Riscoprire il patrimonio artistico cittadino, conoscere alcuni dei più noti capolavori dell’arte del ’900, perdersi tra le strade del centro storico, lasciarsi trasportare seguendo il rumore dalle acque del fiume Sile, assaporare i cibi della tradizione, respirare i profumi della città. La stagione culturale che si è aperta è il frutto di un inteso lavoro tra enti istituzionali e soggetti privati, è il risultato di una rete di rapporti che insieme stanno costruendo la spina dorsale della Treviso di domani. Così la riapertura del Museo Bailo, oltre a una data storica per la città, è diventata il fil rouge del rinnovamento culturale cittadino: la culla dell’arte del ’900 riapre le sue porte e svela alla città un immenso tesoro fatto da artisti della levatura di Arturo Martini, Gino Rossi, Luigi Serena, Giovanni Apollonio, Guglielmo e Beppe Ciardi, senza dimenticare la scuola di incisione trevigiana di Giovanni Barbisan e Lino Bianchi Barriviera. Nella “Galleria del Novecento” si snoda un’antologia dei pittori più importanti attivi nel territorio, tra cui Bepi Fabiano, Nino Springolo,Aldo Voltolin, e ovviamente Martini. Una sezione è dedicata allo scultore Carlo Conte e alla sua gipsoteca. La città può ora contare sulla presenza di due grandi musei civici, con una superficie espositiva complessiva di 3700mq. Il complesso conventuale di Santa Caterina, rinnovato nelle strutture, espone la sua collezione

permanente delle raccolte archeologiche e quelle di arte medioevale e moderna, fra cui spicca il ciclo di affreschi con le Storie di Sant’Orsola di Tomaso da Modena. Ospite degli spazi di Santa Caterina dal 31 ottobre al 3 aprile la mostra di Escher, artista poliedrico e sorprendente a cui è stata affidata l’inaugurazione del museo rinnovato. In un dialogo continuo con le altre sedi espositive presso la Casa dei Carraresi è in corso la mostra di El Greco in Italia. Metamorfosi di un genio che ripercorre gli anni cruciali della trasformazione artistica e spirituale dell’artista cinquecentesco. Protagonista della rinascita culturale il centro storico di Treviso quale polo attrattore di flussi turistici importanti e di creazione di una rete tra i grandi eventi. Diverse promozioni congiunte danno modo di visitare le esposizioni presenti in città in un viaggio continuo alla scoperta delle opere di grande valore artistico appartenenti alle mostre temporanee, ma anche alle permanenti, patrimonio inestimabile di Treviso e dei trevigiani. Siamo profondamente convinti che attraverso il rinnovamento culturale passi il rilancio produttivo e sociale della nostra città. Treviso in questa ripresa d’autunno ha saputo cogliere l’occasione e ha voluto puntare sul ricco patrimonio artistico e culturale che la caratterizza come volano di un intero sistema che coinvolge non solo la città ma un intero territorio.

Rediscovering the artistic heritage of the town, learning about some of the most famous masterpieces of the twentieth century, losing oneself in the streets of the old town, being carried away by the sound of the river Sile, enjoying traditional food, breathing the scents of the city. The cultural season that has just opened is the result of a close work between institutional bodies and private entities, of a network of relationships which together are building the backbone of the Treviso of tomorrow. So the re–opening of the Museo Bailo constitutes not only a historic day for the city, but has also become the common thread of a cultural revival in the city: the cradle of twenty–century art opens its doors and reveals a vast treasure to the city created by artists of the calibre of Arturo Martini and Gino Rossi, Luigi Serena, Giovanni Apollonio, Guglielmo and Beppe Ciardi, not forgetting the Treviso engraving school of Giovanni Barbisan and Lino Bianchi Barriviera. The “Twentieth-century gallery” reveals an anthology of the most important painters active in the territory, including Bepi Fabiano, Nino Springolo, Aldo Voltolin and, obviously, Martini. A section is devoted to the sculptor Carlo Conte and his plaster casts. The city now can count on the presence of two important civic museums, with a total exhibition area of 3700 square metres. The convent of Santa Caterina, a renovated

