A FEW WORDS ABOUT PLANNING YOUR FUNERAL (for those who wish to think ahead!) Please remember that when thinking about your Funeral plans, it is important to inform those who will be in charge of the arrangements of what you want. It is a good idea to talk to your family and write into your will if you would like a Requiem Mass so that your wishes are known and respected.

LEGION OF MARY: Maria Igoe writes: ‘Due to illness among us, the members of the Legion of Mary would like to make a request to parishioners, both men and women, to consider helping us out. If you feel that you are able to give 6 months to attend the Meetings (Tuesdays after the morning Service at St John’s) and assist with our work, we would be very grateful. There are many parishioners, who are housebound and love to have a visit, as well as those we have been keeping in contact with while they have been in hospital. These visits are very rewarding. Further details can be had from Maria Igoe 669 2960. Please consider this appeal.’

FAIRTRADE WEEKEND A reminder from Linda Brown that this weekend is Fairtrade Weekend ‘ … which leaves only one more Fairtrade shopping day before Christmas, so come and view our selection of cards and gifts and support our friends in Legho’.

A PARENT’S PRAYER

Dear Lord. I thank You for the gift of my children. I thank You for the gift of faith that You have given me. I ask You to keep me faithful and to give me that grace to pass this on to them, so that they grow up loving You and knowing that they are loved by You. Keep them safe. I worry so much about them sometimes, because the world in which we live today has so many dangers. I cannot possibly watch over them constantly, and so I ask you to do this. Give them good friends who will help them mature and develop into caring adults. I thank You for their health and I ask You to give them continued good health. I know that they are precious in Your sight. I know that You love them even more than I do and so I entrust them to Your care. I consecrate myself and all my family to Your divine mercy. Amen.

A PRAYER FROM POPE FRANCIS

Spirit filled evangelisers means evangelisers fearlessly open to the working of the Holy Spirit. At Pentecost, the Spirit made the apostles go forth from themselves and turned them into heralds of God’s wondrous deeds, capable of speaking to each person in his or her own language.

The Holy Spirit also grants the courage to proclaim the newness of the Gospel with boldness (parrhesia) in every time and place, even when it meets with opposition. Let us call upon him today, firmly rooted in prayer, for without prayer all our activity risks being fruitless and our message empty.

Jesus wants evangelisers who proclaim the Good News not only with words, but above all by a life transfigured by God’s presence.’ Evangelii Gaudium 259
