The Price of Your HolidayFirst Option Egypt has introduced a ‘Base Rate’ pricing policyto make it easier for you to create your own twin or multi-centreholidays within Egypt without hindering your choice!

As an example, a popular combination is to spend 4 nights inLuxor and 3 nights in Cairo for which you simply need to add thetwo appropriate base rates together. Then, check the supplementboxes on the resort hotel description pages for any seasonalsupplements on your chosen date. All you need then is to allowus your Travel Agent to quote you the best applicable flight pricesfor your chosen itinerary.

If you simply require a single centre holiday, use the Base Rate, applicable supplements and then add the additional number ofnights required.

The Base Price is per person assuming twin share occupancy.Seasonal supplements apply to all hotels and cruises and can befound on resort description pages. Base Price always includes Meet& Greet at the appropriate airport plus return shuttle transfers toyour chosen accommodation in that resort. Where not indicated, prices for internal transportation will be provided at time of enquiry.Flights quoted by First Option Egypt will be subject to the terms andconditions of applicable airline and based on the services they offerincluding all appropriate taxes but not necessarily onboard catering.

Getting to EgyptThere is a comprehensive choice of flights to the major Egyptian gateways of Cairo, Luxor, Hurghadaand Sharm el Sheikh and, for this reason, First Option Egypt excludes the cost of air transportation fromour Base Price – allowing you or your travel agent the flexibility of booking the flight and airport mostsuited to your requirements – sometimes at reduced prices.

Scheduled flights operate daily from London Heathrow to Cairo and weekly to Luxor with flight timings 5-6hours. There are numerous charter flights from Gatwick, Manchester and other regional departure points toLuxor, Hurghada and Sharm el Shiekh all with a flight time of 5-6 hours, each offering various levels of service.

Travelling Around in EgyptFirst Option Egypt offers flexibility for your perfect holiday and details of our featured resorts can be foundon Page 15. Holidays to Luxor, including Nile Cruises, can be combined with a stay in Hurghada (coachtransfer 4 hours) or Cairo (air 1 hour or overnight train 8 hours). Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh can becombined (air 30 minutes or catamaran 90 minutes) and both resorts can be combined with Cairo (air 1 hour). Some charter airlines permit one-way reservations allowing flights in to one resort and out of another.

Because of the choice that should be available to you, First Option Egypt will always recommend the bestitinerary to suit your requirements.

Making the most of Egypt

15

City StaysCairo

Cairo is the largest and most cosmopolitan city in the Arab World and spans the majestic Nile. At Giza, the magnificent Pyramids and Sphinx are the most iconic site but the city itself is packed with antiquities, bazaars, atmosphere, laughter, noise and so much more making it a superb addition to any holiday. It canbe added as a long (and packed) day trip from each of our resorts or (recommended) as a three nightadd-on within and extended holiday.

Luxor

Luxor has attracted tourists since the nineteenth century when the first visitors arrived by steamer to visitthe ancient ruins of Thebes. Today, it caters for thousands of Europeans heading for a cruise up river toAswan. Although their itineraries will include visits to the West Bank and Luxor Temple, the city offersexcitement and intrigue most suited for a few extra nights stay.

Beach HolidaysHurghada

Hurghada was once a simple fishing village standing on the RedSea – and indeed some of the original homes still stand in the townsurrounded by boutiques and bars. The resort and surroundingarea now thrives on tourism with large international standard hotelsbordering the public beaches. This is a sun worshippers paradiseand is popular with those combining a discovery cruise with relaxation.

Sharm el Shiekh

Sharm el Shiekh is perhaps the best known area on the RedSea but actually comprises several resorts including Na’amaBay. Popular with families, couples and activity seekers suchas divers, the comfort offered and the international renownedhotels is as good as anywhere!

Other Resorts and Hotels

First Option Egypt can organise single and multi-centre holidaysthroughout the country and can reserve rooms at many otherhotels not mentioned within these pages. Whatever your tailor-made requirements, please contact us!

Travel between Resorts

Nile Cruises - Managing Expectations! At First Option Egypt, we want you to enjoy your holiday and havecarefully researched the cruises we offer in our portfolio.

Some of the ships on the Nile might have the appearance ofhaving been around since the time of the Pharaohs, others areobviously a lot more modern – but all are subject to the continualeffects of heat, blazing sunshine and the dust that can be expectedin such a climate.

General maintenance can be carried out by crew members, usually timed to occur while the majority of passengers are onexcursions to avoid disturbance, but some major work can onlybe done in Luxor – including the cleaning of the pool.

Should you encounter a general maintenance concern, pleasereport it to the Ship Manager who will ensure necessary actionis taken or an explanation provided. This allows all parties theopportunity to remedy any problems while you are on holiday!

With more then three hundred floating hotels plying the Nile, diesel fumes and engine noises will be apparent. It is usual forthe floating hotels to refuel in either Luxor or Esna which involvesa short sail to the fuel depot.

The panoramic nile view from your cabin will be ever changingon sailing days. In reality though, on mooring days, floating hotelsoften dock up to ten abreast meaning the view will be as excitingas the ship next door! It is for this reason, that caution should beexercised and comfortable flat shoes worn as boarding ofteninvolves passing through the other floating hotels.

General InformThe Arab Republic of Egypt offers a wealth of exciting opportunities – whetherit be visiting the ancient temples or relaxing on a world-class beach.

