LA FIESTA! BY MATTHEW COOKE I went on holiday to Spain at New Year. On the 6th January, which is known as the Epiph-any in Britain and other parts of the world, it is the Spanish Christmas Day. On the night of the 5th January, it is like our Christmas Eve to the Spaniards. They celebrate this night in style for the chil-dren of the country, by send-ing through the streets large floats, each carrying one wise man, back from the story of Jesus’ birth. Crowds of thou-sands in some of the major cities gather around to catch some of the hundreds of sweets that are thrown to them by the wise men. There

are also many other floats car-rying Disney characters, and the favourite cartoon charac-ters in Spain. After the sweet-grabbing fi-esta, the crowds go for their evening meal, which is at around 10 o’clock! They then go home in the early hours of the morning and the children lay out their shoes, unlike the stockings of England! Instead of Santa visiting the houses, the children believe in the myth of the 3 Kings visiting and bringing presents. They wake up the next morn-ing to find their shoes full of presents, just like here in Eng-land.

Habían vivido ahí durante miles de años antes de la inva-sión de los colonos españoles hace quinientos años. Español

es la lengua principio en las ciudades, mientras guaraní es hablado en los barrios rurales y los pueblos. Un de las espe-cialidades es la comida: hay muchos restaurantes que tie-nen un asado adentro, y una empanada (un tentempié co-mo un pastoso) es muy sabro-sa y barato.

Die Europameisterschaft 2008 wird das "Event des Jahr-hunderts"sein. Erstmals in der Geschichte nimmt Österreich an der Endrunde einer Fußball Europameisterschaft teil. Als gemeinsamer Gastgeber mit der Schweiz, musste sich Österreich nicht qualifizieren. Zum Glück: in früheren Qualifi-kationsrunden sind die Teams aus dem Alpenland stets gescheitert. In diesem Jahr erzielte Österreich noch keinen Sieg - die Leistungen sind eher de-primierend - eine niederlage gegen Schottland 0:1 und ein 0:0 gegen Paraguay. Josef Hickersberger, National trainer sagt: "Es geht aufwärts. Wir haben uns in den letzten Monaten eigentlich verbessert, aber nur in der Defensive. In der Offen-sive bleibt noch viel zu tun." Le par-lement Européen est là-bas. Vous-aimez habiter en Angle-terre ? Pourquoi ? Oui j’aime habiter en Angleter-re car la culture est différente et parce que j’aime l’anglais. Quelles sont les différences entre les collèges en France et en Angleterre ? En France il n’y a pas d’unifor-me et pourtant c’est très strict. En France on est obligé d’étu-dier toutes les matières. Qu’est-ce que vous voulez faire à l’avenir ?

Je voudrais devenir professeur d’anglais en France. Combien de langues parlez-vous ?

Je parle bien l’anglais, je comprends un peu d’alle-mand, j’ai aussi appris le néerlandais mais je ne suis pas très forte. Qu’est-ce que vous fai-tes pendant votre temps

libre ? Je fais du shopping, j’aime aus-si aller au cinéma et sortir avec mes amis. Que pensez-vous de Trinity ? Trinity est une école très sym-pa, ni trop petite ni trop gran-de. Les élèves sont un peu tur-bulents mais très gentils. Parle-moi d’une journée typi-que à Trinity pour vous. Je prends le bus pour aller à Trinity, puis je donne des cours personnels mais aussi en petits groupes et enfin, j’aide les profs dans leurs cours.

« Le Petit Prince », écrit par Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, est un livre fantastique qui s’agit des expériences de Saint-Exupéry lui-même. Une fois il volait par-dessus un désert et il s’est écrasé. C’était à ce mo-ment là qu’il a fait la connais-sance du Petit Prince, « un pe-tit bonhomme tout à fait extraordinaire » qui a beau-coup de choses à nous appren-dre au sujet de l’amour, nos amis et nous-mêmes. Ses idées viennent de ses propres expé-riences sur sa planète, l’asté-roïde B612, et les autres planè-tes en chemin pour la Terre. Il a rencontré beaucoup de gens avant d’arriver sur la Ter-re : un roi, un homme d’affai-res, un géographe, et des au-tres – et chacun a son propre message. Quand il arrive fina-lement sur la Terre il fait la connaissance d’un renard qui lui apprend le secret des cho-ses plus importantes dans la vie.

Depuis le début des an-nées 2000, Nicolas Sarkozy n’a cessé de mettre en scène sa vie privée. Le 18 octobre il a annoncé son divorce avec Céci-lia, pourtant seulement deux mois plus tard il a été vu à Dis-neyland Paris avec Carla Bruni. Le couple s'est promené dans le parc d'attractions sous les flashes des photographes, sou-riant, et très à l'aise. L'ancien-ne mannequin devenue chan-teuse à succès, est âgée de 39 ans, 13 ans de moins que lui. Sarkozy et Bruni s’est mariés samedi 2 février en présence de la famille proche et quel-ques amis. Nicolas Sarkozy et sa nouvelle épouse ont passé leur nuit de noces à la Lanter-ne quand Carla Bruni devient ainsi la troisième épouse du chef de l'Etat. Récemment il y avait des rumeurs qu’il est pos-sible que Carla soit enceinte suggérant une raison pour le mariage rapide. Sarkozy a dit que « nous avons décidé de ne pas mentir » à l’egard de son rapport avec Carla, cependant une partie de la presse l’accuse de mettre en

scène sa vie privée pour mas-quer certaines difficultés de sa politique, notamment écono-mique. Certains croient que le rapport avec Carla n’est qu’u-ne relation de consolation et il aime encore son ex-femme, Cecilia, qui a rallumé sa rela-tion avec Richard Attias, le mil-liardaire le plus jeune du mon-de. Personne sait ce que va apporter l'avenir pour Sarkozy – mais avec éspoir, pas plus des épouses!

For example you don't have to wear school uniform you just have to wear some-thing like badge to represent your school. You also have to buy books for every subjects and if you don't the school won't buy it for you. You have to have your books for every subjects. Every day you have from 5 to 7 lessons every day

and you have been given the time table for every day for the beginning of every school year. If you won't bring one of the books you will have a lot of writing to do so never try to. Also if you have been naughty and you get 3 times told off by teacher you are being ex-cluded straight away even if it is at the beginning of the day. And you also get a lot of homework about 6 pieces every day.
