accompanied with an additional certificate regarding the presentnon-creamy layer status of the candidate, issued by the same competent authority. Thisadditional certificate must have reference of his / her already issued original caste certificate.

(ii) Person with Disability sub-category: For admission to seat reserved for DifferentlyAbled Person (PD) sub-category, the candidate must produce the following certificates inoriginal at the time of document verification for PD candidates:

a. A certificate of physical disability issued by a duly notified Medical Board of aDistrict/Government Hospital set up for examining the physically challenged candidatesunder the provision of the Person with Disability (equal opportunities, protection of rightsand full participation) Act 1995.The certificate should indicate the extent (i.e. percentage) ofthe physical handicap and should bear the Photograph of the candidate concerned. Thecertificate should be countersigned by one of the Doctors constituting the Board issuing thecertificates.

b. A certificate duly recommended by Vocational Rehabilitation Centre for the Handicapped,9-11 Vikas Marg, Karkardooma, Delhi 110092.
