Trasmissione e ricezione 5 -‐ Passing and receiving 5
Player A passes deep (1) to his running teammate in the space left free by player B who's running away from center cone; D receives the ball and dribbles till the vertex in front of him, in the picture (2). D passes to C (3) who will pass to the player E, after a wall pass play with B (4 and 5). Trasmissione e ricezione 6 -‐ Passing and receiving 6
In this variation of the previous article, A plays a wall pass with B while B is running to dismark himself (1-‐2) and then A passes deep to D (3) on the opposite side. D dribbles till the vertex cone (4) and then plays another wall pass with (5-‐6) and then he passes forward to C (7). C plays a wall pass with B too (8-‐9) and the pass to E who's waiting on the starting point to start a new sequence. The last pass is followed by theplayer, the starting center playe will run to the free outside cone and the last one on the vertex will become the center one.
Esercitazione tecnica ritmata in esagono 2 – Rhythmic technical drill in hexagon 2

1 contro 1, 3 contro 3 o partita 7 contro 6 – 1 vs 1, 3 vs 3 or ssg 7 vs 6

Doppio 1 contro 1 e 3 contro 3 – Double 1 vs 1 e 3 contro 3

1 contro 1 o 1 contro 2 -‐ 1 vs 1 or 1 vs 2
The player A dribbles among the cones and then he decides which teammate he will passes the ball to (1 -‐ B in the picture). The receiver dribbles (2) attacking the minigoal in front of him and playing 1 vs 1 with A. Meanwhile, the goalkeeper passes to C (3) who receives and dribbles among the cones (4), he the plays wall passes with D and shoot on goal in the minigoal. If he scores he can help the player A to win the ball back and finish in the big goal; if he misses the chance (8), A must play 1 vs 1 without any help.
1 contro 1 fra portieri e 1 contro 1 giocatore-‐ portiere Goalkeepers 1 vs 1 and 1 vs 1 player-‐goalkeeper
Player 1 kicks the ball in the space between the goals of various dimensions; two goalkeepers are playing 1 vs 1 to win it; the one who takes the ball must pass it to the player 2 who is running outiside the cone on the correspondent side where the goalkeeper won the ball; the player number 2 will play 1 vs 1 against the other goalkeeper to score in the little goal on his side.
In the triangle starting shape 1 pass to 2. In the solution on the left (A) 2 plays the ball to the running player 3 and 1 become a support for 3; 2 shall defend the 2 vs 1 (red arrow). In the solution on the right, 2 plays a wall pass with 1 (B); 1 can pass to the running player 3 (C) or can dribble to shoot on goal (D – blue arrow). B shall defend the 2 vs 1
1 contro 1 o 2 contro 1 a porte opposte – 1 vs 1 or 2 vs 1 in opposite goals
The player A dribbles among the cones (1) and overcome the air body (2); A must then play 1 vs 1 against the player on the cone at the opposite side from where he overcame the airbody (3), trying to score in the minigoal at the related vertex (4). If B wins the ball, he plays 2 vs 1 with C (5) against A to score in the minigoal at the opposite side of the first one (6).
Esercitazione tecnica e 1 vs 2 – Technical exercise and 1 vs 2
The player on red cone passes the ball to his coach and plays a volley pass on balance ball with right and left feet after skips (1). After return pass he dribbles with changes of directions between cones and pass the ball to second assistant (2). He then plays a header pass after skips (3). In the second part of the exercise, he receives a pass from a teammate and shoot on goal (4) and in the end he must defend 1 vs 2 the second goal after transition (5).
Tiro in porta, 1 contro 1 e ribattuta – Shoot on goal, 1 vs 1 and 2nd time attack

Da 1 contro 1 a 3 contro 2 – From 1 vs 1 to 3 vs 2

In the end there’s a free player who decides which of two team will be in possession to play 3 vs 2 (3). The possession team will decide where to try score between the two main goals
2 contro 1 a colori – Coloured 2 vs 1
Blue player starts with two changes of direction touching the poles of the same colour (yellow here). The he recives a pass from a teammate with the bibs coloured in the same way (or with a related previous reference) who can become a 2nd attacker after skip exercise (red arrow) if the reciver doesn’t play 1 vs 1 with the player without the ball (blue arrow). Variation: the colour can be called by the goalkeeper.
2 contro 1 o 1 contro 2 – 2 vs 1 or 1 vs 2
Player 1 dribbles among the cones and passes back; 2 and 3 work on changes of direction in possession. The coach must then indicate who must keep the possession between last two. In the first case (A with red arrows), 2 passes to 1 and 3, after passing back, play as support to player 1 for a 2 vs 1 to score in the main goal. In the second case (B with blue arrows), 3 keeps the possession and play against 1 to score in one of two mini goals; 2 will be a second defender after passing back too.
2 contro 1 a chiamata – called 2 vs 1
3 players are placed near cones of different colour. Goalkeeper pass the ball to center player (near red cone) and meanwhile he calls the cone’s colour where the defender must run from (blue one here). The receiver decides whether to play 1 vs 1 (blue arrow) or 2 vs 1 with third player on yellow cone as support.
Tiro in porta o 2 contro 2 – Shoot on goal or 2 vs 2
Players are placed on corners of the square. The exercise starts with two lowers players playing wall passes between them; after fifth pass anyone can decides to pass forward to the other two upper players for 1 vs 1. If the first receiver is able to keep the possession we can shoot on goal. If the defender wins the ball he must play with the player who made last pass (2-red arrows) to play 2 vs 2 with the fourth player (3-blue arrows).
3+1 contro 3: allenare coperture preventive e transizioni positive – 3+1 vs 3: space prior defence and attack transition
The coach, placed in the center, passes the ball alternatively to the players on the three queues. The receiver must dribble till the next in front cone; the others must run to cover and defend the free space left by the receiver outside and inside (1 – 2 – 3). All the player must run back to starting position every return pass to the coach. When all the player have played the ball or when an estabilished sign is given, the coach pass the ball for last time to play 3 vs 3 with goalkeeper (4) against the defenders which carried out the same exercise before.