The predominantly Muslim country earns more from tourism than from anyother industry and now welcomes a greater number of visitors from Britainthan any other European country.

Star RatingsStar Ratings used for the hotels in this programme generallyreflect those of international standards.

On Floating Hotels, the local categorisation is awarded basedon the facilities onboard and not necessarily the standards. FirstOption Egypt advertises the local star rating and all of our featuredFloating Hotels are 5-Star or 5-Star Deluxe.

In the opinion of First Option Egypt, to advertise a Floating Hotelas simply 5-Star is misleading. We have, therefore, introduceda secondary grading; Intro-Range, Mid-Range and Top-Rangetranslating in to three, four and five star respectively and betterreflecting the expectations of the British visitor.

When to visit EgyptFor visitors heading to the Red Sea Resorts of Hurghada and Sharm el Sheikh, the temperature is going to appeal at any time of the year with the busiestperiods during the winter months. Cairo can actually be quite chilly and overcastduring the winter but is still a superb addition to a beach holiday – perhaps forthat reason!

Along the Nile, the weather can be ferociously hot and many excursions are timedto depart very early in the morning to avoid the midday sun. September to Januaryare the busiest months for cruises with the more manageable temperatures beingin March, April, October and November.

There are many festivals throughout Egypt but one to note is Ramadan, a monthlong period of fasting where some services can be affected. In 2007, Ramadanconcludes on 11 October and, in 2008, is celebrated between 1 and 29 September.

Suitability of holidaysA holiday in the Red Sea resorts of Hurghada and Sharmel Sheikh will appeal to everyone seeking sunshine, relaxation and sporting opportunities – including, of course, some of the best diving possibilities. Hotels are modern, efficient and cater equally as well for individuals, couplesand families.

By their very nature, Nile Cruises can have limitations asto suitability. Much of the focus is on early morning startsto visi t fascinating archaeological si tes. Onboardentertainment is very limited with little or no organisedactivities for children. In the evenings, although the FloatingHotels have a ‘disco’, music is usually from a CD with mostguests retiring early soon after dinner in readiness for thenext day. Great caution should be taken when travellingwith younger children, who must be supervised at all times.

Assistance is always available when boarding the FloatingHotels which often involves traversing between several -moored side-by-side with different deck levels! In Luxor,Edfu and Aswan in particular, a great number of steep stepshave to be taken to quayside.

When you arrive in EgyptWe have a Representative at the airport to meet you fromyour flight. British Passport Holders require a visa to enterEgypt and these are easily obtainable upon arrival beforeproceeding through Immigration. Our local Representativewill assist you with the simple procedure.

Eating & DrinkingA great variety of international cuisine is available in our resorthotels and the hotel bars serve a good variety of alcoholic drinks.

On the Floating Hotels, meals are usually at set times timed tocoincide with the departure and arrival of excursions. A goodvariety of international cuisine is available from the buffet withseating some times up to ten per table. Alcohol is readilyavailable but the selection of international brands is not whatwe are used to here.

Although there is considerable choice, please remember to adviseus of any specific dietary needs you may have. Please exercisesensible attention when purchasing food and drink ashore!

Out and about, there are some bars but, please remember, thelocal custom is to generally meet up in bars to chat and drink teas.It should also be noted that many Egyptians enjoy tobacco andthat smoking is permitted in public areas – except in sections ofmost restaurants.

liability on the customer in respect of costs. Full details will be provided on request or can be obtained from

the ABTA website (www.abta.com).

14. FLIGHTSIn accordance with EU Directive (EC) No 2111/2005 Article 9, we are required to bring to your

are required to advise you of the carrier(s) (or, if the carrier(s) is not known, the likely carrier(s)) that will operate

your flight(s) at the time of booking. Where we are only able to inform you of the likely carrier(s) at the time of

booking, we shall inform you of the identity of the actual carrier(s) as soon as we become aware of this. Any

change to the operating carrier(s) after your booking has been confirmed will be notified to you as soon as

possible. If the carrier with whom you have a confirmed reservation becomes subject to an operating ban as

above as a result of which we/ the carrier are unable to offer you a suitable alternative the provisions of clause

8 (Changes and cancellation by us) will apply.

We are not always in a position at the time of booking to confirm flight timings. The flight timings shown in this

brochure and detailed on your confirmation invoice are for guidance only and are subject to alteration and

confirmation. The latest timings will be shown on your tickets which will be despatched to you approximately

two weeks before departure. You must accordingly check your tickets very carefully immediately on receipt to

ensure you have the correct flight times. It is possible that flight times may be changed even after tickets have

been despatched - we will contact you as soon as possible if this occurs.

Any change in the identity of the carrier, flight timings, and/or aircraft type(if advised) will not entitle you to cancel

or change to other arrangements without paying our normal charges except where specified in these conditions.

time of booking. Although we will endeavour to pass any reasonable requests on to the relevant

supplier, we regret we cannot guarantee any request will be met unless we have specifically

confirmed this. If you or any member of your party has any medical problem or disability which may

affect your holiday, you must give us full details before you confirm your booking so that we can

advise as to the suitability of the chosen arrangements. Please note that under no circumstances

will any travel agent have the authority to expressly or impliedly alter the terms of the contract

unless that agent has been expressly advised by us in writing of any changes.
