Here’s how you can help 3 Become a speaker or food sponsor at a monthly meeting 3 Become a Business mentor to someone getting back on their feet 3 Donate professional and business casual clothing for job hunters Most of all we need employment opportunities for Work Ready program participants. As the community’s economic picture brightens, businesses of all sizes will begin to rehire and fill positions impacted by Osceola’s great recession. Please consider earmarking one or more positions for Work Ready participants who need a second chance. Osceola has a population of 3,800 children considered homeless. We expect there are many more. Many of these families are among the working poor. Others have had jobs eliminated and remain unemployed or under employed. Work Ready participants are motivated, trained, and enjoy ongoing support and encouragement even after employment. They desperately want an opportunity to achieve the American dream. Take a chance and change a life. Technical Training Programs Community Vision’s Osceola Poverty Elimination Network (Project OPEN) seeks to connect parents of young children with technical training. One example is a customized Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program. It costs approximately $1,200 to equip a student for a preferred future. The first CNA class was underwritten by grants from Wells Fargo and the City of Kissimmee. Students who graduate and complete all requirements will receive guaranteed employment and a career path.
