Puerto Rico’s Commercial Fisheries Profile 2015
• 1,100 Commercial Active Fishers during the last three years.
• 20,000 trip tickets reported yearly• 1.25 Millions Pound Reported yearly• Approximately 800 trips intervirewed by port
samplers to collect bostatistics data yearly.• CFSP personnel observed a decrease in fishing
activity.
CFSP Current Personnel
DNER Regular Personnel (all full time; Funded 67% by DNER and 33% by NOAA)
– Project Leader– Two Port Samplers– One Statistics ClerkContractors (Funded 100% by NOAA)Three biologists (Part Time port samplers)One biologist (Full Time at the office helping with data editions)One Statistics Clerk (Full Time at the office)
Port samplers visited 3-4 days weekly the fishing centers to collect Biostatistical data.
Data Entry Status
• Trip ticket – the CFSP is entering the May 2014 landings data.
• Biostatistics – Port samplers enter their data using NOAA/SEFSC/TIP. They are entering Jan-Feb 2015.