structure, exhibits its permanent collection of archaeological collections and those of medieval and modern art, among which the frescoes depicting the Life of St. Ursula by Tomaso da Modena. The temporary exhibition spaces of Santa Caterina, from 31 October to 3 April, host an exhibition of Escher, the versatile and amazing artist, who inaugurates the refurbished museum. In a constant dialogue with the other venues, the El Greco in Italy. The metamorphosis of a genius exhibition at Casa dei Carraresi explores the crucial years of the sixteenth–century painterʼs artistic and spiritual transformation. The protagonist of the cultural renaissance is the historic centre of Treviso, offering a major attraction for tourists and creating a network between major events. Several options of combined ticket make it possible to visit the exhibitions in the city in a continuous voyage of discovery: investigating not only works of great artistic value in temporary exhibitions, but also the inestimable permanent heritage of Treviso and its citizens. We deeply believe that the productive and social revival of our city can be achieved through cultural renewal. Treviso in this autumn revival has succeeded in seizing the opportunity and has focused on presenting the rich artistic and cultural heritage as a driving force for a whole system that involves not only the city but an entire region.

> Riapre, dopo 12 anni di chiusura e a seguito di importanti interventi museografici e di restauro che ne hanno completamente cambiato il volto,il Museo civico Luigi Bailo.

Nel quartiere storico di Borgo Cavour rinasce la grande Galleria del Novecento, gioiello architettonico e scrigno di una collezione d’arte di immenso valore, un museo moderno, accessibile e di grande suggestione. Un museo nuovo, dotato di tutti i servizi funzionali, in una fabbrica antica – ex convento degli Scalzi fino al 1866 – che diventa ora polo fondamentale, insieme a Santa Caterina, del sistema museale cittadino. Il filo conduttore del progetto espositivo è rappresentato dalla collezione di opere di Arturo Martini, riconosciuto come uno dei più grandi scultori italiani del Novecento. Al Museo Bailo sono esposte oltre 130 opere dell’artista – la raccolta più cospicua tra quelle esistenti – tra cui il gesso originale della Fanciulla piena d’amore, le Allegorie del Mare e della Terra, il famosissimo bronzo della Pisana o l’esemplare unico e stupefacente in terracotta della Venere dei porti. Il percorso museale con le sue circa 350 opere provenienti dalle ricche collezioni civiche, si propone come un flusso narrativo che si sviluppa in senso cronologico offrendo al visitatore opportunità di inediti confronti e relazioni. Nelle prime sale i ritratti e i paesaggi di fine Ottocento introducono al contesto artistico trevigiano a cavallo tra XIX e XX secolo

dove sono ancora molto forti gli echi impressionisti, la pittura a “macchia” e l’utilizzo del “colore puro” come nelle opere di Luigi Serena, Giovanni Apollonio e Vittore Cargnel. Si prosegue concentrandosi sulla figura cardine di Martini e degli artisti che con lui furono in rapporto: il periodo giovanile – al Museo Bailo sono custodite tutte le sue opere più significative – le esperienze di Ca’ Pesaro e i nuovi fermenti avanguardistici che trovano terreno fertile a Treviso anche nelle opere di Nino Springolo, Arturo Malossi, Gino Pinelli. Rilievo particolare è assegnato nel percorso alla produzione di Alberto Martini – il maggiore e forse unico simbolista dell’ambiente trevigiano – e allo straordinario Gino Rossi. Di quest’ultimo grande artista il Museo Bailo custodisce opere di notevole importanza con capolavori assoluti come Primavera in Bretagna e Paese asolano. Il percorso si dipana per tornare, ancora una volta, al grande scultore “protagonista” del Museo Bailo e alla ricchissima testimonianza della sua produzione degli anni Venti, Trenta e Quaranta; non solo sculture ma anche numerosi fogli di grafica, espressioni di una ricerca complementare e parallela alla scultura. Le sale finali sono dedicate ai tanti artisti che durante le due Guerre contribuirono a creare un vivace clima culturale, con una sezione interamente dedicata allo sculture Carlo Conte e alla sua gipsoteca e alla “scuola” di incisione trevigiana con Giovanni Barbisan

