DECEMBER 2014 Issue 23 Goolie Gossip Gooloogong Fire Brigade A big thank you to the Community for the donation to the Fire Brigade of nearly $190 instigated by Phil Morrow (everyone involved will understand Phil's inventive fundraising efforts!). Fire Season is here and subs are now due for 2014/15 season. They remain the same at $10 and can be left at the Handy Mart or contact Ann-Maree Watson. Landcare News Congratulations to Gooloogong yet again for another fantastic award from Tidy Towns! This year we were runner’s up in the new category “Community Actions and Partnerships” The Landcare Group got the submission together but it was the big combined effort from all the groups involved that won the award. Thanks to everyone involved: the Gooloogong Country Club, Peter Hamilton and the RMS, the Local Land Services (LLS), Gooloogong Public School, the Weddin Community Nursery and Mid-Lachlan Landcare. Thanks as always to Roy Thompson for carrying on Maisie’s many years of wonderful work. Thanks also to Kylie Reeves for co-ordinating the submissions. Go over and check out the plantings of trees and understory at the Country Club when you have the chance. The direct seeded area is coming on slowly but surely. On the way look at the new native garden at the school. Special thanks to the Country Club volunteers who will look after the tree plantings through another long hot summer!
