Everywinterseason,TyrolAirAmbulanceoperatesscheduledairambulanceshuttleflightsfromAustria,NorthernItalyandtheFrenchAlpstoTheNetherlands,BelgiumorScandinaviainordertotakeinjuredskiers

backtotheirhomecountries.Allyearround,regularairambulanceshuttleflightsensureaquickandsafeflighthomeforinjuredtouristsstayingintheCanaryIslands,NorthAfricaorSpain.Especiallyinsummer,those“scheduled”shuttleflightsalsoservepopularholidaydestinationsintheEasternMediterra-nean,suchasTurkeyorGreece.

Our commitment:air ambulance pioneer.TyrolAirAmbulancehasitsoriginsin“Air-craftInnsbruck”.Thecompanywasgranteditsflightoperatinglicencein1963,whentheaviationpioneerDr.MaxSchuhandthemedicaldoctorUniv.-Prof.Dr.GerhardFlorastartedtorescueinjuredskiersfromTyrol’sglaciers.InJuly1976,anairambulancejetrepatriatedaninjuredtouristfromGreeceforthefirsttime.Fromthenon,“AircraftInnsbruck”operatedunderthetradingname“TyrolAirAmbulance”(formerlyTyroleanAirAmbulance)withstate-of-the-artmedicalequipmentonboard.In1980,TyrolAir

Ambulanceoperatedthefirstscheduledshuttleflightsbyairlinerswithpatientsandin1983,TyrolAirAmbulanceandtheAustrianAutomobileAssociation(ÖAMTC)startedtheAustrianrescuehelicopternetwork“Christophorus”.

ThenewcenturystartedwithWelcomeAirasthemajorshareholder,andsincethenthefleetkeepsgrowing.Additionally,acom-pletelynewsystemofall-year-roundsched-uledpatientshuttleflightswasintroducedwithDornier328aircraft–alongwiththe

complexlogisticsthatthisentails.Forindi-vidualambulancemisssionsweoperateafleetofambulancejetsforshortandmedium-haulflightsaswellasforlong-distanceflights.

In2013,TyrolAirAmbulancewasvoted“AirAmbulanceProvideroftheYear”attheInternationalTravel&HealthInsuranceJour-nal(ITIJ)IndustryAwards,acknowledgingexcellenceininnovation,achievementandqualityofservice.Wewereagainnominatedasafinalistfortheawardin2015.