e Lino Bianchi Barriviera. Trasparenza, apertura verso l’esterno, dialogo tra i vuoti delle arcate dei chiostri e i pieni delle sculture, interazione con la luce, sono le parole chiave dell’innovativo progetto architettonico con spazi museali che si affacciano attraverso ampie arcate al chiostro cinquecentesco interamente restaurato e dominato da uno dei capolavori di Martini Adamo ed Eva “Ottolenghi” che viene finalmente restituito alla città. Un’opera monumentale e simbolica, perché acquistata proprio dal Comune di Treviso negli anni Novanta, che grazie a una grande finestra collocata sulla facciata del Museo può essere ammirata anche dall’esterno. Un museo “aperto”, luminoso e di ampio respiro, in perfetto dialogo con la città pronto a dare un impulso ancora maggiore alla ricca offerta culturale trevigiana.

of the hubs, along with Santa Caterina, of the city’s museum system. The theme of the exhibition is the collection of works by Arturo Martini, recognised as one of the greatest Italian sculptors of the twentieth century. The Museo Bailo offers over 130 works by the artist – the most sizeable collection in existence – including the original plaster of Fanciulla piena d’amore, the Allegorie del Mare e della Terra, the famous bronze Pisana and the unique, stunning terracotta of the Venere dei porti.The museum layout – housing some 350 works from the rich civic collections – appears as a narrative flow developing chronologically to offer visitors a series of surprising and unexpected juxtapositions. The first rooms present late-nineteenth-century portraits and landscapes to introduce the artistic context of Treviso at the turn of the century, a period still marked by very strong echoes of the Impressionists, Macchiaioli and the use of “pure colour” as in the works of Luigi Serena, Giovanni Apollonio and Vittore Cargnel. The display continues by focusing on the pivotal figure of Martini and artists who revolved around him: the early period – the Museo Bailo boasts all his most important works of these years – the experiences at Ca’ Pesaro and the new

avant-garde developments also found fertile terrain in Treviso in the works of Nino Springolo, Arturo Malossi and Gino Pinelli. Special emphasis is given in the exhibition to Alberto Martini’s production – the greatest and perhaps only symbolist of the Treviso – and to the extraordinary work of Gino Rossi. The Museo Bailo contains important works by this great artist, and include masterpieces like Primavera in Bretagna and Paese asolano. The exhibition then returns to the great sculptor who is the “protagonist” of the new Museo Bailo and the rich collection of works from the 1920s, ’30s and ’40s. Not only sculptures but also numerous drawings, the expressions of a research that was complementary and parallel to sculpture itself. The final rooms are devoted to the many artists who, during the two World Wars, contributed to create a lively cultural climate, with a section dedicated entirely to the sculptures of Carlo Conte and his collection of plaster casts and to the Treviso “school” of engraving with Giovanni Barbisan and Lino Bianchi Barriviera.Transparency, openness to the exterior, dialogue between the empty spaces of the cloister’s arches and the fullness of the sculptures,

interaction with light: these are the keywords of this innovative architectural project. The museum spaces overlook the completely restoredsixteenth-century cloister through wide arches, dominated by one of Martini’s masterpieces, Adamo ed Eva “Ottolenghi”, which is finally returned to the city. This is a monumental and symbolic work because it was purchased by the City of Treviso in the 1990s, and thanks to a large window in the façade of the museum, it can be admired from outside. This is an “open”, luminous and wide-ranging museum in perfect dialogue with the city, ready to give an even greater impetus to the rich cultural life of Treviso.

La variegata esposizione dedicata allʼincisore olandese, mette in mostra oltre 200 tra i suoi capolavori più noti, come Mano con sfera riflettente, Metamorfosi II, e Concavo e Convesso, che occuperanno il Complesso di Santa Caterina dal 31 ottobre al 3 aprile 2016. Ma non solo. La retrospettiva su Escher pone lʼaccento su aspetti mai affrontati prima dʼora con opere da lui firmate e alcune a confronto o di commento alla sua arte. Un percorso espositivo dalla forte carica semiologica che seduce e incanta con disegni e litografie che con il passare del tempo sono entrate nellʼimmaginario quotidiano e collettivo e che hanno visto gli impieghi più disparati. Presenti in mostra le prime opere a carattere

