£40 RolloverRUN LIVERPOOL LAUNCH ‘FAB FOUR MILE’ EVENT AS PART OF MARATHON WEEKEND.

Organisers of the new RunLiverpool Marathon which takes place in the Liverpool City Region this coming October, have announced the launch of a secondary warm-up run on the day prior to the long-distance event.

The ‘Fab Four Mile’ will take place in and around the city’s Sefton Park on Saturday 8th October.

The four mile event will be open to runners of all ages and abil ities - not just those competing in the 26.2 mileRunLiverpool Marathon.

The Fab Four Mile is a friendly jogging event for the friends and family of participants along with running fans, and organisers expect that it will be hugely popular with entrants and supporters from outside of the City Region - especially those who have not been to Liverpool before.

An estimated 30,000 visitors are expected to stay in the city during the weekend, many of whom will be supporting the field of 12,000 Marathon runners.

These visitors to the Liverpool City Region will contribute to the profile of the city as a tourist destination and running centre of excellence, as well as contributing to the Visitor Economy industry which includes the city’s hotels, restaurants, transport, attractions, shopping and nightlife.

Race Director, Alan Rothwell said:

“The Fab Four Mile is a great opportunity to be part of the RunLiverpool Marathon weekend without running 26.2 miles. Not only does it serve as a warm up to the marathon itself on the Sunday, and if participants have friends or family travelling to support them, they can take part together. The geographical spread of marathon weekend events allows us to showcase many areas of the city and the Fab Four Mile is no exception. Once runners have completed the course in Sefton Park, we will be encouraging them to visit near-by attractions such as Penny Lane before heading back into the city centre.”

Places in the Fab Four Mile event are £10 and participants will receive a Fab Four Mile T-shirt, enamel badge, breakfast in the park and transportation from the city centre to Sefton Park. To register visit: www.runliverpoolmarathon.com

Budding runner Claire Parkin from Prenton, has laced up her running shoes to train for the Virgin London Marathon in aid of Breast Cancer Campaign.

The Senior Administrator at NHS Wirral will join thousands of runners for the 26.2mile race on Sunday 17 April in memory of her mother Gweneth Downey who sadly passed away from breast cancer in January 2009.

Claire said: “My mum was diagnosed with breast cancer in her forties. Treatment was successful but the cancer returned and Mum spent the next 13 years battling various forms of cancer before she passed away in 2009, aged 56. I started running to take my mind off my mumʼs illness and completed a number of runs in her memory, running a total of 56 miles - one mile for every year of her life. Iʼm not an experienced runner so my family and friends knew how much of a challenge it was for me.”

She added: “Before Mum died I made a promise to her that I would run a marathon one day in aid of breast cancer research. What possessed me to say such a thing Iʼll never know, but it's not a promise I intend to break, so Iʼm honoured to run for Breast Cancer Campaign as itʼs a cause very close to my heart. Breast cancer has also affected my grandmother and auntie, so I am very aware that I or other family members could possibly be affected in the future. I intend to raise as much money as I possibly can for the charity, so I hope lots of people will sponsor me for this challenge and help Campaign continue funding vital breast cancer research.” Frank Field MP for Birkenhead, has given Claire his full backing for the running challenge. He said: ““Itʼs fantastic that Claire in my constituency is running the London Marathon for Breast Cancer Campaign. Funding breast cancer research is such an important cause as this disease affects so many people across the UK. I wish Claire well with her fundraising and good luck for the run. Iʼm sure the local community will be fully behind her.”

To help Claire reach her fundraising target of £1500 please visit www.justgiving.com/Claire-Parkin0 and donate what you can.

Punish negligent oenders with personal injury claims.Dealing with medical expenses can be really expensive. Taking care of the health and body during an injury can be a really difficult task in your life. However, if your health has been jeopardized due to another individuals negligence, you should file for a personal injury claim. People who have been victimized with a bad personal injury can seek legal justice with the help of personal injury claims. There is a lot of expense involved nowadays in dealing with health injuries and managing these expenses will be easy with compensa-tion claims.

