together The goal needs to be specic enough to guide and drive the
project forward and allow for assessment of achievement. The
journal is the anchor for everything, If the journal is maintained
it contributes to both the project and the report while reecting on
the goal, tying everything together. Overall it will contain about
50% of the assessable material. The project report is the reection
and explanation of the goal, planning, learning and experiences
based on the journal entries and doing the project. The project is
the culmination of the goal, planning and learning based on the
journal entries.

26. Questions from parentsHow long should it all take to do the
Personal Project? It is recommended the actual project take about 50
hours to complete. The planning time is additional, we will be
working hard to make sure the students plan for something that is
challenging but still achievable. Some students will spend more time
than this on their project, but it needs to be balanced with
everything else they are doing.A guide would be that between 1-2
hours a week for the entire length of the project would help with
time management, project completion to asatisfactory level and
continuity of thoughts and plans.Confucius: Choose a job you love,
and you will never have to work a day in your life.It is not the
time it takes - it is the time you give. Will there be in school
time allocated for the Personal Project? The personal project is
essentially completed in the students own time - this includes
meetings with supervisors, planning, research, the project itself
and the reportWe will be providing Approaches to learning spotlight
skill sessions etc through the year which may include some of the
following : how to arrange an interview, creating questions,
referencing, sources of information, layout and style guides, using
a gantt graph for planning, writing email / letters of
introduction, thank you notesetc. Please remember that all staff
involved in the personal project as supervisors and co-ordinators
will be doing the personal project in their own time as well. How
are marks allocated? There are 7 criteria for the personal project,
each of these are assessed according to the specications included
in each criteria, the maximum level ofachievement for each criteria
is 4 points. The total points for the PP is 28, this total is then
standardised to the MYP points systems - with a 7 being thehighest
level of achievement in a subject. Please see the student guide for
further details on this. How will supervisors be allocated? The
students goals will be displayed without names and staff will be
able to select the goal according to their interests. Each staff
member will supervise 2 students, with PP Co-ordinator and MYP
Co-ordinator supervising a few more.Students will be responsible
for making and keeping appointments and following up with their
supervisors.
