November 26th 2017,November 26th 2017,November 26th 2017, Solemnity of Our Lord Solemnity of Our Lord Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Jesus Christ, King of the Jesus Christ, King of the Universe: Universe: Universe: When the Son of Man comes in glory, may we be among those who have fed the hungry, welcomed the stranger, and clothed the naked. For Jesus tells us clearly that it is those who have demonstrated good stewardship by sharing their gifts with the less fortunate who will receive God’s blessing and inherit the kingdom.

Ministry gathers us and makes us a faith family...

CHRIST, KING OF ALL - On this, the final Sunday of the liturgical year, we celebrate the solemnity of Christ the King. By concluding the year with this feast we are proclaiming our faith that Jesus Christ is the one and only king over all seasons, all peoples, and all of creation. At the end of time as we know it, Christ's work of restoring all things to unity and harmony with their Creator God will be completed. This Sunday, when we claim Christ as both our Shepherd and our King, we recognize our own calling to participate in Christ's saving work by caring for those whom Jesus calls "the least ones” (Matthew 25:45). FOCUS: Jesus is the King of the Universe and Lord of all creation.

Today’s Solemnity of Christ the King lauds Jesus as the King of the Universe and Lord of all creation. Through His death on the cross, rising from the dead and ascension into heaven, He won our salvation and opened the way to eternal life. So in gratitude for all that Jesus has done for us, may we give of ourselves more fully in love and service to others.

LITURGY OF THE WORD

The first reading reminds us that God looks after His flock with tenderness—the lost are brought back, the injured are bound and the sick are healed. The second reading describes the kingship of Jesus as being the one who reigns over all. Today’s

Gospel parable exhorts us to care for those who are in need so that we might be judged worthy of eternal life.

FACT OF LIFEFACT OF LIFEFACT OF LIFE Study Finds Skyrocketing Rate of Abstinence

Among Millennials The number of celibate-young adults born in the 1990's is more than twice as high as for the Baby Boomer generation, a sign they have learned from the disastrous fallout from the sexual revolu-tion. "I think a lot of them are watching the adults around them and concluding that adult behav-ior without limits is not making people happy, particularly parents with multiple marriages and divorces," Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse told Life-SiteNews. August 3, 1916 The Catechism of the Catholic Church states: "Chastity is a moral virtue. It is also a gift from God, a grace, a fruit of spiritual effort. The Holy Spirit enables one whom the waters of baptism has regenerated to imitate the purity of Christ"

School has been busy these past weeks with Parent-Teacher Conference, and a well deserved time off to celebrate Thanksgiving! We’ll be back next week!

Ministry in Community…

Calling All Dads to Turkey Dinner! The St. Anastasia Men's Club wants you! This is a fun group that gathers 5-6 times a year for social events. The next activity will be a Turkey After Thanksgiving Dinner / Cornhole Tournament on Thursday, November 30, at the Elks Club in Playa del Rey. Online registration and details about joining the Men's Club are at https://stanasta.ejoinme.org/mensclub. This is a great way to meet other Dads who are in the parish and school.

Advent Wreath Lighting and Reflection: The Season of Advent is soon upon us. Advent is the season of waiting for Jesus’ coming. During this season we focus on being ready to receive Christ. We need

people, individuals and families to volunteer to participate in this liturgical activity. Your presence and participation in this activity would be a great blessing. The sign-up poster is in the Vestibule this weekend.

U N B O U N D Unbound is an international nonprofit founded by lay Catholics grounded in the Gospel call to put the needs of the

marginalized and vulnerable first. We build relationships of mutual respect and support that bridge cultural, religious and economic dividends. We invite all people of goodwill to join us. “I have extended an invitation to Rev. Jerry Brown to come to our Parish on the weekend of Dec. 2-3, 2017. Rev. Brown will speak about the work being done by UNBOUND, and how this provides a trustworthy way to actively participate in the social outreach of the Catholic Church and answer the Gospel call to serve the poor. Please join me in welcoming Rev. Brown to our Parish”. Fr. Leszek

Unbound’s unique sponsorship program is highly personalized. It matches a child, youth or aging person at a project overseas with a sponsor in the U.S. who cares about and encourages that person.

Give Thanks to the Lord for He is good!

A Prayer for Thanksgiving

Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe ...whatever you did for one of the least

brothers of mine, you did for me. - Matthew 25:40 On her way to school, Marty smiles at an old man waiting at the bus stop. Marty has no idea that the man is on his way to visit his wife in the hospital, but her smile cheers him up. He’s still smiling when he gets on the bus. Earlier, someone was rude to the bus driver, but the man’s smile makes him forget, and the driver smiles at the next person he sees—a teenager who wants to run away from home. The teen can’t help smiling back. She decides to go home and smile at her mom instead of running away. All this good—and it started with one smile. Lord Jesus, bless all good things done in your name.

Neglect is a common form of abuse Neglect is the most common form of child abuse. It is the failure to meet a child’s basic needs, including housing, food, clothing,

education, safety and access to health care. Neglect is most often characterized by acts of omission that aren’t easy to see. The signs of neglect are wide and varied, and may include: failure to develop and grow appropriately, or malnourishment, among infants; wearing inadequate clothing for the weather; and children who seem to be wholly responsible for the welfare of their siblings. If you know that any type of abuse is occurring, or if a child discloses to you, it is important to communicate these concerns to the appropriate authorities. Call your local law enforcement or child protective services depart-ment to report suspected abuse of any kind. For a copy of the VIRTUS® article “The Oft-Forgotten Type of Abuse: Neglect,” visit: http://www.la-archdiocese.org/org/protecting/Pages/VIRTUS-Current-Online-Articles.aspx or call (213) 637-7508.

Las Posadas is a traditional Hispanic Festival which re-enacts Mary and Joseph’s journey in search of an inn. This is a beautiful opportunity to experience what Mary and Joseph may have felt as doors were closed in their faces, and then to experience the true joy of hospitality. You are ALL invited to this celebration of Prayers, Songs, Tamales, Churros, Mariachis and Folklorico. We invite our parishioners to bring a taste of

their Christmas tradition to share! And to our children to come dressed up as Angels and Shepherds! Come and enjoy this great traditional event of Las Posadas!
