Sorors, Philos, Rhoers and Invited Guests:

The Sophisticated Southeastern Region is positioned and ready to embark on yet another great and exciting journey as we host our Diamond Conference. As your pilot, I am making the official call to the 75th Southeastern Region Conference of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., March 12-15, 2015 in Atlanta, Georgia. The Alpha Iota Sigma Chapter, along with its affiliates and un-dergraduates, are working very diligently to make sure your visit and conference experience is one to remember.

On this journey, you will engage in an experience that is sure to please with a host of activities that seek to balance the whole person – business, sisterhood and service. We will kick the conference

off on Thursday evening with our Community Reception, welcoming noted dignitaries, public figures, community partners, media supporters and our fellow brothers and sisters of the metro Atlanta NPHC.

We want to welcome aboard our newest members of the flight crew to the region in a special and meaningful way with our New Member Reception on Thursday evening of the conference. We will onboard our new members and our chapters by offering conference workshops on Thursday, including TORCH training.

We are most proud of our affiliate relationships and are asking them to co-pilot on this journey. Philos will experience training opportunities that will enrich them as affiliates and personally. We will celebrate with our Philos at the Philo President’s Gala. Rhoers will have the opportunity to see Atlanta up close with historic tours workshops and activities.

Be prepared for fun at our Step Show and Party featuring a special guest host and the Old Skool Stroll Competition. This year, we have added a new component to our conference, Play Date. Stay tuned for more information.

To commemorate our Diamond Conference, all are asked to wear “Black and Bling” on Saturday evening for our ban-quet and special entertainment. We will close our wonderful event with our Sisterhood Breakfast, featuring our Region Choir and special guest(s).

As you can see, our conference will not disappoint this year. We have a full schedule of events starting on Thursday afternoon at 2pm and concluding on Sunday afternoon so plan accordingly with your travel arrangements so you do not miss out.

On behalf of the Southeastern Region Board of Directors and the Alpha Iota Sigma Chapter, we invite you to enjoy Atlanta at our 75th Southeastern Region Conference. Let’s Fly!

See you there!

Greetings Philo Sisters,

I welcome you to our 75th Southeastern Regional Conference in the city of Atlanta. Once again we come together as women of purpose, servants for good, and Philos, I am confident that the work we perform at this conference will resonate for years to come.

I have had the opportunity to meet some of you personally at our area meetings and have been given great suggestions, and have listened to your concerns and received your sup-port. For that I thank each of you.

Let us re-commit ourselves to the enhancement of our respective communities, and assist in the service of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., as they relentlessly seek to inform and empower the world. During this conference, we will renew old connections, forge new ones and stand united in service.

Take the opportunity to experience the great city of Atlanta’s many tourist attractions and all that it has to of-fer as you attend our 75th Regional Conference.

With a Mind to Work and a Heart to Serve,

Deborah ToombsSoutheastern Region Philo President

Conference HighlightsCONFERENCE WORKSHOPS Workshops will be held primarily on Thursday afternoon and each morning of the regional conference. TORCH training will be offered Thursday afternoon, Saturday afternoon, and each morning for new members or those needing to be recertified. A full conference workshop schedule will be released at a later date.

COMMUNITY SHOWCASEWe will host our community showcase,

inviting our community partners, as well as our NPHC family throughout the Southeastern Region to celebrate the great work that we do to deliver “Greater Service, Greater Progress”. This year, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, March of Dimes, Girl Scouts of America and USA Swimming will be our highlighted partners. Because we are in the metro Atlanta area, our invite list is quite extensive and there will be some special surprises.

NEW MEMBER RECEPTION & UNDERGRADUATE HOSPITALITYWe will celebrate our new members with a reception activity on Thursday evening with the Region Membership Committee and officers, as well as host a special bonding experience led by UCC Jakimva Martin and YSC Jessica Totten immediately following.

LEADERSHIP CHAT & CHEW All chapter Basilei are invited to a special briefing and discussion session with light refreshments during the conference with the Region Board of Directors, Area Coordinators and International Board of Director Members. This is a great time to connect with the leadership within the region, as well as get great information that you as a leader should share with your chapter.

STROLL & STEP SHOW COMPETITION

The Southeastern Region is looking to crown our region step team. Undergraduate Sorors are being asked to “bring it”, because the competition will be steep. Registration forms and information can be obtained from UCC Jakimva Martin. Alumnae members are being asked to dust off those shoes, drop those canes, take an aspirin and get involved in the State Stroll Competition coordinated by our Area Coordinators.

FRATERNITY STEP SHOW COMPETITIONWe are actively soliciting the NPHC fraternities to represent during our step show competition. A cash prize will be awarded to the winning team. Potential participants should contact UCC Jakimva Martin. Market this opportunity on your campuses to the frats.

DEDICATION LUNCHEONWe want to celebrate the dedication of our Sorors at a commemorative luncheon for our Rubies, Cultured Pearls and Life Members. All Sorors are invited to attend this special event which will include some special surprises.
