Project:Environmental Portrait & Self Assigned LayoutDesigner, Megan CarleeOrangeburg, NY
Project Objective: To capture and photograph fashion designer Megan Carlee and create a layout that can be seen in a popular magazine.
Carlee doesCouture
Aspiring designer, Megan Carlee is no stranger to the cut throat industry of fashion design. Hailing from a New York City suburb, the 23 year old is making a name for herself for her custom designs. Megan studied fashion design at the prestigious Pratt Institute in Brooklyn New York. Pratt's 4,700 students come from all over the country and the world. With 3,000 undergraduates and 1,700 graduate students, Pratt is small enough to offer small classes and large enough to provide a wide selection of faculty and courses. The competitive field of fashion design usually is enough to make most student change their major, but Carlee sets herself apart from the pack as primarily a self taught designer.Fashion designers design clothing and accessories. Some high-fashion designers are self-employed and design for individual clients. Other high-fashion designers cater to specialty stores or high-fashion department stores. These designers create original garments, as well as those that follow established fashion trends. Most fashion designers, however, work for apparel manufacturers, creating designs of men’s, women’s, and children’s fashions for the mass market. Designer brands which have a 'name' as their brand such as Calvin Klein or Ralph Lauren are likely to be designed by a team of individual design-ers under the direction of a designer director. Haute couture is made to order for a specific customer, and it is usually made from high-quality, expensive fabric and sewn with extreme attention to detail and finish, often using time-consuming, hand-executed techniques. Fashion Week: is a fashion industry event, lasting approximately one week, that allows fashion designers or "houses" to display their latest collections. Lets Hope we will be seeing Megan there in the future.
23 year old Megan Carlee talks about her wearable collection that has all thelocal girls talking.
designer digest May 201234
“I like to make clothes that people can actually WEAR.”
Fashion design: is the applied art dedicated to the design of clothing and lifestyle accessories created within the cultural and social influences of a specific time.

Tara ConnollyA Different Kind of Student
“My name is Tara Connolly, and I am 21 years old. I decided to come down to the University
of South Carolina primarily for the nursing program. During my fi rst nursing class we had
a guest speaker come in and talk to us about what ROTC is, and as I learned more about
what the army was and what they do. I signed a contract after just 3 and a half months. I
was never able to go out on a Thursday night like a normal college student especially here
Project:Multimedia Photo& Video Final
Project Objective: To capture the unique life of USC ROTC Student Tara Connolly through photos and audio.Length of Video- 1:52
at USC, and that still is the case to this day. The training that I’ve done and the experiences
that I’ve had definitely outweigh any night that I could have had in Five Points. Its definitely
wore me down but I think that the benefit in the end has so far been worth it and I know
when I graduate that it’ll definitely be worth it.”

Adoption is the loving option: Before you buy a pet, consider adoption
By shedding a little bit of light on an issue many people are not aware of, hopefully PETS INC will continue to thrive and be able to take in the dogs and cats that are turned away by other organizations.
300 ORCHARD DRIVE | WEST COLUMBIA, SC 29171 || OFFICE (803) 739-9333 | FAX (803) 781-5681
More than 4 Million pets are euthanized each year
because there are simply not enough homes for them. PETS
INC is a non-profit animal
shelter in West Columbia
that has made it their goal
to rescue, rehabilitate, and
foster dogs and cats until
they can be adopted.
Unlike many other shelters,
PETS INC is a no kill
shelter that has rescued
and placed over 34,000
animals in loving homes.
With the help of donations,
private grants, and the
endless dedication of
volunteers (who are always
welcome), countless animal are given a second chance at life.
Despite their efforts, they have continuously come in
under budget for the past few years. Without programs
like PETS INC, needy pets with injuries, medical conditions,
or without a home will have no where to turn. A few simple
donations and even just shopping at the Pet Supply store inside of PETS INC could mean the lives
of hundreds of animals saved.
