Thank you. Words simply are not adequate to express our sincere appreciation. And thanks for the kind words and support at the Memorial Service for Carole Core at the Reynoldsburg United Methodist Church. A special thanks to Pastors Jeff & Maxine, the choir and director Phil Wallace. Custodians and kitchen volunteers also need our thanks. The number of cards and expressions of sympathy have been nearly unbelievable.

With warm regard, Maurice Core & Family

H. Don Foster Family would like to thank our Church Family for the kindness, care and compassion given to us at the time of the death of our beloved Don. Pastor Maxine and Rev. Ivon for their comforting words. Jan, for her beautiful music and Meals of Comfort Committee for the delicious luncheon served. We are certain Don’s own little piece of heaven is filled with Scarlet Cardinals, Lavender Lilacs and maybe a baseball or two. You are indeed the hands and feet of Jesus.

H. Don Foster Family

Dear Hannah Sisters, thank you so much for your gift to the missions fund in memory of John. I know your gift will reach many people in many places.

God Bless. Pat Dearest

Dear Staff & Folks at Reynoldsburg United Methodist Church, I am sorry this is a little late but I wanted to thank you for the great flowers that were an awesome way to start my time here.

Peace & Thanks. Nate

My dear praying friends - I had a mammogram 9/20, just a year after surgery, and was told the results were free and clear. So what have I really learned? As I heard in a witness recently, “Jesus walked me through”. Scripture and devotions often spoke directly. Most of the time, Jesus was in your prayers, my inbox and mailbox, on the phone and at my door through you! I may even have gotten better at waiting. I know I’ve grown in empathy and patience with others experiencing difficulties. Thanks again for your caring of Dick and I. Margie Barrett

You’ve heard it said that prayer is the nerve that moves the hand of God. Here at Reynoldsburg UMC, we are activating the nerve; and dozens of folks have signed up to commit to a prayer ministry.Ginger Wenger has held two orientations for prayer walkers, and 39 people have been trained so far. Ginger says prayer walking is a ``stroll with your soul,’’ and ``praying on site with insight.’’ It’s a once-a-month commitment to pray for at least one hour for the church staff, the meetings in progress and the life of our church. The prayer walker moves around the church, praying silently and visiting the Prayer Room to pray over the many written concerns left there. You can also pray from home. Prayer walkers also may walk their neighborhoods, praying silently over the homes and those within. This can take place as often as the prayer walker likes. The next one-hour training session is Monday, Oct. 21, at 6:30 p.m. You may sign up with Ginger at [email protected] Sam Watkins has several dozen volunteers called Prayer Partners to pray behind the scenes during worship services. The commitment is about three times a year for your preferred worship hour. Sign up at [email protected].

NOTICE:In cleaning up the church laundry room, 25 Colonial-style aprons and 25 dust caps were found. All are white, handmade and appear to be very new. If you know anything about who used them or who they belong to, call Ruth Leonard at 614-861-8637. They have been washed and carefully folded, and need a home.

Meet the Staff & New Members EventsRenée Wilson joined us in June to work alongside Dustin Ichida as a second Minister with Students. While she most recently served as the youth minister of First UMC, in Rocky Mount, NC, Renée is not new to Ohio. She grew up in Gallipolis, completed her undergraduate work at The Ohio State University, and went on to study School Psychology at the University of Cincinnati, working with Cincinnati Public Schools for a few years before feeling called to jump into full-time ministry. Renée loves working with students and is really excited to be a part of the team here at Reynoldsburg.

Mike Schreiber spent 7 years as an elementary physical education teacher before coming to Reynoldsburg UMC. He received his Bachelor’s degree in 2003 from Muskingum College and his Master’s in 2013 from Emporia State University in Health, Physical Education and Recreation. Mike has a passion for health and wellness and is also an avid runner. Mike has been married to his wife, Megan, for 4 years, and they have a daughter, Kyler.

Laura McCoy joined Reynoldsburg UMC as the Minister of Children in August 2013. She previously worked at Stonybrook UMC in Gahanna. Laura has been married for 25 years to her husband, Tim, and they have two sons -- Ryan, 18, and Owen, 12. Laura has degrees in Early Childhood Education and Respiratory Therapy.

SPRING HILL DAY CAMPSpring Hill Day Camp returned to

Reynoldsburg UMC during the week of August 5th to 9th. It was an amazing adventure for 115 kids. The kids began each

day in a dance party, hearing a Bible story, watching a skit and learning the day’s verse. They spent most of the week outside enjoying many activities including: water games on the inflatable slide and slip-n-slide, jumping on the bungee trampoline and climbing the rock wall. After each activity, staff talked with the kids about how they could relate the activity to Jesus. At the end of the week, the camp’s closing ceremony included a recap for the parents and an award certificate for each child. Spring Hill 2014 is already scheduled for July 28-August 1. VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

Vacation Bible School was huge success again this year. There were over 350 kids from our church and community who roamed our halls, with a “Under the Big Top” theme the week of June 17-21. Each day began with music led by Tim & Tasha Levert, followed by interactive Bible stories, games, crafts and circus-themes snacks. The huge success would not have been possible if not for our volunteers and servants who helped that week. We cannot wait to see everyone back next summer.

WORKCAMP 2013: LIVIN’ THE DREAM Renée WilsonIn a world with so many modern conveniences, the question needs to be asked: Who (excitedly) signs up for a whole week of working in the summer heat, sleeping on floors, showering at a local gym, building wheelchair ramps, painting ainting bedrooms, sanding porches, and cleaning yards? Over 100 students & adults - that’s who! In July, our church sent two crews -- one Sr. High & one Jr. High -- to team up with Jackson Area Ministries and serve in Wheelersburg, Portsmouth, and Chillicothe. Days were filled with working on homes and loving on families, while evenings saw intense times of worship and study -- all focused on the question “What does it really look like to live the dream God has for you?”. Dates are already in place for next year’s WorkCamps and students are pumped to return!
