Canrig’s exclusive folding Torque Guide

enables the safest and fastest rig up

and rig down in the industry. The com-

plete system, which folds into a single,

transportable, oilfield skid, includes the

torque guide, the top drive unit and all

services. In addition:

• The torque guide is installed vertically after mast erection.

• A single-point disconnect allows for all electrical and hydraulic services to stay with the unit during rig moves.

• All bolting and flanges are eliminated.

• Minimal rig interface; no torque is reacted through mast.

Canrig’s portable top drive systems

provide flexibility for multi-rig applica-

tions. They include:

• Adjustable telescoping top section

• Variable length lower sections

• Multi-block interface

• Compact design accommodates shorter masts

Canrig is one of the world’s leading suppliers of top drive drilling systems for the oil and gas industry. The company manufactures, markets and services a full range of critically engineered portable and fixed top drive systems for most land and offshore rigs. This includes top drives in every size and configuration to meet any drilling application whether ma-rine, desert, jungle or arctic environments.

Canrig has had a commitment to quality since the compa-ny’s inception. The first top drive delivered by the company continues to perform efficiently in the field. Since serial num-ber 1 rolled off the line we have employed a policy of continu-ous improvement that ensures that all Canrig top drives are as durable as that first unit.

Today Canrig top drives set the standard for safety, reli-ability and efficiency. Superbly engineered products and un-paralleled service have moved the company to the forefront of the top drive drilling industry.

Intelligent AccessoriesCanrig’s commitment to drilling efficiency has resulted in

the development of a line of intelligent top drive accessories. Each blends innovation with excellence in engineering.

AdvAnced diAgnostic systemThe Advanced Diagnostics System (ADS) monitors stra-

tegic points of the top drive unit and its associated control and power system, making intelligent assessments of mal-functions and reporting possible causes. Such messages may include on-line help text for quick access to operating and troubleshooting instructions; failure of power or control cables; presence of defective components; and parameters “out of adjustment”, with anticipated errors or deviations of expected results.

The ADS communicates with the operator via a color moni-tor with touch sensitive screen to respond to messages. This Operator Interface Terminal also allows inputting correction factors and shut-down of non-essential functions in case of equipment failure.

trAveling equipment Anti-collision system Traveling equipment can sometimes accidentally come

into contact with other parts of the rig, usually the crown, the floor or the racking board. When such contact occurs, the results can be injury to personnel and/or damage to equip-ment.

That’s why Canrig has developed the Traveling Equipment Anti-Collision System. This system sounds an alarm when-ever contact between certain rig components is about to oc-cur. If the alarm sounds and the problem is not corrected, the action in question is stopped utilizing an automatic shut down device.

Two different versions of the system are available, TAC I for rigs without top drives and TAC II for rigs with top drives.

equipment condition monitoring systemA step change in the approach to enhanced maintenance

of equipment is underway across many industries. Equip-ment Condition Monitoring (ECM) of drilling rig equipment in real time is not only possible but proven to be effective. Using sophisticated sensors, purpose built software and web-based data collection, Canrig can deliver an ever greater level of equipment reliability and performance.

enhAnced Well controlThe Canrig Lower Well Control Valve (LWCV) actuator is a

significant upgrade in reliability and functionality from any similar device. Designed as a replacement for existing actua-tors, it is field retrofittable to lower well control valves in use today. The dual rack and pinion open / close mechanism is not effected when operation is attempted while the pipe is rotating. The LWCV actuator is capable of functioning valves in either direction against 2,500 PSI differential pressure.

With over 400 actuators in use we know this technology significantly improves reliability, enhances well control and lowers operating costs.

tdsu-grAsshopperThe TDSU-Grasshopper enables fast and orderly rig up of

the cables and hoses that are required to run from the TDSU to the rig floor. This is accomplished through the use of a hy-draulically powered telescoping post combined with a series of articulating cable trays.

The TDSU-Grasshopper is suitable for all land rig appli-cations. It provides excellent protection of the cables and hoses during transport, rig up and operation.
