Outside of school, I do all sorts of things. You can always find me outside either painting a picture or taking some photographs. In the winter, you’ll probably find me at the top of some crazy ski slope, freaking out before I actually work up the courage to ski down. In the spring, I’m managing my school’s baseball team, and if it’s the summer, you’ll find me down in Long Beach Island.

But most of all, I’ll have my

Key Club work by my side, because I dedicate myself 100% to all that I do. I am also extremely personable, so please come to me with any questions you have, whether they concern Key Club or not, and I will be here to help you. I look forward to an amazing service year with all of you!

Yours in Caring and Service,

Sami Fiorino

Welcome to the 2010-2011 Key Club service year! This is a new start for all of us, so let’s make the most of this service year. By working together and keeping in close contact, Division 9 will be the best it can be!

Now, about me… I am Sami Fiorino, a sophomore at Holmdel High School, and your new Division 9 LTG! I began my work with service in the 7th grade when I began raising money for the Brain Tumor Society, an organization dear to my heart. From there, I went to Costa Rica and built a school for an impoverished town, and every summer I intern at Girls Inc., a company that focuses on the well-being of young girls. So once I got to high school, I knew Key Club was the only club for me, since it was the only one that had the same passion for service that I have!

District Convention, or DCON, is a huge gathering of Key Clubbers and other K-Family members from all over New Jersey. For three days, April 16th-18th, at the Valley Forge Convention Center in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, Key Clubbers participated in tons of events, made new friends, and learned all about the Key Club Organization. Key Clubbers were able to see the outcome of all of their hard work during the service year and celebrate and commemorate what a great year it has been. Attendees of DCON were able to take part in riveting discussions, listen to keynote speakers, go to sessions and workshops, raise money for Children’s Specialized Hospital

during the walk-a-thon, enjoy themselves at the dances, and have tons of fun! Another important part of District Convention is the caucusing and elections that take place. A group of delegates, two from each club, listened to each candidate’s ideas and campaigns and elected the new board, who were then installed during the closing ceremonies. Congratulations to the new board: Rachel Orbach-District Governor, Kevin Sun-District Secretary, Devan Corona-District Treasurer, Nicole Darrah-District Editor, Alyssa Keenan-International Endorsement, and all 21 Lieutenant Governors. If you were unable to attend this year’s DCON, I recommend that you attend next year’s, because it is an experience that you will never forget!

PCMs and OTCs Officer Training Conferences (OTCs): These are very important for all officers to attend. I can teach every officer what their duties are and how to perform to their full extent. This will help all officers do their jobs correctly and effectively. The first OTC will be on June 6th. I have not decided on a time or place, but if you are unavailable on this day, please let me know ASAP! President Council Meetings (PCMs): These meetings are extremely important for the success of each and every club. I will talk to all of the presidents about the upcoming events, and we will discuss the progress of each individual club. They will be held right after the OTCs, so presidents, plan to stick around! (If you cannot attend, please send a representative from your club in your place!)
