The object of Rotary is to encourage and

foster the ideal of service as a basis of

worthy enterprise and, in particular to

encourage and foster:

FIRST:

The development to acquaintance as an

opportunity for service;

SECOND:

High ethical standards in business and

professions; the recognition of the

worthiness of all useful occupations; and

the dignifying of each Rotarian’s

occupation as an opportunity to serve

society;

THIRD:

The application of the ideal of service in

each Rotarian’s personal, business and

community life;

FOURTH:

The advancement of international

understanding, goodwill, and peace

through a world fellowship of business and

professional persons united in the ideal of

service.

OF THE THINGS WE THINK, SAY OR DO

1st Is it the TRUTH?

2nd Is it FAIR to all concerned?

3rd Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER

FRIENDSHIPS?

4th Will it be BENEFICIAL to all

concerned?

As a Rotarian engaged in a

business of profession, I am

expected to:

1. Consider my vocation to be

another opportunity of service;

2. Be faithful to the letter and to

the spirit of the ethical codes

of my vocation, to the laws of

my country, and to the moral

standards of community.

3. Do all in my power to dignity

my vocation and to promote

the highest ethical standards

in my chosen vocation;

4. Be fair to my employer,

employees, associates,

competitors, customers, the

public and all those with whom

I have a business or

professional relationship;

5. Recognize the honor and

respect due to all occupations

which are useful to the society;

6. Offer my vocational talents to

provide opportunities for the

relief of the special needs of

others, and to improve the

quality of life in my community;

7. Adhere to honesty in

advertising and in all

representations to the public

concerning my business or

profession;

8. Neither seek from nor grant to

a fellow Rotarian a privilege or

advantage not normally

accorded to others in a

business or professional

relationship.

Invocation

Dear GOD of infinite wisdom, in Your mysterious and

inscrutable ways, You have bestowed upon us a very

fundamental power called freedom.

We humbly beseech You to grant unto us true

understanding of freedom; that it is not only a privilege but

also a responsibility. Make us realize that freedom is

something divine within us, so that it impels us to seek the

truth, to aim at perfection, and to arrive at perfect union

with You, our God.

We know that freedom is also about rights. We can only

exercise rights in relation to others. Freedom therefore

entails respect for others. Teach us then to reach out to

others in charity and in the spirit of fellowship, with good

will and transparency.

Freedom leads to diversity and a deep respect for what

makes us different from one another. Dear Father, grant

unto us this unity in diversity which is what freedom brings,

a unity that will set us free. Amen.

Rotary Information…

Rotary Institutes

Each year, past, present, and incoming district and senior leaders

attend Rotary institutes to share information, build connections, and

exchange ideas about Rotary International and The Rotary

Foundation. The institutes usually meet for three to five days, and

the program includes:

• An update on The Rotary Foundation and its programs

• A report on our polio eradication efforts

• A five-year forecast presented by a director or other Board

representative

• An open forum where participants can make recommendations

to the Board

• Local and international speakers sharing information on relevant

topics

• A chance to network, reconnect with friends, and find inspiration

for continuing your service and leadership in your community

• Entertainment and social outings

During Council on Legislation years, Rotary institutes also include

a session for Council representatives and alternates and a general

session for discussing Council proposals.

Organizing the institute

An institute may assemble leaders from one zone, part of a zone,

or several zones. The RI president designates one or more

conveners to organize each institute and serve as his or her

representative there. Past Rotary officers often participate as

speakers, panelists, discussion leaders, and institute committee

members.

Who can attend

Past, present, and future district governors, RI presidents,

directors, trustees, and regional leaders attend Rotary institutes.

ROTARY CLUB OF SOUTH DAVAO

The Rotary Foundation Contributors

The President’s Corner Emmanuel “Noel“ Villa-Abrille

Club President

I would like to share an article that I read from rotary.org by Maria

Sol Cases which is part of the thrust of our District Governor to

focus more on millennial members.

“Rotaractors mark a milestone at International Assembly”.

By Maria Sol Cases, Rotaract Club Rosario, Santa Fe, Argentina.

For a week in January, 60 Rotaractors from all over the world

actively participated in the International Assembly, Rotary’s annual

training event for incoming leaders, and it was, without any doubt,

a life-changing experience for me. I sincerely believe that week

marked a milestone.

I arrived in San Diego, California, USA, with a feeling of uncertainty

about the role we would have and the purpose of our visit.

Representing roughly 170,000 Rotaractors is not easy. I returned

home more committed to Rotary than I was, full of responsibility

toward the continuity of the organization and as an ambassador of

the present.

Exchanging ideas

The opportunity to exchange views with past and present RI

presidents, directors, Rotary International’s staff, the 525

governors-elect and the other 59 Rotaractors has completely

changed my point of view and my perspective. We debated how to

best promote Rotary, expand membership, implement the change

we desire, and execute the new strategic plan. We also talked

about how to develop action plans and bring back every little thing

we worked on at the Assembly to our countries and districts.

Moreover, we had an opportunity to share with the governors

Rotaract’s potential and the way in which they would benefit by

working together with these young leaders.

cont…Pres. Message

Our presence was announced and talked about during

speeches, general sessions, training room and even during

conversations in the hotel lobby, at lunchtime, dinner and in

the elevator. Rotarians asked for our opinions and ideas.

They listened to us with great interest.

During the entire event, we exchanged ideas on flexibility,

innovation, new models of membership, and adaptability. We

discussed ways to increase our impact, manage meaningful

transitions from Rotaract to Rotary, expand our reach and

better engage our members.

Just the beginning

This is my fifteenth year in the Rotarian family and I have

never felt as enthusiastic as I feel today in relation of the

initiatives implemented by Rotary International to guarantee

the sustainability of the organization for the years to come.

What happened during the Assembly is just the beginning.

We feel more connected and inspired than ever before, and

have been sharing the topics developed at the Assembly with

our members. We have so much to do and much more is yet

to come.