There are many ways in which an individual could get affected with a personal injury. Some of the most common personal injury cases involve an accident that could be facilitated by a car or a motorcycle.

These accidents can be really disastrous on the victim and the expenses will be exorbitant. This is where a car accident claim will offer justice to the victim who has been wronged. It doesnt matter how the accident occurred. It could have happened when the victim was

walking on the road or if the victim had a bad car accident due to negligence on part of a drunken driver. Legal professionals can offer healthy car accident compensation to victims.

Another really common area where many people get involved in a personal injury case is in the event of an accident at work. Many work places or offices have some or the other maintenance job going on and at such times the safety of the employees should be considered. If a person gets injured due to a collapse of the ceiling or in case of an office negligence related event then a work accident claim has to be filed.

Work accident compensation should be provided to the injured person so as to ease the financial burden that will arise due to physical problems and injuries.

A legal solution offering expertise in personal injury claim can be quite helpful to victims of ignorance. Certain legal consultants have a fantastic experience and knowledge of the personal injury law and they can offer the best

services for personal injury victims. These lawyers are specially trained to handle these kinds of cases and they can help in case of personal injury cases involving car accidents, work accidents, industrial diseases, medical negligence, whiplash pains post injury, etc. Once these legal solutions offer guidance in personal injury claims, victims of personal injury will be able to get a fine compensation that will address all health and finance related expenses.

Some people say that to gain experience fast, then theirʼs nothing like getting thrown in at the deep end. I am pretty sure that at some stage in everyone's lives, we all experience this. But for one young Liverpool actress, being thrown in at the deep end really did prove to be the start of a wonderful career.

Suzanne Collins was just 20yrs old when her big break finally came with ʻBrooksideʼ. The successful TV soap at this stage had already graced our screens for some 16yrs, and In the mid - 1990s it began raising more controversial subjects, and Suzanne's character ʻNikki Shadwickʼ was right at the heart of most of them.

TM: You were just 4 years old when Brookside began, were you a fan of it growing up?

SC: Yes I was I loved it, I think it put Liverpool on the map and when I was away from home, people would of ten relate the scouse accent to theBrookside series even before I was in it.

TM: Did anyone on the show influence you in aspiring to become an actress?

SC: Anna Friel, Sue Johnson and Amanda Burton. TM: Letʼs talk briefly about your character in Brookside ʻNikki Shadwickʼ; you landed this role at the tender age of 20, how did this happen?

SC: I was actually 19 studying for A levels in Performing Arts in Dance Drama & Music and English Language & Literature and was spotted whilst performing in a college production of Jim Cartwrights ʻTwoʼ. I was asked to audition for a new family in Brookside. They worked around my

A levels so I was a student on screen and off. I was only contracted for two episodes to begin with but ended up staying for 6 very happy years. Nikki was a joy to play, very challenging as an actress. I was always convinced they would kill her off but was grateful they trusted me with fantastic storylines and was there to the very last episode.

TM: As a young actress you were given some very controversial storylines in Brookside to work with, such as Rape, Alcoholism, Court Cases and Family Bereavement, how did you find dealing with such delicate subjects?

SC: I thrived on been giving these storylines. As an actress I felt honoured to be given storylines I could really get my teeth into. Brookside is famous for breaking the boundaries with storylines in Television and I am proud to be part of it.

TM: Is there a particular storyline throughout the whole series that sticks in your mind?

SC: The drug rape was ground breaking and the most controversial and the aftermath led on to my character being an alcoholic and suicidal.

TM: You were there until the very end in 2003, you made lots of good friends, what was it like at the very end?

SC: Yes I made many, many friends who are still today the closest people to me. Not only the cast but also the production, crew, make up, wardrobe, the directors, the cleaners, security etc. We worked many long hours so I saw more of these people than my own family. So it was hard to say goodbye and accept I wouldnʼt see them everyday doing a job I loved. However I was pregnant and my life was moving in a new direction.
