HE’S REALLY DONE IT THIS TIME. WE ALL THOUGHT HE COULDN’T DO IT. WE KNEW IT WOULD NEVER HAPPEN. BUT NOW, AFTER LESS THAN A MONTH, KNOWN SHREW KATHERINE MIGNOLA IS TAMED. PETRUCHIO IS NOW A LOCAL HERO. AND WE KNOW HOW HE DID IT.

STEP 1: FIND A GIRL AND GET APPROVAL FROM HER FATHER TO MARRY HER. Being the only suitor for Katherine, Baptista Mignola, the father of Katherine, was thrilled at

t h e t h o u g h t o f someone marrying his shrew. But for you, it might not be that easy. You first have to find a girl whom you could be a possible suitor for.

I t w o u l d b e preferable if she was rich. Before you ask her father for her hand in marriage, talk to her. Make sure you seem as if you are in love with her, and make sure you are the stronger person, not talking any bad talk from her. It was not easy for Petruchio to persuade Katherine that he was actually in love with her. But, with much confidence and rhetoric language, he got her to believe it. Throughout the whole process, he did not take any dirty talk from Katherine. He made sure that his insults were better, that he could outwit her. And he did. After that, you must convince the father to let you marry her. For Petruchio, it was easy, because of Katherine being a shrew and so she had no other suitors. But, for you, you might have competition. Make the father pick you by offering many things.

Also, convince him that his daughter is in love with you, not a different suitor. STEP 2: MARRY THE GIRL AND TAKE HER TO YOUR HOME. Petruchio, as we know, a sneaky man, decided to act like his wife. For his wedding, he wanted everyone to see what she was like. He wanted to surprise them when she comes back tamed. He dressed in filthy rags, discusting everyone. He kicked the priest , astonishing everyone. And then, he heaved her over his shoulder and took her off before anyone could say a word. This may seem like something that could be skipped, but the more time you spend stalling bringing your shrew home, the more shrew-ish she will become. The hardest part of this step is convincing her father that you must take her with you the moment the wedding ends. You mustn’t let him say no, because he would if he had the time. The way to do that is to take her off with you immediately. That way, nobody can reject your actions because there is no time to do so. STEP 3: TAME HER. This, frankly, is the single most important step in the taming process. You must make sure that she is doing what you wish, but at the same time she must think you are doing it because you love her. “This is a way to kill a wife with kindness,”(Shakespeare.4.1.143)Petruchio says. In order to do that, he insists that everything given to Katherine is not right for her, because she deserves more. From the moment he arrives at his household, he exclaims that the meat is marred and uneatable for his new wife, therefore she does not eat it or anything else that is given to her. He forbids it. When she goes to sleep, he pretends to be astonished by how badly the bed was made and does not let her

sleep in it, making her believe she is too good to deserve anything less. When a tailor comes, giving her new habiliments Petruchio ordered for her, he becomes disgusted and demands for it to be taken away, because it is not suitable for his wife. You must make your wife believe that everything you are doing, if for her own good because she deserves nothing more. She must believe that you are doing this because you love her.STEP 4: TEST OUT HOW FAR YOU HAVE GONE, AND SURPRISE EVERYONE WITH YOUR GOOD RESULTS. With Petruchio, he knew that he had tamed Katherine. He tested it out by, when they were headed to Baptista’s, said that the sun was the moon shining to brightly. Katherine, of course, argued that it was not. Finally, she gave in to him, saying that anything he said, it was, and that she was wrong. Petruchio was not pleased at first, but then calmed down, realizing that she had been tamed. You must at first, before you show everyone your results, test them out. Set up a little test. Then you may show everyone. Petruchio, being a sneaky man, bet that his wife could come when he asked her too. The men who he was with wives would not come. The astonished faces of Baptista, and many others came when Katherine appeared, ready to do whatever Petruchio said. She lectured the wives of the other men that they must do the same, because their husband is their lord. That is how Petruchio did it. And now you can do it too.