geometrico – di cui alcune nate con intento quasi didattico di spiegare i metodi di tassellazione e la derivazione dai mosaici dellʼAlhambra – arrivando poi ai capolavori oggi noti a tutti gli appassionati, ma anche opere rare a vedersi. The richly varied exhibition presents over 200 works by the Dutch graphic artist, including renowned masterpieces like Hand with Reflecting Sphere, Metamorphosis II, and Convex and Concave, at the Museum

of Santa Caterina from 31 October to 3 April 2016. Moreover, the retrospective focuses on aspects never before addressed with works signed by the artist and items serving as terms of comparisonor comments on his art. The exhibition thus presents an enticing and enchanting array of drawings and lithographs richly imbued with semiotic overtones that have come over the years to form part of our collective, everyday imagery and been put to the most disparate uses. The selection ranges from the early geometric works, some of which born out of the almost didactic intent to explain the methods of tessellation or tiling and their derivation from the mosaics in the Alhambra, to the masterpieces known to all his admirers today including some seldom seen items. Under the patronage of the Treviso City Council, the event is produced and organized by the Arthemisia Group in collaboration with the M.C. Escher Foundation. The curators are Marco Bussagli and Federico Giudiceandrea.

> Escher apre le grandi mostre a Santa Caterina.

La sede dei Musei Civici di Treviso dellʼex convento dei Servi di Maria detto di Santa Caterina ospita la Galleria d’arte medievale, rinascimentale e moderna e la Sezione archeologica permanente. L’archeologica integra nellʼesposizione le importanti collezioni civiche con i ritrovamenti emersi dai più recenti scavi scientifici in città. Vi sono documentati 100 mila anni di presenza e attività umane tra le Prealpi, il Piave e il Sile, fino alla formazione e allo sviluppo del centro urbano di Treviso; dalla preistoria (paleolitico medio – mesolitico – neolitico) all’età del ferro veneta, alla romanità. La Galleria d’arte sviluppa un percorso di opere mirato, in particolare, a mettere in luce la produzione artistica della città e del suo territorio, fra il XIV e gli inizi del XIX secolo: lavori di artisti e botteghe artigiane del ’300 e del gotico internazionale, tavole e oli su tela del Rinascimento veneto – Giovanni Bellini, Cima da Conegliano, Capriolo, Paris Bordon, Tiziano, Pozzoserrato, Jacopo Bassano – grandi teleri seicenteschi da San Teonisto – Pietro Muttoni detto della Vecchia, Bartolomeo Scaligero, Padovanino – ritratti, vedute e soggetti allegorici del ’700 veneziano e del Classicismo e Romaticismo – Ricci, Tiepolo, Rosalba Carriera, Guardi, Appiani, Hayez, Ippolito Caffi, Luigi Querena. Nella ex chiesa, oltre alle pareti affrescate – Giovanni da Bologna, Gentile da Fabriano – sono visibili gli affreschi staccati del famoso ciclo delle Storie di Sant’Orsola, capolavoro di Tomaso da Modena, del 1355 circa, salvati nel 1883 dalla chiesa di Santa Margherita, grazie allʼindomito Luigi Bailo, fondatore nel 1879 dellʼistituzione museale trevigiana.

> Escher opens the cycle of major shows at Santa Caterina.

The Musei Civici di Treviso are housed in the former convent of the Servi di Maria, now Santa Caterina, and include the Gallery of medieval, Renaissance and modern art and the Permanent archaeological section. The latter integrates the major public collections with findings from the most recent excavations in the city. It documents 100,000 years of human presence in an area between the foothills of the Alps, the Piave and Sile rivers, as well as the formation and development of Treviso itself; from prehistory (Middle Palaeolithic - Mesolithic - Neolithic) to the Iron Age and Roman times. The Art Gallery offers an itinerary focusing on the artistic production of the city and of its territory between the 14th and the beginning of the 19th century: works by artists and workshops of the 14th century and the International Gothic, panels and oil paintings of the Venetian Renaissance – Giovanni Bellini, Cima da Conegliano, Capriolo, Paris Bordon, Titian, Pozzoserrato, Jacopo Bassano – imposing 17th-century canvases from San Teonisto – Pietro Muttoni called della Vecchia, Scaligero, Padovanino – portraits, views and allegorical subjects of the 18th century in Venice and by the Classical and Romantic schools – Ricci, Tiepolo, Rosalba Carriera, Guardi, Appiani, Hayez, Caffi, Querena. The former church offers not just the frescoed walls – Giovanni da Bologna, Gentile da Fabriano – but also the detached frescoes of the famous cycle of the Stories of St. Ursula, Tomaso da Modena’s masterpiece of around 1355, saved in 1883 from the church of Santa Margherita, which was to be demolished by Luigi Bailo, founder of the museum in Treviso in 1879.

