College and Career ReadinessCareer Expo• Annual event sponsored by the Middlesex Consortium held at

Wesleyan University• April 23, 2015, 8:30-11:00 A.M.• Presenters represent nearly 100 careers• Education, finance, law enforcement, politics, law, engineering,

architecture, welding, pipe-fitting• All Sophomores are expected to attend • Students will select at least three presenters to meet with

based on their results from “Do What You Are”• Counselors meet with students prior to attending to prepare

them for the event• Field trip permission slip

College and Career ReadinessWorking Papers• Students can obtain Working Papers from the Counseling

Office – please see Mrs. Smith or Mrs. Scoppa• Students must have a “Promise to Employ” note from

employer first• Student must appear in person to obtain Working Papers

Personal/Social DevelopmentCo-Curricular Fair• November 5, 2014 during Advisory• All HKHS Sports and Clubs represented• Students met with representatives to learn more about co-

curricular activities• Ninth and tenth-graders attended co-curricular mini-meetings

November 12, 2014 to try out various clubs• Opportunity for leadership

Personal/Social DevelopmentCommunity Service• Graduation requirement: 30 hours of community service• School Counseling Office receives information about various

opportunities throughout the year• If available, Junior parking spaces are selected by lottery. In

order to enter lottery, all students must complete and turn in documentation for at least 30 hours of Community Service

• Counselors encourage all students to go above and beyond 30 hours
