As the community’s economic picture brightens, businesses of all sizes will begin to rehire and fill positions impacted by Osceola’s great recession. Please consider earmarking one or more positions for Work Ready participants who need a second chance. Osceola has a population of 3,800 children considered homeless. We expect there are many more. Many of these families are among the working poor. Others have had jobs eliminated and remain unemployed or under employed. Work Ready participants are motivated, trained, and enjoy ongoing support and encouragement even after employment. They desperately want an opportunity to achieve the American dream. Take a chance and change a life. Technical Training Programs Community Vision’s Osceola Poverty Elimination Network (Project OPEN) seeks to connect parents of young children with technical training. One example is a customized Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program. It costs approximately $1,200 to equip a student for a preferred future. The first CNA class was underwritten by grants from Wells Fargo and the City of Kissimmee. Students who graduate and complete all requirements will receive guaranteed employment and a career path. Ongoing SupportOngoing support will be available to employed participants. Our goal is to enable those who attained initial employment through our program continue to improve wage and career progression to achieve a higher quality of life.

Members have responsibilities associated with ongoing support and are expected to attend monthly meetings. They will provide support to one another and eventually become inspirational leaders for fellow participants.

Inaugural Work Ready Boot Camp Class

What does it mean to be Work Ready?

He or she has addressed any personal barriers to employment, graduated from our employment prep Boot Camp and wants to work!

Additional requirements include:

3 Proof of I.D. (valid driver’s license or Florida ID and social security card)3 Good physical condition 3 Access to reliable transportation; public or private 3 Established child care arrangements3 Willingness to submit to a background check and/or drug testing at employer’s request

What is the Job Seekers Club?Job Seekers Club is a supportive service designed to guide participants throughout their employment search. In addition, participants may meet one-on-one with our employment coach and/or in a workshop group setting to address employment-related challenges.

How Long Can Job Seekers Participate? Members actively seeking employment attend meetings, workshops, and trainings until successful employment has been attained.