1) Inserimento centrale dell'esterno e copertura/marcatura Inside run of outside player and space recover/marking
2) Inserimento esterno del centrale e copertura/marcatura Outside run of center player and space recover/marking
3) Doppio inserimento centrale e chiusura verso l'esterno
Double center run and marking outwards
Movimenti difensivi -‐ Defending runs
This exercise is usefull to train the defending runs against outiside move with "open play" analytically. The goalkeeper decided which the side where the exercise will start from and the defender must place themselves in the right direction (1). They must run back (2) and the right back must run closer (3) to the red players, following their wall pass sequence; all defenders must scale their positions. If one red player is able to swith play with a cross pass, the defenders will have to cover the opposite side and goalkeeper will help them coming out (4).
Esercitazione per gioco in ampiezza e 2 contro 2 in area – Width play and 2 vs 2 in the goal area
The goalkeeper pass the ball inside the square where a 4 vs 4 is played to keep possession. When all the players of one team have played the ball, or after an estabilished limit of time (1), the ball can be played out side for a cross pass in the goal area (3); the receiver will play a 1 vs 1 against an opponent who have to make a countermovement before chase the attacker (2). Two couples of player closer to the goal area will attack/defend inside it; a third couple must stay outside goal area to attack/defend the eventual 2nd time of the ball.
Esercitazione mista per tiro in porta e 1 contro 1 – Mix exercise for shoots on goal and 1 vs 1
The exercise starts with a pass to the players closer to the goals (1); they must pass to the opposite attackers (3) who are running forward (2). A double 1 vs 1 game is then played (4); if the attacker wins the duel can shoot on goal (5); if defender wins the ball we must score in the opposite goal to that he was defending.
Attacco alla 2a palla – Attack the 2nd time of the ball
Two teams are playing a 6 vs 6 + goalkeepers game in a marked place (black arrows). When the coach whistles, the goalkeeper of defending team pass a 2nd ball to the farthest mate on the pitch. The team in possession before shall attack this “2nd ball” and win the possession again, paying attention to cover the spaces (red arrows)
Allenare i tempi di inserimento – Exercise for vertical runs
The goalkeeper pass the ball to one of two defenders who must pass again inside the square next to them where a 3 vs 2 game is carried out. After an estabilished number of passes, the attacking team must pass the ball to the outside running player (left side with black arrows) to serve a cross pass in the goal area or the center running player (right side-red arrows). The defending outnumbered teams shall keep the possession if they win the ball.
The outside player pass the ball to center one who pass back to the 2nd overlapping teammate (1). He can decide to play 1 vs 1 in possession against defender inside the square (1) or to pass the teammate who is overlapping again (2) inside (3A) or outside (3B) for cross pass; here the first center player must run into goal area to create numerical equality inside of it. If defenders win the ball they must dribble it over the cone’s line.