El Greco è stato uno degli artisti più innovativi e originali della sua epoca: la mostra di Casa dei Carraresi a Treviso gli rende omaggio, concentrandosi proprio sulla fase italiana della sua carriera, il decennio 1567–1576. Nato nellʼisola greca di Creta nel 1541, Domenikos Theotokopoulos – questo il vero nome dellʼartista – diventa famoso in Spagna, ma, prima di approdare nella penisola iberica soggiorna in Italia per quasi dieci anni, trovando la propria strada artistica in seguito al contatto con alcuni tra i migliori maestri del tempo. Allʼepoca Creta faceva parte della Serenissima Repubblica di Venezia. Proprio qui si recò El Greco allʼetà di 26 anni, trasformandosi da iconografo ortodosso in un artista innovativo e rivoluzionario.Ispirandosi ai grandi artisti italiani del tempo, tra cui Tiziano, Tintoretto e Jacopo Bassano, i cui capolavori saranno esposti in mostra, El Greco iniziò ad adottare colori più intensi e una pennellata libera, abbandonando, grazie alla prospettiva, la rigidità e la piattezza dello stile appreso nella sua terra natale, legato

alla tradizione artistica bizantina. La sua genialità sta proprio nellʼessere riuscito a fondere due culture contrapposte: quella greco–ortodossa e quella rinascimentale cattolico–romana. È questo che fa di El Greco lʼartista visionario che sconvolse geni assoluti della modernità tra cui Manet, Cézanne e Picasso.Protagonista indiscusso della cultura figurativa occidentale, El Greco venne, infatti, riscoperto nellʼOttocento, per diventare fonte di ispirazione per le Avanguardie di fine secolo e del Novecento, dallʼImpressionismo al Cubismo. Il percorso conclusivo della mostra documenterà la profonda influenza esercitata dallʼartista sulla pittura moderna attraverso capolavori inediti di Picasso e di Bacon, a testimoniare lʼincredibile attualità del genio de El Greco: un linguaggio personale e straordinario che non ha paragoni possibili. La mostra di Treviso presenta circa 70 opere, tra cui inediti e alcuni tra i lavori più importanti dellʼartista, grazie ai prestiti di prestigiose istituzioni museali internazionali e collezioni private. Il percorso espositivo è arricchito da opere dei grandi artisti che hanno influenzato El Greco – come Tiziano, Tintoretto, Jacopo Bassano, Parmigianino, Correggio – e dei contemporanei di tradizione bizantina, oltre che da suggestioni visive di varia natura (materiali cartografici e incisioni). Due prestiti eccezionali, in anteprima mondiale, chiudono il percorso

espositivo: si potranno ammirare il cartone preparatorio dellʼarazzo de Les Demoiselles dʼAvignon di Picasso, e due Crocifissioni di Bacon, capolavori unici di due artisti affascinati da El Greco, a dimostrare come il Maestro abbia ispirato le avanguardie del Novecento anticipando lʼarte contemporanea.

He is famous for his unmistakable sinuously elongated figures, for human forms distorted by mystic passion, for his acid colours at the limit of psychedelia. El Greco was one of the most innovative and original artists of his time: the exhibition at the Casa dei Carraresi in Treviso pays tribute to the painter, focusing on the Italian stage of his career in the decade between 1567 and 1576. Born on the Greek island of Crete in 1541, Domenikos Theotokopoulos – this is his real name – became famous in Spain, but, before arriving on the Iberian peninsula he spent nearly ten years in Italy, developing his manner in the wake of contact with some of the best artists of the time. At the time, Crete was part of the Venetian Republic, and it was to the Serenissima that El Greco travelled, transforming himself from Orthodox icon painter to innovative and revolutionary artist.

