    Tennis anyone? Help us welcome back Rod Dulany to Ocean City as our new Director of Tennis --again. Rod was the driving force behind the restructuring and rebirth of tennis in Ocean City backin 2003 before he moved on to take the prestigious role as the Executive Director of the UnitedStates Tennis Association/Mid-Atlantic Section (USTA) . Additionally,has been inducted into both the Mid-Atlantic Tennisll of Fame and USPTA/Mid-Atlantic Tennis Hall ofme. Among other professional achievements, Rod has

    MARPSA AWARDS2014 GOOD SPORTS AWARD RECIPIENTKEVIN BECKKevin Beck was selected byOCRP as a 2014 Dennis Callahan“Good Sports” Award recipientand nominated for the Mid-

    Atlantic Recreation and ParksSports Alliance (MARPSA) Playerof the Year Award. Kevin hasparticipated for the past 9 years inour basketball and soccer clinics,boy’s basketball program andindoor soccer programs. In addition, Kevin plays tlacrosse for the Dark Horse Lacrosse team and trasoccer for the Fruitland Red Bulls. He also finds tito play for Makos Soccer and Beach Lacrosse and

    is a 4-time Maryland State Little League Championwith Berlin Little League. Kevin is an 8th grader aStephen Decatur Middle School where he excels instudies and is a member of the Junior National HoSociety. He also is a volunteer Pier Mediator at BeIntermediate School. Kevin is a model youth sportathlete.

    2014 GOOD SPORTS AWARD &VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR RECIPIENT –CHRIS VIERSChris Veirs was selected by OCRPas a 2014 Dennis Callahan “GoodSports” Award recipient andnominated for the Mid-AtlanticRecreation and Parks SportsAlliance (MARPSA) Coach of theYear Award, as well as beingselected as the OC RecreationBoosters’ Volunteer of the Year.

    Chris has been involved with OCRP for the last 20years as a participant, and for the last 7 years he coached in our Indoor and Outdoor Soccer LeagueBoys and Girls Basketball Leagues, and Flag FootbLeague. Chris travels about 60 miles, each day, rotrip, five days a week, to coach for our programs. is a Certified Youth Sports Coach, through the NatAlliance for Youth Sports, but more importantly heis an exceptionally dedicated volunteer coach whopromotes team work and good sportsmanship.

    HONORING OUR MOST VALUABLE RESOUCES: VOLUNTEERREBA FELTYReba Felty officially retired on January23, 2015, from her significant leadershiprole with OC Recreation Boosters.Reba was a member of the Boostersfor more than 15 years. For 13 of

    those years, she led the efforts of theorganization as President. In 2008,Reba was honored as Volunteer ofThe Year. Her efforts were tremendousthroughout her time with us. Beyondher leadership role, she regularlyengaged in a wide array of hands-onservice projects, including assistance with Springfest, Sunfest,Winterfest, Sunset Park Party Nights and other holiday functionsand special events. Reba thoroughly enjoyed the work that shedid with the Boosters, as well as the people she worked with. Shewill be greatly missed.

    CAROLEE

    HUMPHREYSWith the close of 2014, CaroleeHumphreys made the difficult decisionto retire from her volunteer servicefrom the OC Recreation Boosters,where she served as an active memberfor more than 12 years, and as VicePresident for 3 of those years. During

    Carolee’s time with the Boosters she worked in some capacityon nearly every Booster-related fundraising event and activity –from selling hot chocolate to selling St. Pat’s Soccer Tournament-shirts. Carolee worked innumerable youth holiday parties, thewine and beer tents at Springfest and Sunfest, and concerts atSunset Park. Carolee was always willing to help out and put incountless volunteer hours. She will always be remembered for hstrong work ethic, accountability and kindness to others. In 2012

    Carolee was honored with the OCRP Volunteer of the Year awa

    BILL DAVISIn December, OC Recreation Boosters,OCRP, and city officials, recognizedWilliam “Bill” Davis, for his significantcontribution supporting Ocean CityRecreation youth programs. Billserved as an active member of theOC Recreation Boosters for 25 years,having worked countless hours, in avariety of functions, and for numerousevents and programs. He was integralin the development of the OCRP girls’basketball program, served as a volunteer instructor and coacrecruiter for the Girls Basketball Clinic, as well as a mentorand trainer for other coaches. Bill also coached girls’ softball,coordinated volunteer support from the local Marine Corps,and spearheaded numerous efforts, including the Boosters“Volunteer of the Year” recognition program, (he was the firstrecipient in 1999), and forming a “Love of America Committee,which was responsible for the installment of a flag plaza at

    Northside Park.

    NEW LOOK FOR SUNSET PARKormerly the site of the 1800s Atlantic, Wicomico & Pocomoke Railroad,unset Park, located at South Division Street on the bay, received a face-liftver the winter months. The makeover included an expansion of hardscapend modification of its native landscaping. The changes provide an expandedvent venue, better views of the elevated stage, and a more open feeling to theark. Bricks taken from the original railroad terminal site were used to outline

    he new pervious pavers and mark the historical significance of the space. Come enjoy the new look at one of thisummer’s Sunset Party Night events, or drop by on any evening to enjoy a beautiful Ocean City sunset.

    DINOS ON THE BEACHou won’t want to miss a photo and play opportunity at Ocean City’s newestlay structure on the beach. Dubbed “Deeno” by a local Councilperson,he new T-Rex beach play structure is sure to entertain local and visitinghildren with its bony head, ribs and tail climbing sections, along with threeimbable hatching Dino eggs. The structures are made of PolyFiberCrete and

    weigh from 1,325 to 2,750 pounds each. It is expected that Ocean City’s newinosaur will excite the creativity of young residents and offer a fun play spot

    or visitors along the boardwalk at 3rd Street.
