Greetings!

We are excited to have your child join us for the third year of our summer camp! This year we are moving to full-day camps for all ages! The official camp day will begin at 9 AM and run until 4 PM Monday through Friday. There will be two topics each for 5-7 year olds, 8-10 year olds and 11-13 year olds. On the last week of summer we will offer one full-day camp Monday – Friday for 6-10 year olds called Zoolympics!

Our summer camp philosophy gets your child excited about nature and science through using Austin Zoo as an outdoor living classroom. It is an opportunity for your child to take risks, try new activities and to make new friends who have an interest in science.

Camps will be taught by experienced instructors and well-trained counselors. Your child will participate in many activities including investigating science through fun experiments, fostering their creativity through science-related arts and crafts, and learning about animals and environmental science through up close encounters. Come join us this summer for a roaring good time!

SUMMER CAMP FAQS

How do I change my registration to a different week of camp?

To change your registration, you can call the education staff at 512-288-1490 or email us at [email protected] .

How large are the camp groups?

The maximum camp size is 20 campers to ensure every camper has the opportunity to participate in all activities.

What does my camper need to bring to camp?

It is very hot in Central Texas during the summer, so it is important that every camper brings a water bottle and wears sunscreen and bug repellant. The Austin Zoo summer camp does not provide lunch or snacks, so parents should make sure campers bring a filling lunch and one or two snacks to eat throughout the day. Campers will not be visiting the gift shop, so they should not bring money.

What does my camper need to wear to camp?

Campers MUST wear closed-toe shoes to protect their feet while walking the natural pathways at the zoo. Hats are strongly recommended, and clothes should be comfortable. The confirmation letter you will receive after registration will give more details on what campers should wear each day based on activities.

Have more questions? Email us at [email protected] or call at 512-288-1490 and the education staff can answer any other questions.

Program is not licensed by the State of Texas. Exempt from licensing under TAC745.129(2)