In the beginning I was a suitor trying

to win a the competition for Bianca’s hand vs Grumio but later on I am being

beat by the fake Lucentio and the real

one. Now I am marrying a old wench and

has to learn to tame her. I have been with Petruchio learning about he has

tamed poor katherine. I plan to tame her

the same way that Petruchio has tamed katherine. But I must admit the way he

has tamed Katherine is quite horrid yet it is still a productive way of taming. How

is it that you repel all the girls Hortensio?

Look at my face, I am not considered a attractive man in my century and

yours. And my technique of romance is quite lacking every one would say. Most

people say when it comes to romance I

act very desperate. In the beginning I was a suitor trying

to win a the competition for Bianca’s hand vs Grumio but later

on I am being beat by the

fake Lucentio and the real one.

HOW DID LUCENTIO AND TRANIO TRICK

YOU AND GRUMIO?

Lucentio and Tranio

tricked me by making me think that I

had no chance with Bianca which now I agree with. Tranio had taken Grumio

out of the competition by convincing

Baptista that Tranio(as Lucentio) has more to offer Bianca then Grumio. That

had put Grumio out of the competition with Lucentio, Grumio and me. But

since Tranio was just trying to illuminate

competition for Lucentio it was just him and I.

After Grumio was gone I tried to woo Bianca with my way as a music

tutor. My way of romance was lacking

and like I had said before I acted very desperate. Show pity or I die. Act 3 sc 2.

I had said this out of desperation for the love of Bianca.

Bianca had chosen Lucentio over me

because she found him more attractive then me. His way of wooing by telling

her the truth through latin made him much more appealing.

Then Tranio saying that I

had no chance with her and that I believed I had

abandoned hope and had decided I would instead

wed a old wench.

How did you come about with the idea to disguise as other people?

Tranio: I decided to disguise as Lucentio when he asked me too. You

see, Lucentio, for the first time in his

life, experienced love at first sight. When he first met Bianca [Mignola], it

was as if his whole world had suddenly revolved around her. And so, him being

my trusting master, I helped him. We

switched clothes, and in order to get closer to Bianca, he became a fake tutor

named Cambio.

Hortensio: I decided to disguise as Litio

when Baptista [Mignola] said that none of Bianca’s [Mignola] suitors could

contact her. In order to get closer to her so that I could woo her and win her

love, I dressed as a tutor even though I

knew nothing of the sort and acted the part. I would do anything for Bianca’s

love.

Did you convince people around you that you were indeed who you claimed to be?

Lucentio: Thankfully, I did manage to

convince everyone around me that I

was, indeed, Cambio. I was already good at Latin and French, which I was

said to be teaching to Bianca [Mignola]. Also, I would have never been able to

complete this without my trusting

servant, Tranio. If he has not dressed up as me and done such a good job of

getting rid of other suitors, I would not

be in the same position as I am now.

Hortensio: I do not know how I did it,

but I managed to convince everyone that I was Litio. Because Baptista

[Minola] knew me, it was a lot harder. I had to wear women's make-up on my

face, and I had to borrow clothes from

an older friend. At first, I had thought about using a different accent, but then

decided not to because I thought I might forget about it at one moment

and blow my cover.

Once everything was finished and all covers were blown, did what you wished for happen?

Lucentio: I got exactly what I wanted. After I told Bianca [Mignola] how I felt,

I realized she felt the same way. Once everyone else found out, it was much

harder to convince them. But,

eventually, after seeing how in love we were, agreed to let us marry. I said to

them, “Bianca’s love made me exchange my state with Tranio, while

he did bear my countenance in the

town, and happily I have arrived at the last, unto the wished haven of my

bliss.” (Shakespeare.5.1.105)

Hortensio: I did not get anything close

to what I wanted. I was rejected by Bianca [Mignola], and so I moved on

with my life. I married a shrew-like widow, and I plan to send her to taming

How to Get What You WantHOW TRANIO GOT A MERCHANT TO PRETEND TO BE

! It all begins in Act 4 Scene 2, in

Shakespeare’s play, the Taming of the Shrew, Tranio tricks a merchant into

pretending to be the “real” Vincentio.

