Day 1 USA/Merida Upon arrival in Merida, you will be met by yourCentral Holidays tour guide outside the secure area of the airport andescorted to your hotel in Merida. Mexico is an amazing country filled withculture, history and fun. On your 7-night travel vacation with CentralHolidays we will begin in the Yucatan region by exploring the ancient cityof Merida with optional tours to Mayan ruins and cities from the past.Learn about the intricate carvings by Mayan builders as you see pyramids,temples and more. Enjoy dinner and a relaxing evening before youradventurous sightseeing begins tomorrow. (D)Day 2 Merida Breakfast is served in your hotel this morning before youdepart for a half day tour of the city. Often referred to as the oldestcontinually-occupied city in the Americas, Merida was built on the site ofan ancient Mayan city, T’ho, and is named after Merida, Spain. On yourtour you will explore the narrow streets that open to broad central plazasand see famous sights like the Cathedral de San Ildefonso, Gran Museodel Mundo Maya and numerous monuments, barrios and temples. Youwill have additional time at leisure to shop and explore the city – checkout the Plaza Grande also called “el Zocalo” or the beautiful tree-linedstreet of El Paseo Montejo to see mansions – all while you sample localdelicacies like ice cream and baked goods. (B)Day 3 Merida - Optional tour to Uxmal After breakfast at your hotelyou are invited to join us on an optional tour to the ancient Mayan city ofUxmal, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Maya chronicles saythat Uxmal was founded about 500 A.D. and its buildings are noted fortheir size and decoration. Ancient roads called sacbes connect thebuildings – you will see the Governor’s Palace, the adivino (a steppedpyramid) and the Nunnery Quadrangle (a long building with elaboratelycarved walls on both the inside and outside. (B)Day 4 Merida - Optional tour to Celestun After breakfast at your hotelyou are invited to join an optional tour to the fishing town of Celestun,especially popular as a source for octopus. Celestun has beautiful beachesand is surrounded by a wetland reserve that is winter home to large flocksof flamingos, herons and other birds. Your day will be filled with naturalwonders as you explore this seaside town from its setting on the Gulf ofMexico to magnificent wildlife conservations. Shop the town square andenjoy some local seafood on your adventure in Celestun! Lunch is includedon this tour. (B)Day 5 Merida/Dzibilchaltun/Merida Enjoy breakfast at your hotelbefore you depart for an adventure to Dzibilchaltun, a Maya archaeologicalsite that has been continuously occupied for thousands of years. The mostfamous structure is the Temple of the Seven Dolls named because ofseven small effigies found when the temple was discovered. Also take alook at the natural sinkhole, Cenote Xlakah, located around the center ofthe city’s ruins. Today it is used as a natural swimming hole by locals andvisitors. You will also have a chance to visit the local museum and do someshopping before returning to your hotel in Merida. (B)

Day 6 Merida/Chichen Itza/Cancun After breakfast this morning youwill depart and be escorted to Cancun, with a stop to explore the ruins ofChichen Itza on your way. Chichen Itza has various architectural styles,reminiscent of styles seen in central Mexico and of the Puuc and Chenesstyles of the Northern Maya lowlands. It was one of the largest Mayancities and it was likely to have been one of the mythical great cities – youwill have a chance to explore the ruins and take photos. Continue toCancun for some fun in the sun as you stroll beaches and shop marketsat your leisure. Mexico comes to life on this amazing escape! (B,D anddrinks in evening)Day 7 Cancun Breakfast is included at your hotel this morning and thenyou have the day to yourself to see and explore Cancun as you wish! Youcan lounge by the pool or on the beach all day long, soaking up that sun,or there are stunning museums, parks, markets and activities to explore.The beaches are not to be missed in this beautiful city renowned as atropical escape – where you can depart for scuba diving and snorkelingadventures or take a relaxing cruise over the water while sipping on acocktail. Be sure to get in your souvenir shopping at the local markets indowntown or the hotel zone. Your hotel is all-inclusive, so be sure to enjoy!(B,L,D and drinks)Day 8 Cancun to USA This morning we will say goodbye to Cancun andthe Mexican Riviera and drive to the airport for our flight back to the U.S(B)
