Mission Statement
Our intention is to create a platform to open dialogue between parents and teachers in a way that was not possible before due to language barriers
What is the Challenge?
Parental involvement is defined as the participation of parents in regular, two-way, and meaningful communication involving student academic learning and other school activities, ensuring:- that parents play an integral role in assisting their child’s learning
- that parents are encouraged to be actively involved in their child’s education at school
- that parents are full partners in their child’s education and are included, as appropriate, in decision-making and on advisory committees to assist in the education of their child
The best way to elicit the support of parents is by improving communication
Parental Involvement
Based on a study conducted by NYU in 2003 Almost 44% of all elementary and middle school students are exposed to languages other than English in the home
Strategy
- We assist teachers with the distribution of content otherwise unavailable to parents with Limited English Proficiency (LEP) such as:
- summaries of the week’s classroom material
- student performance updates
- notification of important upcoming events and dates
- how to work with the student to best prepare them for exams and standardized tests
Solution
- Creating knowledgeable insights from external data sources
