Prairie Links is a challenging championship course with a beautiful, rolling layout—large and true greens and tall, “no-mow” grass bordering the rough. The practice facilities include a driving range, bunker, practice green, and pitching area the team uses daily during its fall and spring seasons. In May 2008, Prairie Links and Wartburg hosted the NCAA Division III Women’s Golf Championship—the first time a national championship tournament had been played in Iowa. During the off-season, the Knights can practice in their indoor hitting area that includes a full-swing hitting bay and putting area with three holes. COACH GREG BODENSTEINER Greg Bodensteiner comes to the head women’s golf coaching position with the experience and passion of playing college golf himself and being a top-level high school athletics coach. “At the college level, I believe it is about leading, helping, and guiding the players to achieve their goals,” he says. He was a four-year member of the Loras College men’s golf team and graduated in 2001 with a bachelor’s degree in physical education. Bodensteiner was the top team finisher at the Iowa Conference Championships his junior year; his senior year, he won the Clarke Oktoberfest and Loras Spring Invitational. Bodensteiner earned his master’s degree in physical education and coaching from Ball State University in 2011. The Fredericksburg, Iowa, native teaches at the Greenview Alternative School in Waverly and is the head coach of the girls’ basketball team at Waverly-Shell Rock High School. He lives in Waverly with his wife, Amy, and their four children. Wartburg o� ers more than 50 academic majors in the liberal arts and preprofessional areas such as business administration, education, music, biology and biochemistry, and journalism and communication.