Doppio 1 contro 1 e inserimento 3° uomo a chiamata del portiere Double 1 vs 1 and 3rd man run called by the goalkeeper
The goalkeeper decides where he throws the ball between two squares to begin the first 1 vs 1 duel (1); B vs D in the picture. B must keep the possession (2) and pass teh ball to his teammate with the same colour A in the other square (3). A receives and must keep the ball possession too (4) till the goalkeeper's calls the color of the 3rd attacking man between the players E and F, (red one in picture). A then pass forward to his new teammate (5) who must keep the possession (6) and finishing (7). F and the player in the second square can try to win the ball back and finish too. If one of the defending players D or C wins the ball, the goalkeeper immediately calls the color of the 3rd attacking man.
2 contro 2 +1 per costruzione dal basso e 3 contro 3 con inserimento dei centrali 2 vs 2 + 1 to build from the back and 3 vs 3 for center players inside runs
The goalkeeper decides the first receiver between G and H; the player without possession (H) become defender. G decides the team with possession (2) between the white one (C and D) and the blue one (F and E); a 2 vs 2 is now played with the yellow free player A as support to the possession team. When both the players in possession played the ball (2, 3) and A receives the ball again (4), he can pass forward to the other yellow free player B (5) who is the upper supporto for the inside runs of C and D (6, 7) with the red player H as defender. F and E can recover the space and try to win the ball playing 3 vs 3; if they win the ball they can score directly.
2 contro 2 + 2 con inserimenti dei laterali alti – 2 vs 2 + 2 with inside runs of outside players
The low vertex A starts to play passing the ball to one of the two team (white one or blue) o kicking it in the middle to carry out a 2 vs 2 duel (C and D vs E and F). When both the teammates have played the ball or after a fix number of passes, the possession team must pass the ball to the high vertex B over the line, meanwhile the two outside red players G and H run inside to receive and finish (direct finishing or through the opposite outside player). The prior defenders can try to put pressure to recover the ball; if they can, they can shoot on goal directly.
Doppio 3 contro 2 per costruzione dal basso e conclusione Double 3 vs 2 to build from the back and finishing
The goalkeeper passes the ball to the lower yellow free player A, who decides which is the team with possession between the whites (C e D) and the blues (E and F); one of the outside red players (G here) runs back to create a 3 vs 2 duel as he is a support for the possession team. When all the players have touched the ball (2-‐5), the upper yellow free player B can be served (6) and the second outside red player and one of the possession team (D here) run toward him to shoot on goal (7-‐8). The defending team can try to win the ball back playing again 3 vs 2; if those players win the ball, they can try to score directly.
3 contro 3 + 2 in regime psicocinetico -‐ 3 vs 3 + 2 ssg with psychokinetic theme
Small sided game 3 vs 3 with 2 free outside players which are holding in their hands two bibs or two cones of the same colours of the teams. Scores are valid after at least one wall pass with an outside player who can decide to be a teammate of possession team raising the bib or the cone of the same colour when he turn the eyes of the player with ball (black arrows). If the outside free player raises the bib or cone with the opposite colour, the possession team must switch play on the other side (red arrows). If different matched colours are used, then the exercise will be more difficult.
3 contro 3 + sponde e tranzioni -‐ 3 vs 3 + free players and transitions
3 vs 3 small sided game with 2 free players in depth end zones; each team can score in two little goals and must defend two little goals. Scores are valid after a wall pass with a free player who can decide if we want to be e teammate of the possession team (black arrows) or to pass to a player of the defending team (red arrows). Only the receiver can try to score after a wall pass with the free player on the other side. All the players of the team which lost the ball can try recover it playing in defensive transition.
3 contro 3 e contrattacchi -‐ 3 vs 3 and counterattacks
Match 3 vs 3 with 4 outside free players; the pitch is divided in two center parts and two outside zones where two free player are placed in each side. The game is always played in one of the two center part of the pitch, defending and attacking two small goals. The team which lost the ball (the yellow one) can't defend the counterattack; only the free players on the other side, which haven't received the ball, become defenders; a counterattack 5 vs 2 has bee created. The scores counts double if they are marked in the opposite little goals from where the outside free player were in possession. The game continues in the helf pitch where the counterattack took place with the team which lost ball as defender team.
3 contro 3 multidirezionale con jolly e portieri Multidirectional 3 vs 3 with free players and goalkeepers
3 zones small sided game; in the end zones two goalkeepers must defend two different little goals and in the center a 3 vs 3 (whites vs reds) with two free players of different colours (yellow and blue) is carried out. The defending team can try to win the ball back only inside the center space.
4 contro 4 + 3 dal portiere – 4 vs 4 + 3 from goalkeeper

Goalkeeper decides the first possession team passing the ball (white team here); they must be able to pass the ball to the center free player after at least one pass among them. If defending team wins the ball, goal can be score even only after a wall pass and an outside free player. Goalkeeper always starts new moves.

Small sided game 4 vs 3 + goalkeeper as starting point of every move.
This exercise can be useful to train the possession in 1-4-3-2-1, however the idea of the exercises this blog are not connected to a unique system of play. The goalkeeper passes the ball to the center forwarde who must send it to one of the two midfielders to start the game (1) . When two of three advanced midfielders have played the ball, the third one decides for a width run (3) or a depth run (4); then the midfielder who played ball first must cover the space in depth (3) or width (4) . If the defenders win ball they must dribble it over the goal line (5) . Exercise always restarts from the goalkeeper.
Small sided game 6 vs 6 + goalkeepers (they start every new move). The blues’ goalkeeper pass the ball to one of outside players to start a passing sequence to switch play (black arrows). Red players can win the ball till the first pass out of the defenders’ line; if they can’t, blue team can shoot on goal and a new game situation will start from red goalkeepers. If reds win the ball they can score only after passing combination forward-back-forward for 3rd man running (red arrows).
