Remove all packaging materials, labels and/or stickers from your appliance. •Check package contents for completeness and damage. Do not operate the •appliance if package content is incomplete or appear damaged. Return it immediately to the dealer.Clean your appliance thoroughly before using it for the first time (•  Cleaning).

CAution: Danger of suffocation! Packaging materials are not toys. Always keep plastic bags, foils and Styrofoam parts away from babies and children. Packaging material could block nose and mouth and prevent breathing.

CAution: Never let the power cord (8) come in contact with the waffle plates (3, 5) (ill. e ).CAution: Never touch the waffle plates (3, 5) when the appliance is plugged in and switched on (ill. d ).

Let the appliance cool completely.•Clean the appliance (•  Cleaning).

oPERAtionnotE: Make sure the appliance is switched off (set the temperature control knob to 0 ) and the waffle plate is closed before connecting it to a wall outlet.

Place the appliance on a clean, flat and heat resistant surface.•Insert the plug • (8) into a wall outlet (ill. b ). The PoWER indicator (12) and REAdY indicator (11) turn on. Set the required browning level with the temperature control knob • (10). The REAdY indicator (11) turns off. The appliance will now preheat to the preset temperature. Once the set •temperature has been reached, the REAdY indicator (11) will turn on. The time is about 3 to 5 minutes, which is subject to the temperature control knob setting.Unlock the latch • (2) by pressing on its upper part. Lift the upper waffle plate (3) it into a vertical position using the handle (1) (ill. c ). Apply cooking spray or spray butter on the waffle plates • (3, 5). Now the appliance is ready for baking waffles.

Baking wafflesUsing the measuring cup • (6), pour half a cup of batter onto each waffle square (ill. f ).

notE: Do not overfill the waffle forms, as any access batter may leak out of the appliance. During the cooking process, the REAdY indicator (11) will turn on and off several times to ensure a constant temperature.

Lower the upper waffle plate • (3) and lock it in place (ill. g ). Make sure the appliance is fully closed and the latch (2) has locked in place. Waffles are done in about 3 to 6 minutes, depending on recipe, or when •steaming begins to stop. Open the appliance (ill. • h ), as previously described, and remove the waffles using a plastic or wooden utensil (ill. i ).

notE: Never use any metal utensils, as these will damage the nonstick coating.

After removing the waffles, keep the waffle plate closed, so that the heat •remains inside the appliance for the next set of waffles. Wait until the REAdY indicator (11) lights up again. Repeat previous steps. Unplug the appliance when you are done with preparing waffles (ill. • j ). Both indicator lights switch off. Allow appliance to cool down completely before handling again. •

hintS And tiPS Most waffle batter can be poured directly onto the nonstick waffle plate • (5). Use a cooking spray for dessert waffles or any recipe with a lot of sugar. Most waffles can be made ahead of time and kept warm in a 200°F (90°C) oven. •To store waffles, let them cool and then pack into an airtight container. Store in •a refrigerator or freezer. Waffles can be reheated in a microwave oven or regular oven. Most waffles are done in about• 3 to 6 minutes. Recipes made from scratch may take longer. Check for doneness after approximately 5 minutes or when the steaming stops. If the appliance does not open easily, allow waffles to cook for another minute before checking again.