Drawing inspiration from the great Italian artists of the time, such as Titian, Tintoretto and Jacopo Bassano, works by whom will be displayed in the exhibition, El Greco began to make use of more intense colours and a more flowing brushwork, using perspective to abandon the rigidity and the flatness of the style learned in his native land and associated with the Byzantine artistic tradition. His genius lies in his having been able to fuse two opposing cultures: that of the Greek–Orthodox world and that of the Roman Catholic Renaissance. This is what makes El Greco the visionary artist who so struck such geniuses of modernity as Manet, Cézanne and Picasso. An undisputed

exponent of Western figurative art, El Greco was in reality rediscovered in the nineteenth century, becoming a source of inspiration for the avant–garde movements of the nineteenth and twentieth century, from Impressionism to Cubism.The final section of the exhibition documents the artistʼs profound influence on modern painting through a series of little–seen masterpieces by Picasso and Bacon, bearing witness to the extraordinary topicality of El Grecoʼs creativity: a personal and extraordinary language that is beyond comparison.The exhibition in Treviso presents approximately 70 works, including some unpublished and highly important works by the artist, thanks to loans

from prestigious international museums and private collections. The exhibition is enriched by the works of great artists who influenced El Greco – such as Titian, Tintoretto, Jacopo Bassano, Parmigianino and Correggio – and contemporary Byzantine works, as well as by visual documents of various kinds (maps and engravings). Two outstanding loans, world premieres of their kind, close the exhibition: it will be possible to admire the preparatory cartoon for the tapestry of Les Demoiselles dʼAvignon by Picasso, and two Crucifixions by Bacon, unique masterpieces by two artists fascinated by El Greco, in demonstration of how the latter has inspired the avant–garde trends anticipating contemporary art.

> At Casa Giorgione Museum opens, from 20 December 2015, a new section devoted to pottery: for the first time will be displayed until 25 April 2016 a selection of ancient earthenware from Dr. Renzo Varo’s collection – brought together from 1946 to 1966 – that was donated to the city in 2007. It is an outstanding collection not only for the amount of exhibits (170 artefacts), but above all for the rare and exceptional character of some of them, for the variety of their functions (vases, jugs, basins, pots, albarellos, spools, wall plates, holy water fonts), for the long time span they date back to (16th to 20th century), and for the limited geographical area they come from (Castelli, Penne, Bussi, Torre de’ Passeri, Rapino, Deruta, Cerreto, Ariano Irpino, Naples). This donation makes the City Museum of Castelfranco the first one in north-eastern Italy to own a collection of majolica pottery from Umbria, Campania and Abruzzo.

> Dal prossimo 20 dicembre il Museo Casa Giorgione si arricchirà di una nuova sezione dedicata alla Ceramica: verrà così esposta per la prima volta al pubblico, fino al 25 aprile, una selezione di circa 170 pezzi della Collezione creata dal dottor Renzo Varo tra il 1946 e il 1966 e donata alla città nel 2007. The Casatella Trevigiana DOP is the only soft cheese in Italy to have the protected designation of origin, it is characterized by the sweet taste and by a slightly sour hint typical of milk. Prosecco DOC and DOCG is instead the flagship wine of simple but elegant drinking: the most well-known Italian sparkling wine in the world, and which has a production area of excellence in the March.

> Occhi puntati su Treviso – da aprile a ottobre – quando la città ospita numerosi Festival. Non solo appuntamenti consolidati dedicati al cinema, alla letteratura e al fumetto, ma moltissimo altro. Se da 27 anni il Festival Organistico Internazionale propone in città concerti di altissima qualità, nel 2015 anche il linguaggio universale della statistica ha scelto Treviso come sua capitale e tornerà anche il prossimo anno il Festival della Statistica e della Demografia. Il pensiero mette le ali grazie a “Pensare il Presente. Festival filosofico della città di Treviso”, mentre è la musica la grande protagonista dell’Home Festival: appuntamento ormai divenuto irrinunciabile per migliaia di persone.

