The first Music Video’s

• The beetles were one of the first to use images to accompany their music releases so they wouldn’t have to make a personal appearance.

• Other bands then started do promote their records this way e.g. The Bryds, Bob Dylan and The Who.

• The first music video aired on MTV was The Buggles “Who killed the Radio Star” on MTV’s first day, August 1, 1981. Many other music channels are now around.

• Top Of The Pops began playing music videos in the late 1970s to substitute when the artist or band were unavailable to perform.
