15. A rivalry built on proximity, sheep-shagging jokes and proud rugby-playing histories for both nations, the bad blood between X and Y has increased in recent times, with X twice robbing Y of a Rugby World Cup final berth, knocking them out in the semis in both 1991 and 2003. (In fact, Y hasn't won a world cup in 20 years, despite being the sport's most dominant team for much of the period.

Then Xs captain George Gregan's on-field taunts of "four more years, boys, four more years" when the 2003 World Cup semi-final was in the bag for the X’s only added fuel to the rivalry fire. Most recently, X won the Tri-Nations final against the Y, ending a 10-year losing streak

According to Heiner Gillmeister, a European language expert of Bonn University, this game derives its name from the Middle Dutch met de sen (i.e., "with the stick chase"), which also suggests a Dutch connection in the sport’s origin. It is more likely that the terminology of the sport was based on words in use in south-east England at the time and, given trade connections with the County of Flanders, especially in the 15th century when it belonged to the Duchy of Burgundy, many Middle Dutch words found their way into southern English dialects. X and his son Y are together the only father-son pair to captain the Indian cricket team. X is also the only Test cricketer to have played for both India and England. X went to Oxford in 1927 and in 1931, hit 238* in a University Match against Cambridge, a record that stood till 2005. He scored a century on debut for England in the opening match of the highly controversial 1932-33 Ashes Series played in Australia. However, he was dropped after the second test for dissenting against his captain Z’s tactics and famously commented, “I am told he has his good points. In three months, I am yet to see them.” He later went on to captain India. In 1959, X’s son Y, beat the school record set in 1919 by Z by scoring 1,068 runs in a season for Winchester. In 2007, the MCC commissioned a trophy for the Test match series between India and England in their honour.Identify X, Y and Z.

X was known for her clean technique, innovative and difficult original skills, and her stoic, cool demeanor in competition.

On the uneven bars, X performed her own release move, a kip to immediate straddled front salto. The skill is named after her in the women's Code of Points, where it is currently rated an "E" (i.e., high-difficulty) element. Also named after her is the “X dismount", an underswing half turn into a back salto.

On the balance beam, X was the first gymnast to successfully perform an aerial walkover and an aerial cartwheel-back handspring flight series. She is also credited as being the first gymnast to perform a double-twist dismount.

X’s skills on the floor exercise included a tucked double back salto and a double twist.

In the early part of her career, X's competitive vault was a piked Tsukahara (a half-turn pre-flight followed by a piked back salto). Later she vaulted a tucked Cuervo (handspring half turn into tucked back salto).

X was coached initially by his father, Roshan, the 1957 British Open champion, then by his late brother Torsam. After his brother's sudden death he was coached by his cousin Rehmat Khan, who guided X through most of his career. X was a sickly child and physically very weak. Though the doctors had advised him not to take part in any sort of physical activity, after undergoing a couple of hernia operations his father let him play and try out their family game. In 1979, the Pakistan selectors decided not to select X to play in the world championships in Australia, judging him too weak from a recent illness. X decided instead to enter the World Amateur Individual Championship and, at the age of 15, became the youngest-ever winner of that event

X was the first baseball star to be the subject of overwhelming interest by the public. Baseball had seen star players before, such as Cobb and "Shoeless Joe" Jackson, but both men had uneasy relations with fans, in Cobb's case sometimes marked by violence. X's biographers agree that he benefited from the timing of his ascension to "Home Run King". Montville notes that as a larger-than-life figure capable of unprecedented athletic feats in what was the nation's largest city, X became an icon of the significant social changes.