But how did he do it? ! Once Biondello told Tranio that

there was a m e r c h a n t

pa s s ing by,

Tranio didn’t h e s i t a t e t o

trick him into acting like Vincentio. When the

merchant told Tranio that he was

from Mantua, Tranio came up with a plan. He said that the Duke of Padua

was fighting with the Duke of Mantua. He said because of this that

anyone from Mantua, found in Padua

was to be killed. Tranio told the merchant that he would protect him if

he pretended to be Vincentio. The merchant agreed to the deal, oblivious

to the fact that this was all just a lie to

get the merchant to be Vincentio so Baptista could talk to him about

“Lucentio’s” (Tranio pretending to be Lucentio) and Bianca’s wedding.

! Here is really what Tranio said

to trick the merchant, “‘Tis death for anyone in Mantua to come to Padua.

You know not the cause? Your ships are stayed at Venice, and the Duke, for

private quarrel ‘twix your Duke and

him hath published and proclaimed it

openly. ‘Tis marvel, but that you are

but newly come, you might have heard it else proclaimed about.” To truly

trick the merchant, Tranio had said,

“Well, sir, to do you courtesy, this will I do, and this I will advise you. First tell

me, have you ever been at Pisa?”" Of course, the merchant had

been tricked and agreed to the deal.

He pretended to be Vincentio, and this plan was completely fool-proof

until the real Vincentio showed up. When Vincentio showed up, they were

busted, but it all ended up okay

because Lucentio (the real one) ended up marrying Bianca, like planned, and

all was good again. " For your connivence, here are

the steps that Tranio used to trick the

merchant into doing what he wanted:1. Introduce yourself to the merchant

and have him introduce himself. 2. After learning about where he is

from, say that it is dangerous for

him to be in Padua because the Dukes are fighting.

3. Tell him that you will take care of him and protect him, if he pretends

to be Vincentio.

4. Once he agrees, which he will, get him dressed as Vincentio, and hope

that the real Vincentio doesn’t show up.

BIANCA’S ADVICE COLUMN In this column I will teach you tips on how to make you more attractive to Elizabethan men. I will have Katherine and Patrichio give tips on what they think of this subject. Men are attracted to me because I’m beautiful and I know when to hold my tongue unlike how my sister acted before she got married. I pay my respect to men and do what I have been asked. I always have a good attitude toward men, I will never be disrespectful to a suitor or to my father. My first tip is always make your self look presentable. You should try to look your best where ever you go. Second is If you have a opinion on something that is negative hold your tongue. Men don’t like negative comments toward them. Third is use body language to show how you feel. Don't use so much though that it shows the wrong impression. Now we are going to see what Katherine thinks of this subject and here tips from experience.

Bianca: Katherine what is your thoughts on this subject of attracting men? Katherine: For a while I wasn’t the kind

of person who wanted to get married so I didn’t care what people thought of me.

Not until I met and married Petrichio

did I start to caring what men thought of me. Act 5, scene 2 Such duty as the

subject owes the prince, Even such a woman oweth to her husband.

My first tip is try making them feel

important. Men should be one the most important thing to you. Second tip is be

affectionate. third tip is try to make contact with them. it will help you gain a

interest. Forth tip is be high on fashion.

You always want the best clothing

because it does make a vary good impression.

Bianca: Petruchio What are your thoughts on how a woman is attractive?

I believe that a woman should be submissive to a man. I showed

Katherine how to be a proper lady. I

made her into a woman that a man of the Elizabethan age would want.

My first tip is honesty. You should try to impress us but not pretend to be some

one else. My second tip is don't be

controlling. A man doesn't want a woman that controls him. My third tip is

never be violent when there is a disagreement. Men don't want to put up

with violence when a woman doesn't like

something.
