Waste Management Indore- Kite Festival

“Makar Sankranti” is one of the most auspicious day for the Hindus, and is celebrated in

almost all parts of the country in myriad cultural forms, with great devotion, fervor & gaiety. Lakhs of people take a dip in places like Ganga Sagar & Prayag and pray to Lord

Sun. It is celebrated with pomp in southern parts of the country as Pongal, and in Punjab is celebrated as Lohri & Maghi. Gujarati's not only look reverentially up to the sun, but also offer thousands of their colorful oblations in the form of beautiful kites all

over the skyline. They may be trying to reach up to their glorious God or bring about greater proximity with the one who represents the best. It is a day for which Bhishma Pitamah kept waiting to leave his mortal coil. It is a Harvest Festival . The day is also

believed to mark the arrival of spring in India.“Makara Sankranti” is from one of the few Indian festivals which fall on the same date in

the Gregorian calendar every year: {14 January}

In rural and coastal areas, cock fights are held as an important event of the festival. As the festival is celebrated in winters, food prepared in this festival is made to keep the body warm and give energy. Laddu of Til (Sesame) made with Jaggery is the festivals

specialty. The festival of Makara Sankranti also honours and pays respect to Saraswati - Goddess of Knowledge. Makara Sankranti represents a period of illumination, peace,

affluence and happiness. Kite flying is an inevitable part of the festival in Madhya Pradesh & Uttar Pradesh.


On the occasion of “MAKAR SANKRANTI” (14 Jan 2014) WM Logistics India have organized “Kite Flying Festival” & ”Sweets

Distribution”.All the Employees Participated in Kite Flying and relished Kite Flying.

Makar Sankranti is one of the Joyful festival of India and normally Indian Boys are very fond of this festival. But now because of our busy schedules we don’t get a

chance to fly kites.The Initiative of Celebrating Kite Flying Festival by the Management of Waste

Management Indore was a good surprise for all the employees.This activity filled the Heart of all the Employees with pleasure.

All the Employees were grateful to Management of Waste Management Indore because with the small effort of the Management they could celebrate this festival

in the Corporate Environment.
