*Introduction*Is the Constitution really changed throughout the

ages? Yes, it is and it’s changed to keep up with the modifications and adaptions in society. The constitution keeps the people’s best interests and allows the government to be stable and equal. The constitution shown in the coming slides is really improving our society and was created with just reasons by people who had the country’s best interests at heart. The constitution, one of the biggest parts of American government will most likely be a permanent part of our society with the exception due to the amendment processes. Hopefully in this slide show people will learn a little more of its history and background.

*What was it modeled after?*Magna Carta- an English document signed by King

John in 1215 that instituted “rule of law” and protected certain individual rights

*English Bill of Rights- an English document passed by parliament in 1689 that limited monarchs’ power and gave all people protection from cruel and unusual punishment

*Mayflower Compact- the first governing document of the Plymouth colony. It was written by the men fleeing King James on board of the Mayflower.

*Social Contract- by Jean Jacques Rousseau. This talked about the more efficient way to set up political community and that the government should be of the people.

*What Problems in our society did the Constitution solve?*It solved only having one

branch of government and gave us 3 branches; Executive, Legislative and Judicial

*The checks and balances were created, using the separation of powers between branches of government.

*Electoral College was created to represent the states in presidential elections.

*What are its limitations?*The government must obey

the same laws it makes its citizens obey.

*The US Constitution limits the power of the government by separating the power between the three branches of government. No part of the government is all powerful and the most powerful part of the government is its citizens.

*How would you improve it?*I don’t know if there really is anything I would change about the constitution. It really does make everything for the people and by the people. I agree that the government should have three different branches so as to not let any part have all the power. The checks and balances really keep our society balanced and righteous. The government relies on the people and their decisions but once we the people choose our representatives we let them help keep the government fair and equal.

*Do you feel like it is still relevant?

*Yes, I believe the US Constitution is still as relevant as the day it was written. The amendment process allows the government to modify laws and adapt to the changes in society. The separation of powers and checks and balances are still in effect and we are still able to use judicial review and deem laws unconstitutional. We still rule by the constitution and allows us to keep and stable democracy.