È prodotto dall’Associazione “Sole Luna, Un ponte tra le culture” che ha come scopo fondante avviare processi di amicizia e interscambio tra popoli. Oltre a promuovere le produzioni indipendenti, il festival organizza rassegne tematiche per le scuole, corsi di formazione per giovani registi e convegni di geopolitica internazionale in collaborazione con il Ministero degli Affari Esteri e con le Nazioni Unite. Per l’edizione 2016, due le rassegne in concorso: “Human Rights”, mette in luce situazioni di violazione dei diritti umani, “The Journey”, un viaggio antropologico, un ponte di conoscenza dell’“altro” in un confronto non pregiudiziale. Presidente della giuria internazionale 2016 è il regista e produttore Gianni Massironi.

It is produced by “Sole Luna, Un ponte tra le culture” Association, whose aim is to initiate fundamental processes of friendship and exchange between peoples.

In addition to promoting independent productions, the festival organizes thematic showcases for schools, training courses for young directors and conferences of international geopolitics in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and with the United Nations.For the year 2016, two sections in competition: “Human Rights”, highlights situations worldwide where human rights are infringed, “The Journey”, an anthropological trip, a bridge of knowledge of the “other” in a comparison witout pregiudice. Chairman of the international jury in 2016 edition is the director and producer Gianni Massironi.

> CartaCarbone è l’unico festival di Letteratura Autobiografica in Italia. Organizzato dall’associazione culturale Nina Vola, approderà nel 2016 alla terza edizione. > CartaCarbone is the only festival in Italy dedicated to Autobiographical Literature. Organised by the Nina Vola cultural association, 2016 will see its third edition. Thanks to its unusual theme, CartaCarbone immediately gained recognition beyond the borders of the Treviso region, with visitors coming from all over Italy to participate in thematic workshops, book presentations, shows, round tables and exhibitions. There are numerous events, with Italian and foreign guests the protagonists of performances and meetings of autobiography, fiction and poetry. Nina Vola is already working for 2016 to welcome all those who love writing, reading, poetry, the arts and all other forms of genres in which autobiography figures, all of which are different expressions of a single intention: to describe the world and oneself.

I VIVARINITHE VIVARINI FAMILY

> Lo splendore della pittura tra Gotico e Rinascimento. 

A cura di Giandomenico Romanelli sarà la prima grande mostra realizzata sinora sui Vivarini, la famiglia di artisti che tra la seconda metà del ’400 e primi del ’500 compete con i Bellini nel vivacissimo ambiente della pittura veneziana in profonda evoluzione. Sono gli anni cruciali e magici che marcano il passaggio decisivo dell’arte dal Gotico fiorito allo splendore e al rigore del Rinascimento. In mostra un nucleo di importanti capolavori di Antonio, Bartolomeo e Alvise: dai preziosi polittici alle tavole per la devozione privata; storie di santi e di miracoli, ricordi di antico e scene di toccante pietà, ma anche di conclamata modernità; opere nelle quali i colori risaltano in tutta la loro forza accompagnandosi e poi liberandosi dai preziosi fondi oro per misurarsi con la natura e le atmosfere in paesaggi delicati e magnifici. Nel corso di sette decenni i Vivarini intrecciano rapporti con molti dei maggiori artisti dell’epoca accompagnando l’evoluzione dell’arte lagunare con intuizioni di assoluta modernità. Sul territorio della Marca l’arte dei Vivarini lascia una scia multiforme e generosa. Opere dell’atelier e dei seguaci più immediati saranno collegate da itinerari e suggestioni di ricerca in uno dei territori più affascinanti e ospitali del nostro Paese.

> The splendour of painting between Gothic and Renaissance. 

