• Josep called Pepet for his friends was born in 1930 in Santa Pau (Olot) but when he was 5 months his family moved here.

• When he has just moved here they had not anywhere to live and they had to live in Fages de Climent’s house. He gave house to them because Josep’s mother worked like servant in his house and his father worked like farmer.

Things he like

• For this reason he says that he had not any favorite food when he was young, because they had not money and with the war all worsened. He also says that when he was a kid he lived the civil war and they couldn’t play because, then when he was 12 years old he started to work. About the music the musicians that he liked were Louis Amstrong and Frank Sinatra and their favorites songs were “what a wonderful world” and “Copacabana”. About the fashion he says that he has never worried for it.

The war

• When civil war began he was only 6 years but they lived very hard times, they had not enough money to buy food and they had to eat only bread.

Studies and jobs

• He didn’t like school and says that in those days he only do the essential things at school. How we have said before he started to work at the age of 12 helping his father on the fields but his true first job was like baker and then he worked killing pigs at slaughter and finally he founded a shop with his brother. He say that he has fulfilled his dream, because he says that when he was young and poor his dream was to have proprieties and an own business.

Military service

• When he was 21 years old he began his obligatory military service for 18 months in Lleida but he says that wasn’t difficult times because there, they gave food to him and he wasn’t just a simply military, on the contrary he was the general’s assistant and the most of time he only helps the general’s wife to go to the city.

Experiences

• He explains that when he was young and lived in Fages de Climent’s house and he couldn’t disturb him and one day, when Fages de Climent was met, he disturbed him and Fages de Climent kicked him down the stairs.

• Another happy experience that he explains was when he had his first motorbike and he says that he was all day carrying his girlfriend.

• He hasn’t traveled a lot but when he was young he was been in France once.

• The invention that have impressed most him is the computer because he says that he has never thought in an invention that could do so much things.

Personal life

• He had three or four girlfriends before met his actual wife, Adelina, that met in the dancing festivals of the village and then they married with 30 years in 1960. Whit her, he had two sons, Daniel and Pilar. About the religion he was very religious before for the family and the war but he says that now he doesn’t believe in God.
