Along with our ongoing partners, the American Philatelic Society, the RPSL, the Museum of Philately and the ABPS, we are delighted that the F.I.A.P and Japan Philatelic Society have joined us at the show, taking booths and hosting talks. You can explore and shop safely in the Booth Halls knowing that all booths are PTS Verified Members and associates. There are lots of new names and familiar faces for you to meet.
Many of our PTS Members are running special show deals, discounts and giveaways during the live event so do check these out, but if you don’t get time to explore everything at every booth, or you miss a Stampex Talk or two, the show will still be available for you OnDemand until April 28th. Sign up to our Stampex Newsletter at stampexinternational.com and be following us across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn @ptsandstampex to stay up to date with post-show offers, competitions and news.
We hope you enjoy the show and as always, I welcome feedback and ideas as we look to further develop the Stampex International experience in 2021 and beyond.

C H A I R M A N S L E T T E R
Welcome once again to our Virtual Edition of Stampex International, sponsored by Spink. We were delighted with the response to
our first show in October last year and proud to have been able to share this experience with thousands of visitors from around the world.
Since our pilot event, we have listened to feedback and worked to make this show more user friendly, more engaging and even more philatelic! You can now search for booths using our Keyword Search tool, move quickly from a chatroom back to the booth (using the ‘Visit Booth’ link at the top of the chat) and we have enhanced our live chat feature so you can see files, reply to specific messages and even join a multi-way video chat!
We also have lots of new and exciting attractions including a Booth Hall dedicated to our Gold PTS Members and the new Collectors Lounge sponsored by Corinphila & Heinrich Koehler where you’ll find Meet the Team sessions and Collector Support Sessions facilitated by the Royal Philatelic Society London (RPSL). We’ve made the Exhibits easier to find and the ever-popular Stampex Talks in the Spink Auditorium are back, with an exciting range of topics scheduled around the clock for you to enjoy.

S P I N K A R E P R O U D S P O N S O R S O F v I R T U A L S TA M P E xcomments by Olivier D. Stocker - Chairman and CEO.Stampex.
We are excited to confi rm we will be the main sponsors of the Stampex brand. This is an exciting opportunity as we work together to drive the digital revolution taking our favourite hobby into the new digital age. We are working together to enhance the community participation and enjoyment within the philatelic community, creating experiences for people to enjoy. Last year, we were impressed by how fast the hobby moved online, as demonstrated by the resounding success of the video conferences of the Royal Philatelic Society of London (RPSL) and many other initiatives across collectables areas. Well done to all those who work hard to take our hobby into the next phase!
Technology is undoubtedly the way forward for our traditional hobby, not only to survive but to thrive. We continue to look at ways to connect globally with technology, last year we migrated our auctions to online only, like Christie’s and Sotheby’s, and saw an acquisition rate of new customers like never before. On some occasions we acquired well over 100 new bidders, something I had never expected for a long-established company like Spink. Top quality catalogues when warranted and internet auctions go hand in hand to promote the hobby to existing and new players.
We have recently relaunched out London Headquarters, where we have brought together two guiding principles; customer experience and technological. We are looking at way to enhance our psychical auctions making them more fun and turning them into real events to celebrate the strength of the hobby.
We look forward to welcoming you to Virtual Stampex and chatting to you at the show on our booth A0, launching three live auctions from the Spink Auditorium and connecting with you online, no matter where you are in the world.

WHAT’S HAPPENING IN THE ExHIBITS?
During the three day showcase the Museum will unveil a new collector exhibition from one of the greatest philatelists of the Twenty-first century, Anatoly Karpov. As well as being a collector, Karpov is a Chess Grandmaster and former World Chess Champion. Whilst his Belgium collection was sold in 2012 it has been captured and preserved within the Museum and available to view in detail at the show via a web browser or by downloading the App. Karpov still actively collects and is continuing to develop collections on Imperial Russia and the
Olympic Games from 1897.
The Museum will also host two Tours lead by the Museum’s curators Marcus Orsi and Devlan Kruck and will start at the Karpov collection and then highlight some of the other key rarities and collectors on the digital platform. There will
be two special Tours available at the show taking place:-
Thursday 25th March at 4pm (London)Friday 26th March at 6pm (London)
The Museum Talk will be hosted by John Davies, whose 1890 Great Britain Penny Postage Jubilee collection has won gold medals and contains many unique and
rare items. Head to the Spink Auditorium to hear more from John.
The ABPS hosted non competitive exhibition which will be hosted online through the live show. Full information on exhibiting can be found on their website www.abps.org.uk. If you want to try exhibiting there are several
sessions on exhibiting being held in the Collectors Lounge

HOW TO CHAT
47
You have spent years, and probably some of your hard-earned money, putting a collection together on a subject that interests you. Why not show it to others so that they too can enjoy the fruits of your labour and perhaps learn from it? Why not also get some recognition for the work you have done, and maybe ideas from friends on how you
could take it further?
There are many ways in which you can exhibit your collection, from giving a display to a local club to entering international exhibitions. If you prefer not to exhibit competitively you are free to organise your display in whatever way suits you best. But if you decide to enter competitions you will need to follow their rules on frame numbers and classes. You will also need to think carefully about what exactly you want to show and how you want to construct your exhibit to illustrate your theme to best advantage. There is extensive guidance available on putting competitive exhibits together and on what judges will be looking for. If you would like further information, a good
starting point is the ABPS website (www.abps.org.uk).
Exhibitions in the UK are organised by regional Federations and Associations and at national level (Stampex and Northern National). All exhibitors are welcome to enter a national exhibition either competitively or non-competitively. An advantage of entering competitively is that you will receive feedback from the judges on
how your exhibit could be developed further.
It is often said that exhibiting is the best way to learn about your own collection as it obliges you to study it in detail. This can be hard work but also very rewarding. Apart from the pleasure that creating your exhibit will give you today, it will stimulate the next generation of collectors. Eventually they may be the people who will want to buy
your collection.

TiPS ON HOW TO START A ONE-FRAME EXHiBiT
The main idea of exhibiting is to share your knowledge, enjoy the visual appeal of your
collection more and spend time with others discussing and browsing other collections.
At Stampex a One-Frame Exhibit is normally 16 pages. However, check the rules as the number of pages differs between clubs and societies.
Choose what to exhibit. Space is tight so you need to pick your best material, which tells a good story, and you need to have enough of it.
The First Page. The key to any exhibit is actually the opening
page. It needs to be really concise.
Judges will see this initial page prior to the exhibition. It is the opportunity to tell your story so that the judges
know what to look for. A synopsis of the overall exhibit should be included.
displaying your collection. It needs to look visually appealing. Pages should not be •
overcrowded nor should there be too much white (empty) space. You can handwrite your display or use a computer.• You can create a template on your computer to ensure that text and fonts are consistent • and use this for each page.Once you have decided the layout you can type everything up.• We recommend getting someone to proofread it.• Album pages must be pale coloured, ideally cream or white•
Judging is done to a schedule. You are marked out of 100. The allocation of marking varies but covers treatment, importance, knowledge, research, condition, rarity and presentation.
A breakdown of the judges scoring scheme can be found at www.abps.org.uk

The society was founded in 1929 by a group of established dealers who wished to found a society which would act for, and on behalf of, its members, for the
greater good of philately.
This society would not only protect its members but it would also protect the hobby as a whole, ensuring that customers could shop in confidence.
