We’re not Kiona Winery. We are Kiona Vineyards. That’s an important distinction for us to make, because we grow grapes. For our own winery and for more than 60 others. Kiona Vineyards comprises several estate sites, all with their own distinct traits and tendencies. They are the essence of our family’s forty-year tradition. Estates Cuvée is a blend from all of our estate vineyards. Each site contributes to the wine in a special way, resulting in an estate-grown wine that is uniquely representative of Washington state. The Columbia Valley components bring acid, fruit, and drinkability, while the Red Mountain additions contribute depth, structure, and color. Cabernet Sauvignon takes the driver’s seat in the 2017 version of Estates Cuvée, and for good reason; it’s delicious, we have it planted everywhere, and Red Mountain is famous for it. This wine provides a bird’s-eye perspective of our vineyard operation; we think you’ll enjoy the view. VINTAGE NOTES STATISTICS Heat accumulation in 2017 tracked slightly lower than the extreme highs during 2016 and 2015, and a wet spring resulted in higher overall precipitation when viewed from an annual perspective. The long, warm summer was prototypical for the area, resulting in delightful wines with strong varietal typicity. GEOGRAPHICAL COMPOSITION // 54% Columbia Valley, 46% Red Mountain ESTATE VINEAYRD SOURCES // Kiona Estate (RM), Heart of the Hill (RM), Vista (CV), Nine Canyon (CV), Sunset Bench (RM), Ranch at the End of the Road (RM) VARIETAL COMPOSITION // 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petit Verdot, 2% Sangiovese, 2% Lemberger CASE PRODUCTION // 6,356 12 x 750 mL cases pH // 3.8 TA // 5.02 g/L ALCOHOL // 14.2%
