Ever Wonder What Would Happen?

Delete the first few years of data in an application? Make a base entity into a parent? A metadata load / deploy while someone else is

consolidating? Add a new custom dimension in 11.1.2.2?

No built-in functionality to archive Can not remove years

● …Can add later years

 Considerations● Roll-forwards

● Retained earnings● Cash flow

● Ratios that span years● Reports

 Yes you can!

Clear Parent Entities?

Add a year condition to the rules

Now consolidate again● Retained Earnings is gone● Cell IsCalculated

Account is calculated Remove the flag before reconsolidating?

● On the Account● … and the Custom4 member● Re-load 2005 and reconsolidate 2005 and 2006 again

● Possibly load Opening Balance in 2006, now that it’s not IsCalculated● Still have to manage when to clear and when NoInput

Re-load January 2006 base data with Replace mode?● Forces HFM to “see” it as Input rather than Calculated

This gets more complicated the more you think it through

Avoid Lost Data

Data can only be entered into base entities <Entity Currency> in a parent is the sum of

[Contribution Total] of it’s children Add children to EastSales

Make a base entity into a parent?

 Load new metadata

Make EastSales a Parent

Data in parent entity is not from its children

Data in <Parent Currency> and above are cleared during consolidation process● … and re-populated from base

Consolidate All With Data

● -1,300 is from rules, not data

Can we see this?● Task Audit…● Running Tasks

A metadata load / deploy while someone else is consolidating?

When you load metadata files, the system waits

for other tasks such as consolidation, data entry

or other load processes to finish before proceeding

to load the files.

 Application profile determines dimensions

Add a new custom dimension in 11.1.2.2?

Metadata file allows you to edit them
