French (Français), {fʁɑ"sɛ} is a Romance language spoken as a first language by around 136 million people worldwide.

A total of 500 million speak it as either a first, second, or foreign language.

It is an official language in 29 countries, plus the Vatican City, which from what is called, in French, La Francophonie, the community of French-speaking countries.
