1 Getting Started 1.1 About this Document Purpose This Master Guide is the central starting point for the technical implementation of SAP Learning Solution, option for the extended learning community 1.0. You can find cross-scenario implementation information as well as scenario-specific information in this guide.
The central starting point for the technical upgrade of your SAP application/solution is the Upgrade Master Guide, which you can find on SAP Service Marketplace at http://service.sap.com/instguides.
Use the Master Guide to get an overview of SAP Learning Solution, option for the extended learning community 1.0, its software units, and its scenarios from a technical perspective. 2 Solution Overview The current learning solution SAP Learning Solution (part of HCM, built in ABAP, with some Web frontend in Web Dynpro) caters only to internal employees of the implementing organization.
The new add-on solution shall allow customers to sell courses, curriculums, e-learning, and other products through a Web application to external learners (people not from the implementing organization).
2.1 Required Software Units SAP Learning Solution, option for the extended learning community 1.0 (XLSO 100) requires Enhancement Package 4 for SAP ERP 6.0.

2.2 System Landscape The SAP Learning Solution, option for the extended learning community 1.0 is a frontend application that is implemented along with the SAP ERP 6.0 EHP4 backend system. The following figure shows an overview of the technical system landscape for the SAP Learning Solution, option for the extended learning community 1.0.

The SAP Learning Solution, option for the extended learning community 1.0 application is deployed on the SAP NetWeaver AS Java and runs in the Web Container of SAP NetWeaver AS Java. It supports SAP ERP as the backend system that can be used to run the business logic. The SAP TREX system provides the product catalog data required for the e-commerce

scenario. The catalog data would originally be created and maintained in the SAP ERP system and would periodically sent to or updated in the SAP TREX system.

This table contains all available software units. However, to implement a specific scenario, you only need a subset of available software units. Some are only required for special processes.

3 Business Scenario 3.1 Learning Management in Extended Learning Community Overview SAP Learning Solution, option for the extended learning community is an add-on product based on SAP Learning Solution and SAP Web Channel Experience Management.
SAP Learning Solution, option for the extended learning community offers an end-to-end solution for external learning that supports training providers with planning, preparation, delivery, and billing. This option supports different learning methods such as traditional classroom, virtual classroom, and e-learning.
Under this business scenario, the following business processes are provided:
1. Preparing and Delivering Trainings
You use this business process to prepare and deliver the trainings using SAP Learning Solution, option for the extended learning community. This business process enables operations employees to manage training catalogs through which both event-based and non-event-based learnings, as well as different types of learning bundles can be delivered to the external learning community.
2. Managing Memberships
You can use this business process to manage memberships using SAP Learning Solution, option for the extended learning community. Membership management involves creation and maintenance of external learner accounts. The learner registration process allows an interested learner to register on the external learning portal and book and consume training offerings.
3. Managing Learner Lifecycles
You can use this business process to manage learner lifecycles. It involves browsing and searching within the course catalog, booking and buying courses, and consuming courses.
A part from booking and buying courses, learner lifecycle management also involves managing various learner activities which need to be conducted by learners as well as learning managers, company administrators, operations employees, and instructors.
4. Managing Finances and Payments
This business process enables operations employees to manage the finance and payment activities, namely the following:
· Bulk sales order management
· Invoice management
· Discount management
5. Managing Business Operations Activities
You can use this business process to manage business operations activities using the various reports offered from SAP Learning Solution, option for the extended learning community.
Business operations involve tracking learner and company activities as well as monitoring account and revenue consumptions.