This exhibition – curated by Giandomenico Romanelli – is the first ever to be dedicated to the Vivarini family of artists who between the second half of the fifteenth and the early sixteenth century competed with the Bellini dynasty for dominance on the lively and continually changing stage of Venetian painting. These were the crucial and magical years marking the decisive shift from flowery Gothic art to the splendour and rigour of the Renaissance. On show will be the greatest masterpieces of Antonio, Bartolomeo and Alvise, from large polyptychs to panels for private devotion, stories of saints and miracles, echoes of antiquity and scenes of touching piety but also full-blown modernity. Worksin which the colours stand out in all their force, accompanied by and then freeing themselves of the precious gold grounds in favour of an eye for nature and atmosphere in delicate and magnificent landscapes. During seven decades, the Vivarini established contacts with many of the greatest artists of the time and they stimulated the evolution of art in Venetian lagoon with insights of absolute modernity. On the local territory, the art of the Vivarini left a varied and generous trail. Paintings by the workshop

and immediate followers will be linked to itineraries and suggestions for research in one of the most fascinating and hospitable areas of our country.

LA COLLEZIONE SALCETHE SALCE COLLECTION

> Per la Collezione Salce, straordinaria raccolta di manifesti di grafica pubblicitaria donata allo Stato italiano dal trevigiano Nando Salce nel 1962, sta per aprirsi una nuova, straordinaria stagione.

Dopo un lungo lavoro di catalogazione, caratterizzato dalla massima modernità strumentale e dall’assoluto rigore scientifico, è ora infatti disponibile una banca dati aggiornata e completa, che, a breve, sarà liberamente consultabile on line. Le schede dettagliate degli oltre 25.000 pezzi presenti in Collezione confluiranno, infatti, nel sito dedicato al neonato Museo Nazionale Collezione Salce, che aprirà i battenti nell’autunno del 2016 con l’intento di contribuire originalmente alla conoscenza e alla rappresentazione dell’arte e dei costumi del ’900. Dalla stagione d’oro della Belle Epoque e del modernismo, dal déco e dall’arte di regime fino ai linguaggi contaminati del secondo dopoguerra, le affiches collezionate da Nando Salce coprono infatti un intero secolo e illustrano il catalogo dei migliori cartellonisti italiani e stranieri. Sito in Treviso, negli spazi adiacenti alla chiesa di S. Gaetano – anch’essa prossima ad una riapertura al pubblico dopo un importante risanamento strutturale – , il Museo darà concreta visibilità alla presenza sul territorio del MIBACT che, indotto proprio dalla rilevanza del patrimonio Salce, vi ha promosso grossi investimenti. Alla prima sede museale ne seguirà infatti una seconda, allestita nell’ex chiesa

di S. Margherita; con carattere più spiccatamente polifunzionale, comprensiva anche di depositi tecnologicamente avanzati. Nel Museo di S. Gaetano, i manifesti della Collezione saranno esposti a rotazione, nell’ambito di mostre temporanee che alterneranno approfondimenti monografici e proposte tematiche; esposizioni ideate all’insegna di quella molteplicità di spunti culturali e sociali che costituiscono l’identità stessa dei materiali Salce.

After a long process of cataloguing, marked by the use of the latest tools and absolute scientific rigour, a complete and updated database is now available and will shortly be made freely accessible online. The detailed descriptions of the more than 25,000 pieces in the collection present will appear on the site dedicated to the newly founded Museo Nazionale Collezione Salce, which will open in the autumn of 2016 with the intention of contributing in an original manner to the knowledge and depiction of the art and customs of the twentieth century. From the golden age of the Belle Epoque and modernism, and from art deco and the Fascist regime to the multi-genre languages of the post-war years, the posters collected by Nando Salce cover an entire century and illustrate the catalogue of the best Italian

and foreign poster designers.Located in Treviso in the spaces adjacent to the church of San Gaetano – which is itself close to a reopening to the public after a major structural refurbishment – the Museum will give a concrete presence in the area for the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Tourism which, prompted by the importance of the Salce holdings, has made a major investment in the project. The first museum venue will be followed by a second one in the former church of San Margherita; offering a more distinctly multifunctional space, it will include technologically advanced storage. In the Museo di S. Gaetano, the collection’s posters will be displayed in rotation within the context of temporary exhibitions offering monographic studies and themes; the exhibitions will be designed with an eye on the multiplicity of cultural and social ideas that constitute the very identity of the Salce holdings.
